Staff…read morehave never been intrusive when we've been browsing, and there are always staff available for when you need assistance. We've never felt pressure to buy and have never been subject to any hard sales pitches, something which I was previously wary of when browsing for bigger purchases. PC World have a great no-interest simply ten plan, in which you can buy electrical items and pay the cost over ten months. (Quick warning: It's only interest free if you pay the ten instalments over ten months! It comes out your account automatically.) It's definitely something worth considering if you're lusting over a new gadget but can't quite afford to pay the full cost up front. Obviously, the other plans available (which you pay up over a longer period of time) come with a great deal more interest to be paid back, so I would advise only considering this plan as it's most cost efficient in the end. Of course, this is all subject to you passing a credit check. But if you do, you're good to go! I've always found staff to be really friendly and helpful too. - If I'm considering a new electrical appliance, PC World is always my go-to!

Read this before you buy from this store…read more I bought a £999 HP DV9000 series laptop from PC world on the 4th January 2007. The laptop functioned perfectly until November 2007 when the graphic card failed and it had to be repaired. First Techguys fitted a motherboard but did not connect the fans and cooked the laptop components. The second repair came back with the casing sticking open at one end and the fans fitted (no new M/board) Laptop returned for proper fitting. Sent back a third time as casing still did not fit and the laptop was behaving erratically with system and program crashes, random reboots and numerous errors including ram errors. (none of these ever happened before the repairs) At this point I was out around £40 in phone calls (this was to increase to over £70) I discovered that HP should have done the repairs not Techguys. (confirmed by HP) and that HP automatically replace or refund an item that has been returned three times. Techguys would not do this. AMD then confirmed the overheating can cause significant damage to the components. Techguys deny this. I asked for a refund and I was told I would get one, all I had to do was send it back to Techguys. This was a lie, they kept it till 4th January 2008 (end of warranty) and claimed it needed all software reinstalled with the recovery disk. I asked what and how the tests were carried out as they had just sent a badly ticked checklist as proof of this and they refused any information on their tests. Then I was lied to by the Techguys call centre staff who passed me from one person to the other at my expense, never calling me back and telling me to call people on different shifts that did not exist for my promised refund. I had their staff telling me no one of that name works here. I was told a supervisor would call me on several occasions but they never did. I asked for Basil Keelan, Operations Manager,The Tech Guys to reply to my emails at least a dozen times but he never replied. not once! This is just the tip of the iceberg. I have the emails, telephone voice recordings and witnesses that can prove every word of this. Contact: Id-dis@id-dis.com I have been left with a £999 faulty laptop because of the incompetence of Techguys and PC Worlds refusal to refund me. Do you really want to buy here? THIS COULD BE YOU TOO!

To be honest, I only went in here because it's a few doors up from my house, but I'm very glad I…read moredid. They sell laptops but they also do laptop repairs at what I think are pretty reasonable prices (I've not got much to compare them to but I never feel I'm getting ripped off). I first went in when my laptop keyboard started losing keys at an alarming rate and they replaced the whole keyboard for £20. Then, more recently, my laptop was overheating quite badly (probably because it was full of sawdust after I got a new kitchen put in this summer) and they sorted that for £30. I also bought my other half a lovely little notebook computer which came installed with WIndows XP, some open source Office software and Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus software. It was £150 but they gave me £20 off in exchange for an old Advent laptop I'd been meaning to get rid of for ages. The notebook also came with a six month guarantee so I know we can just go back in if anything goes wrong. I've never had any issues with stuff we've bought here or repairs they've carried out. The guys running the shop are really friendly, really helpful, especially the Irish guy who I think must be the owner. I know there are laptop repair shops all over the place nowadays but if you're in Shawlands then I'd definitely recommend this place.

This isn't technically a bad branch of PC World. It's quite big, spread across two floors and…read morethere's tonnes of parking space if you've driven here. It has a large range of items available and a good selection within those. You'll fine laptops, tablets, printers, TVs, cameras, speakers, and household appliances. Plus cables and accessories. What you'll probably struggle to find is what you're looking for or anyone who can help. After wandering the store for ten minutes trying to find a hard drive, I wandered for another five trying to find a sales assistant. No luck. I even tried standing near some expensive stuff in the hope that someone would appear to try to sell me something but that didn't work either. Eventually I stumbled across the hard drives by accident but they were (in my opinion) overpriced. It all felt like a bit of a waste of time. If you want an iPad or a TV you won't struggle to find it, although I'd shop online first to make sure you don't pay over the odds, but if you want a smaller item or accessory you could be wandering around for a while.

PC World can be quite an infuriating experience. That's not really PC World's fault though, and after the anger subsides this really is an excellent store for pretty much anything to do with computers. They also do games consoles and other techy treats such as digital photo frames and Blu-Ray players, so a trip in here for a memory stick can easily turn into an hour long trawl through an orgy of consumer electronics. I was pleasantly surprised by the staff as well. I came in to buy a router and expected the salesman to insist I need the most expensive one whilst demanding I take out a ten year warranty on it, but he actually recommended the cheapest option. I hope he gets employee of the month.
