Hard to believe you are just minutes from the hustle and bustle of both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It was busy when I arrived but the service was prompt, friendly and informed. During a recent visit to the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, my partner and I dropped into…read morethe Cove Cafe for the Seafood Buffet. The first thing that grabbed my attention when I entered the restaurant was the chocolate fountain. It was at this point I had to decide - do I begin with desert or seafood. Thinking about the amount I paid for the buffet, I decided to begin with seafood. The prawns, spanner crab and bug were all very fresh. However, I could not get past the huge baked salmon. It was absolutely delightful, and became my staple food for the evening. Finally, it was desert time. The cupcakes, slices, brownies, chocolate lollipops, chocolate fountain and cheese (just to name a few items in this huge desert selection) were all divine. My dinner expanded to about 6 courses (3 of which being desert and cheese). At first look, this buffet is quite expensive. However, when you arrive, you will realise this is quite good value. If you stay anywhere surrounding Sanctuary Cove, you must try the Cove Cafe seafood buffet.

No...that would have been the smart thing to do ... but apparently their business mode is if a customer complains about their horrible treatment, food and non existent service- do not apologise for taking their money under false pretences - don't refund them - don't offer them another meal on another night with better service - The Whistlestop's idea of improved costumer service is to BAN THE PERSON from even having coffee at their glorified pizza shop- so that they never get a chance to make it up to you - OK So now I feel I have to officially retract all of the nice things I have said in the past about The Whistlestop and the excuses I have made for their frequent bad nights and all the bad reviews they have had from so many others .... my official review now is : DONT GO UNLESS YOU ARE A MASOCHIST - move over madam lash service on the Gold Coast has hit an all time low ..... (if you do go there and receive bad service, don't say anything to anyone as you will be placed on their black list of people with good enough taste to expect a modicum of good service, which I am sure is growing every day- just eat and drink whatever you are given, even though it may not be what you ordered or is just awful - just shut up and put up with it. ) Off the the Ramada at Hope Harbour instead -the food is cheaper better and the service is great!
