If you are looking for a generic, crowded shuttle tour where you are rushed through basic tasting…read morerooms (like temecula), this is not it. But if you nice want a customized journey through Santa Barbara's finest vineyards, this private tour is worth every penny. From the moment we were picked up, we knew we were going to be taken care of. The vehicle was pristine, incredibly comfortable, and filled with refreshments. Our guide was great, really knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly well-connected in the Santa Barbara wine community.Because this is a private agency, they cleared away all the usual hassle of wine tasting. Instead of standing at crowded bars, we were taken to exclusive, behind-the-scenes estate tours and private estate pavilions. We tasted incredible, limited-production Pinot Noirs and Syrahs that aren't even open to the general public, all while overlooking rolling hills. The highlight was an artisanal lunch served alfresco on a private vineyard terrace, perfectly paired with library vintage wines. The pacing of the entire day was awesome we never felt rushed, yet everything moved with a good steady pace. The level of personalized, concierge-style service we received was unmatched. They handled every detail, tracked our preferences, and even arranged for our case purchases to be seamlessly shipped directly to our home. This wasn't just a wine tasting trip; it was an unforgettable, five-star luxury experience. We will absolutely be booking again next year!

We started with a trip to the farmer's market, where Laurence pointed out different items and talked through the differences in different types of food (green garlic was new to me!). We later met at her home, and the cooking began. She did a good job of rotating the tasks throughout the group, and explaining the techniques as she went. We got to taste as we went, and after all the chopping was done, wine was served. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the other participants were friendly and engaged, making it a fun, social experience as well. And, of course, the best part was sitting down at the end to enjoy the fruits of our labor. The dishes we prepared were full of flavor and creativity, and I walked away feeling incredibly satisfied and inspired to keep cooking. I highly recommend this class to anyone who loves food and wants to expand their culinary horizons. You also should refrain from touching people's plates and cups as you discuss and show them the food items. I understand it's a food tour, but especially when you don't have clean hands, it's highly unsanitary! It's also a good idea to not greet dogs and let them lick all over you ... your hands.... your arms AND your face while you're interacting with people who are eating food, bringing them food from the restaurant & leading a tour. It's a good idea to give people space after you give them the information about the tour and the food and the art and let them socialize with the people that they came with. We should not have experience the person who is giving the tour or learning how to give a tourist next to you constantly asking you questions about what you're eating, what you're trying, where you're from or other questions that are really irrelevant .. it is pretty annoying & doesn't allow you to enjoy the experience fully. It's not a good idea to take shortcuts, because it's easier for you as the tour guide. One of our group members ate meat. The other 2 are vegetarians, but to keep it simple or make it easier. She was repeatedly offered vegetarian options and not given the opportunity to try the meat options along the tour. This was frustrating as you were very clear when setting up the tour, what the food restrictions were, we reminded them again when we got to the beginning of the tour and also reminded along the tour. How often will we need to say it in order to get the full experience. Although the tour guide and her trainee were very nice & social, it is not likely not an experience we'll do again.

People with reservations are boarded first followed by the standby people. I asked Captain Mike which side was the better one for viewing and was told, "The inside". LOL Now that I've taken the tour, I would say the driver's side is slightly better. My most favorite part of the tour was when the road vehicle turned into a watercraft! We went by the seals & birds on the dock and buoy. We saw Lil Toot taxiing passengers across the way. I might take that next time. It also provides a narrated tour. Our captain got us around without a hitch. The tour guide was the star of the show, she was so awesome! Maddy is very knowledgeable about the area and shared about the history. She also has a great delivery of fun facts! Her voice is used for various promotion bits for Santa Barbara. At the end of the tour, she played "Happy Birthday" on her trombone! Nicely talented! I brought a water bottle attached to a lanyard and both of these employees felt the need to judgmentally ask me if I "really needed that water bottle" and "are you sure that won't fall off?" Of course, the water bottle did fall off. When we got back, the man rudely and unnecessarily remarked "I told you it would fall off." I was paired with a terrible horse who did not follow any of my commands, constantly ate the vegetation, pinned his ears at and would try to bite the other horses for no reason, etc. I have some experience riding horses and I was doing my absolute best with this out-of-control horse. In turn, I was continually being barked at by the guides to "pull up on the reins and release, don't let him eat, kick him, go to the back, catch up to the rest of the group, keep him away from the other horses" etc. In addition, we rode through a very busy freeway overpass with multiple onramps/offramps and cars everywhere. We also passed right next to an active railroad. Of course, a train roared past a mere ten feet away from us. The horses spooked and it was a miracle that no one was thrown off. We were not given any prior warning that we would be riding in the middle of these very dangerous environments. If there was a warning in the waiver, I wouldn't have known because we were so rushed to sign it and had no time to read it. We finally made it to the actual beach and spent a mere 20 minutes on the shore before riding back through the danger zones towards home. I spent the entire ride pissed off, disappointed and feeling unsafe.
