How awesome is it that record stores have found a way to survive in certain areas. I can…read moredefinitely spend a day in here and just sift through everything they have. It's like going back in time without building the machine. It is awesome that Johnstown still has such a place. But what is extra cool is that Johnstown is home to the OLDEST RECORD SHOP IN AMERICA! Yes, you read that right. I know, you have your doubts about that. I did too. But me being me I asked the owner inside if this was indeed true and he said yes. They have been open and in constant operations for 88 years. YIKES! I asked my Mom about this and she told me she used to frequent the store when in Johnstown and where she got a majority of her records that she still has to this day. Let me address a few things here. The size of it has been downsized. There is no longer five floors to browse through, it is all on one floor now. I assume that is because the owner is getting up there in age so by keeping it on one floor makes it easier for him to help you out. I also assume this will cut down on people attempting to sneak out with an item. Another thing to address, this isn't just records. All formats are in house. So break out that boombox, they got you some cassettes to browse. Dust off that '78 Maverick, they got you some 8-tracks. Just bought yourself a turntable for nostalgia or because of hipster, tons of vinyl in here for purchase. There are even CDs if you held onto your Walkman. It is best to just browse when you are visiting. Yes, you may have something in mind when it comes to what you want, but by browsing you will stumble upon something new. I did see in other reviews that people were complaining about the pricing. Yes it seems steep, but let's think about this. Not many vinyls are made currently, it's starting to get up there, but not how it use to be. So you are paying a price for something that is probably a bit more time consuming to produce than a file that most of us are accustom to today. Yeah, you will be paying a price for something well made. If you find yourself in Johnstown, take the time to find this store. It is worth the trip down memory lane.

Don't really understand how the mall bookstore is still surviving. Can you really classify them as…read morebookstores anymore? I mean yes, in some part, but at the same time there are more items in here that do not relate to books. There are more and more items in here that are of the toy variety that are geared towards children than books. This is somehow surviving in this dying mall. But to be honest you rarely see anyone enter here. How is it surviving? Just how? I came in and looked through the selection they had and not much is worth grabbing. I like local history books, especially when it comes to Johnstown. Just wish that there was more offered here.

I can't give this store anything but five stars!!!! Not just because I love reading and go in here…read moreall the time, but because the store and workers are awesome. The employees know me by my face and name because I am always in there. They always say hello to me and we have a conversation because they are just so awesome. Books are never that cheap, but they always have sales and if you go in at the right time, you can get books for less than $5. The membership card is worth it if you are w reader because it saves you money on everything you buy. I have too many books to count and I always buy more, but this store is a great one and it better never close. Heck, books are the only thing I really buy and I could keep them in business haha. If you rare looking for a good place to buy books with friendly staff go to Books-A-Million because you will never be disappointed!

Incredible but there's an obvious reason why they've been so well received. Stopped into the Richland location while seeing my Bonka Gigi in Johnstown two weeks ago and even though it's no their best- it's got that home town hipster feel to it where the employees play and live for games more than anyone that would come in. The guy working with the glasses Ronnie? helped me and gave me some idea on new gen games and even though I have one he gave me a nice run down of the pros and cons of getting a Switch. I know they are there to make money but the fact he took the time to talk and give his honest assessment, was really appreciated. if I want a switch I'll go to one of their stores closer to me. Thanks Ronnie for your time!

They have everything from the current generation consoles all the way back to the Atari. The associate I talked to was very friendly and helpful and the prices are great. They regularly have sales and specials that makes it even cheaper. They are very quick to answer your Facebook messages on any questions you may have. They will happily order items they don't have from other stores as well. If you're looking for great deals on games and accessories old and new then this is the place for you.
