What a hidden gem when it comes to needing a custom machine shop in the local area. They are OPEN!!…read more They guys and team here are awesome! They have tremendous experience with welding and that customization needed for certain parts and metal fabrication. I have seen them help with fork lifts, make brackets for construction company, fixing heavy equipment parts, stainless steal parts, and the list goes on. I would highly recommend Suwanee Machine Shop for any of your metal fabrication, customization needs, especially with a one off part needed and fix.

If, on the other hand, you've got a custom metalworking job to do and your skills tend to lie more in the ethereal realm of "iOS Programming" than in the physical realm of "banging on pieces of metal" then this might just be your place. The machine shop is something that, 60 years ago, everyone knew about. Today? Just finding one is a struggle. Luckily when I had an issue with motorcycle parts, Suwanee Machine Shop was there and they got the job done. I went in and said "I need this piece to fit on this piece" (imagine in your head a round peg and a square hole). The guy nodded, said "Sure, we can do that. It'll be about $40. Come back next week." I came back the following week and he said "Right, did you want it to be on that side or this other side?" Duh. I told him which side I wanted the peg to fit in and he just said "Great. Come back next week." The following week, I walked in, the parts were done and he said "Here ya go. How much did I tell you for these?" "Fourty", I replied." "Sounds about right" he said. I loved finding a shop like that that'll just do the job ya have.

The worst machine shop I've had the misfortune of dealing with, personally and professionally…read more Issues: Poor workmanship and quality, incomplete work, low levels of professionalism or professional courtesy, billing for work not performed, and lastly doing unauthorized work. I have had numerous awful experiences both personal and professional with this machine shop. They come highly recommended over the years so I expected at least a 4/5 star service and workman ship to be top notch. They have been in the business for a long time, so you expect a shop like theirs to have it down to a process. Personal: I had my engine built for my track car a shop on the other side of town, I was excited to see the shop I had selected using Ball. I got the engine completely overbuilt, got it on the Dyno for the tune, and my very experienced tuner noticed a noise that caused him to cut off the session and advise me to get it towed back to the shop. Turns out Ball Engine had clearanced my engine wrong, requiring my shop to spend the time to take the motor out and replace Cams, Crank, And all valves and retainers. Another 2 months of my car being down, and she's back. Finally everything seems right. 7K miles later, my engine in my track car snapped a valve on track. Bucket wasn't spinning. Engine seized. 10 K down the drain, because of their mistake. No warranty. Professional: They also did work for my Dealer. Sent some heads over to be inspected and advise on needed work. My customer was on a tight budget rebuild. Ball engine does 500 dollars of unauthorized work. The heads don't even look cleaned. It's still got a bent valve. Subsequently, Each of our service advisors has at least one "incident" with this machine shop, all having to do with work quality and price. It is apparent that Ball Engine is riding on its laurels of previous work and does not care one bit about its customers. Skip this place and save yourself many headaches.

Both Andrew and David Ball are extremely knowledgeable and has been extremely helpful. They always get my specs down to the exact one-tenth of a thousand. This is the machine shop to go to if you have any motor builds, projects or whatever you need done to your engine.

I used Mike to replace 2 catalytic converters on my car. He did the 1st repair in a timely manner…read moreand gave me a warranty sheet to send into the company, Cateran and the warranty was supposed to replace the part if it went out before 5 years. The part actually went out before 12 months, and then he alluded that the warranty wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. If I wanted the part company, Cateran, to honor their warranty I would have to leave my car with him for at least 10+ days so that Cateran could get a warranty rep to come out. Needless to say there was no way I could leave my car for 10 days, so I had him replace the catalytic converter again and pay again. In the interim before the 1st repair went bad, I had him replace the 2nd catalytic converter. He used the same parts company, Cateran, and gave me a copy of the warranty to send into Cateran, which I did again. Now that the 2nd CC has gone out before 12months, Mike will not take my calls. Additionally, I have reached out to Cateran regarding their warranty (email response only, no phone#) they have not responded as well. Buyer Beware!!

I had an aftermarket exhaust that another shop installed for me that caused drivability issues…read moreabout 3 years. The issues started showing up after I had the exhaust installed but I wasn't sure if it was actually caused by the exhaust. The issue was the exhaust vibrating during wet rainy days when cruising on the highway severely where it bashes against the chassis causing the car rear end to fishtail where I have to slow down and focus to keep it in the lane on the highway. My personal mechanic helped me confirm what the issue was and showed me on a lift that my exhaust was merely millimeters away from my drive shaft. She showed me the exhaust was mounted kind of crooked and an exhaust specialist can help me correct the fitment. I was disappointed with the previous exhaust shop I had the exhaust installed at so decided to try a different establishment and found my way to Haddad Discount Muffler which wasn't far from the previous exhaust shop I initially got my exhaust installed at. My biggest problem with the other exhaust shop is that the owner just lets his junior do everything practically unsupervised which lead me to the situation I was trying to resolve. The owner of Haddad Discount Muffler took more of an active role. After I described what was happening with my exhaust and showed him where the exhaust was rubbing, he told me what he can do to resolve it. I ask him about the price quote because he doesn't except credit so I will have to used debit, I had to make sure the job was within my means to pay. He quoted me between $100 and $200 which was a safe range for me. I then told him the exhaust tips was crooked, and I can never get them to be symmetrical. He said he can adjust them and spot weld them, so they stay in place. I then finally told him I got new tips in the back of the car and that is when he said, this may affect the price as he has to see how well they fit. Now he got his junior over to work on my exhaust. I was worried as I can never seem to get the people with the most experience to do the work, but the owner took an active role. He told his junior where to cut, where to weld, he shifted everything into place and lined up and measured everything meticulously and kept asking me if I'm happy with where everything was sitting. I was happy to see him measure the distance the exhaust tips sit from each other and how far the sit from the side and top of the bumper. The replacement exhaust tips I have given him to install were much shorter than old cheap tips they replaced. Mike was skeptical that they would fit but I told him they don't need to protrude if they hug the bumper neatly, I would be happy with it. When he was done, the quad exhaust tips were sitting tight and symmetrical within the bumper, vastly improved over the way the previous tips fit. He had his junior spot weld them in place, so they don't shift but allows for easy removal if taken to exhaust specialists. The price ended up being well under $200 and I was very happy with the job.
