This review encompasses an email I sent them shortly after my experience with them. They decided I wasn't important enough for the them to respond or care, so now you get to know what kind of place Gamerz Paradise is, and why I will drive the extra 20 miles to their competitor ReGEN in White Marsh from now on.
So I came to their store about a month ago, buried in the back of an Amish market and had a decent experience at first. Traded in some movies, and met the nice guy with the dark curly hair that seemed to be genuinely interested in my business. Left with a copy of Full Spectrum Warrior and I was happy.
I figured I would take my oldest son with me one Saturday to show him the store. I had some old games to trade in, and my eye on some Sega Saturn stuff. Walked into the store, and a guy in a white shirt and glasses was behind the counter on his phone. I stood at the counter for a good 3 minutes while the guy looked at his phone standing literally right in front of me. I finally cleared my throat and he looked up at me and said nothing. I said "I have some games to trade", and he said "You have to see the guy in the back".
So I walked out and toward the back and ran into the friendly guy. Showed him the bag of games and he pulled out everything but the Madden games and said "I'll take these". I was fine with that, and he walked with me to the front and said when the other guy in the store came back he'd take care of me.
So now we have a third guy, tall with baseball cap. Acted like he wanted nothing to do with me, much less happy to be there at all. Took Minecraft Story Mode out and said "I'll give you $3 for this". I asked about the other games the friendly guy said he'd take and he said "They are scratched, I wouldn't take them". They weren't scratched at all. One of them had fingerprints on them, which I later wiped off. But I tested them all before I left the house to make sure they worked. Also, Gamestop already offered me $10 so I said "That's ok". And instead of asking me if there was anything else or anything I was looking for, immediately walked away from me leaving me standing at the counter. At that point I grabbed my son and we just walked out. One of the other guys who was also in the store at the same time walked with my son and I out of the Amish Market and he also complained that no one even bothered to talk to him the entire time he was there.
You guys have a monster collection of games. But I don't need to be treated like that when I come in. I was eyeing a $30 copy of Road Rash for the Saturn (which as it turns out was a different game in the case) that had the two other guys treated me any bit like a real customer I would have bought even without the trade-ins. And I would have kept coming back to try and rebuild my collection. But as it stands right now I have no real reason to come back if you guys have no desire to have me there.
On a side note I went to ReGEN on Sunday and they took every game these guys didn't, and I left with copies of games that this place didn't even have. Plus, the owner talked games with me and just treated me like he wanted me to be there. That's where I will do all my business instead of Gamerz Paradise. read more
