Like in American films with hundreds of amazing quarter hungry machines of sound and light, with meandering crowds of laughing crowds... Nobles is on the other hand the other kind of Arcade, the more acceptable adult kind filled wall to wall with gambling machines. They host fast paced bingo games here too so that you can have a bit of variety in your gambling habits if you so desire. Strangely you also walk through here to get to a tanning salon upstairs, but I like my pasty white complexion just the way it is, so I stayed clear of there. In all honesty I won't be coming here again, just because I don't get fruit machines even when they're in sociable spaces like pubs.

A few minutes walk from Brighton Pier, it's also a great place to take kids for half an hour's fun. There's funny mirrors that make you look taller, shorter and fatter and over 50 vintage penny slot machines. Since most of the machines were manufactured between 1895-1950 some of them seem to break down occasionally but most of them are in good working order. There's strength machines that test your endurance, fortune tellers that predict your future and love life and quirky machines like What The Butler Saw. For £1 you get 7 old pennies to play whatever machines you like. The arcade is open every day from 12am-6pm Easter til September and fine weekends in the winter. If you're planning to make a special trip, it's worth phoning to check.

Inside are a wide range of truely oldschool arcades and eccentricities from the late Victorian era to the mid Twentieth Century. I especially find the 'What the Butler Saw' machines funny. I also like that they give you large old pennies to play, rather than have converted the machines to take contemporary currency. I'm sure a number of these end up leaving the arcade as souveniers, so I suppose they have them made to order or something! You are unlikely to find all the machines working at any one time, but there will certainly be at least £2-£3's worth of pennies to play with. The only thing I missed not being present was an old style automated organ or some 'traditional' snacks to buy. Certainly a fun way to spend a few quid doing something a little different.

I would visit a few times, and the new machines just didn't tempt me. So when I say my most recent Namco station visit came at a surprise, it really did. It had bigger, newer and cooler machines, designed to capture fun for all groups and ages. It almost reminded me back to when I first visited Namco station. I love the giant size connect 4, and the dodging laser beams. Overall I had a great time, something different and best possible way to kill time.

But, they couldn't have put it any better in this instance as I always have a cracking time bowling. Everyone can play and there can be no excuses for not playing. Bowlplex does offer much more than bowling with live music on the odd occasion, an arcade and a pool pit. It is a day out that doesn't cost too much and can give you some classic moments that you remember forever. I once saw a friend fall over and throw the ball down the wrong alley, the people next to us where not very happy until the ball hit a strike for the person who's turn it was, classic! They have nights where if a pin lights up and you get a strike on that go you can win great prizes. I haven't been on one of these night sbut it does sound like a great idea.

Me and my friends all played this outrageous track upstairs in a pub racing again each other. Firstly you pay your money and then register to get your driving licence which is quite fun you can use a fake name and you can even take a photo of yourself to add to it. You then get a print out. Now you go and choose your car / driving seat (which was like a driving seat) with a steering wheel that you could adjust to bring nearer yourself. You then place your made up driving licence under scanner to get started. The cars are very detailed and robust. Thank goodness they were robust as I kept on crashing my car and going backwards and sideways buts that's just because anything to do with cars I am useless. It was a great laugh though and everyone else seemed to be driving ok just not me, Really good fun and great atmosphere upstairs and downstairs in the Four Thieves. The car racing was definitely a great way to end the night.

Our time was only spent in the indoor soft play area, so if you're looking for a review of the lazer tag, bowling, or game arcade, you'll have to wait for some other Yelper to get to the Big Apple. In general, the play area was fun, for him, but there were a number of items that I found less than ideal. 1. Heat! It was so damned hot in the play area, we were all sweating. Now this was a party with 18 families, so it appeared it was nowhere near it's capacity, but still, everyone, without exception, complained about the lack of ventilation. 2. Disrepair. Mostly, things were in pretty good shape, but a number of things were kind of jerry-rigged with zip ties and duct tape. No single thing caused me great concern, but the sheer quantity of places where I saw these things made me wonder if a little more rigorous maintenance wasn't in order. I'm sure the wear and tear on such play things is massive, but for the amount they charge, I expected more quality to be honest. 3. Non-slidey slides. The biggest coolest-looking slide was, in fact, a dud! There's a slide that goes from the upper level of the play area down to the bottom where the parents were generally hanging out. This makes a total descent of some 4-5 meters. How cool is that??? Not much, it turns out. Kids were constantly having to scoot themselves down. One lucky parent was wearing the right fabric to make her slide down well, but everyone else was forced to self-propel. 4. I don't mark down for this, but the food served to the kiddies was the usual breaded-fried-potato-waste-on-a-stick. De regueur for such party places, they won no stars in our book because none of it met our child's dietary requirements (gluten-free). We never expect this, though, and always bring our own. My wife and I found ourselves the inevitable schadenfreude when we realized that our child's meal was way healthier than any of the other children! Looking at the heat, and the disrepair, I can't imagine a full-capacity weekend, where there are wall-to-wall kids.
