Just after purchasing a new month…read moreto month unlimited membership, and their holiday special punch card I was scheduled for surgery. I informed them of this and asked what would happen regarding my membership. It was told to me this wasn't uncommon, it would be ok to pause the membership and to speak with the owner. My last class was the week of Christmas and the owner wasn't there. When I returned to class and spoke with the owner she said she couldn't allow people to stop coming to class, start back up when they felt like it, and expecting to still have their membership. Throughout the conversation I explained to her several times that I didn't just stop coming, I had surgery and couldn't attend. By this time other people were there and able to hear the conversation. Because of this, I suggested we discuss it further after class. She then said I should have informed them that I would be having surgery and the best she could do was to give me 7 days. I explained to her that I had informed them ahead of time and was told it wouldn't be an issue pausing membership until I was able return. It was at that time that she said she needed to start class. It was an embarrassing experience and very unprofessional. I found a place closer to home less expensive for the amount of classes, and more welcoming.

The atmosphere here is so welcoming, and all the instructors are extremely helpful and always available to answer any questions I have regarding the exercises we are doing. It's great to be able to take a large variety of "specialized" fitness classes like pilates, barre, and HIIT and circuit training at a location that doesn't lock you into a pricey membership and lets you pay per class or via packages as you go! I've been so much more motivated to work out since I've started attending class here, and the special fitness challenge events, workshop classes, and meal prep events have helped me a lot outside the gym too.

The women's bathroom is stocked with deodorant, tampons, mouth wash and dry shampoo. What a nice touch! They do have snacks for after but I can't usually eat them, unless they have bananas. I am unable to use the membership due to having a c section and medically unable to work out at this time. When I called about the freeze being lifted without my permission I was told to come in and cancel the membership and this would be taken care of for me because of the medical situation. When I went into the studio to cancel I was told by a staff member the owner was going to be talked to about waiving my final payment, and heard nothing further about it so I assumed it was all cleared up. Then I received text messages threatening me to send this to collections. This level of what many would view as predatory business practice especially to a postpartum woman has been an exceptional turnoff. Sending this to collections would net Cyclebar pennies of the proposed charge. I had high hopes for CycleBar and was planning on using it after my recovery but I can not in good faith use this service nor recommend it to others with the experience I had with staff members and upper management. This is all about making a quick buck to Cyclebar instead of having compassion for a postpartum women and doing what is right in the long term for their gym users. Under no circumstance will I be patronizing a gym with unclear terms, and zero communication skills between staff, management, and their customers. Unlike their more scrupulous competitors - like Orange Theory, which I attended regularly prior to the change in my condition, simply cancelled my membership without any issues or fees.

Unfortunately, they made some changes and consolidated some spaces, etc. One of those changes was severely cutting their hours. I believe they close at 8:00 p.m. throughout the week now, and 2:00 p.m. on the weekends! These hours don't fit most people's lives, especially mine as a night shift nurse. I can handle rearranging some equipment and even closing the kids club, but if I can't get there because they close so doggone early it's not worth me paying for it. By the way, even though they cut out several hours per week of available gym time for clients, they did not cut out any of the very expensive monthly dues for members. This business is owned by ProMedica and if I didn't know any better I would think that they didn't care about encouraging people to live a healthy lifestyle, and that they only cared about money. And then I remembered that I am a ProMedica nurse and that is absolutely, 100%, the case! They made these changes to the hours from a financial standpoint, not thinking about their clientele or giving a crap if anyone actually visits the gym (so long as they pay their monthly dues).
