It just has to be in here somewhere . . . .
Is what you will be thinking when you walk through the front door. Wall to wall and floor to curved ceiling (this is the left front half of a Quonset Hut) filled with fun stuff. Little and not so little knick knacks, statuettes, toys (they had Sock Monkeys! how cool is that?), vintage style clothing, oriental inspired decor items, paintings, jewelery, gemmy stones, fountains, hats, tin-can-robot-art (my favorite). The inventory is dynamic, so almost every visit is a fresh experience.
Raffael has another place in New Haven that I have yet to see.
Staff here is always helpful and friendly, never over bearing. Be careful when inside as the walkways are narrow, and if you are at all tall, watch-out for things hanging from above (I got lightly cloncked by a wooden monkey, I thought it was an accident, but as I turned away, I may have heard monkey snickers).
My thing is getting a coffee next door, then shopping in here.
Prices are all over the place in here, but I have purchased items for as low as $4.00 and have seen paintings up into the hundreds. There are just so many items in here that statistically you should find a treasure at the right price.
My missing fifth star, like the coffee cafe next door, is mostly for painful parking. Seriously, I did not hold that monkey incident against them, and I have not seen him hanging around lately. But he could be hiding, and waiting, , for me, , , or for you . . . . . read more
