As an artist, I was very excited to visit this gallery space! When we visited, Gallery M was split into two rectangular exhibition spaces, so we saw two exhibitions while we were here.
This is a gallery that strives to nurture local talent - I have just entered one of my woven tapestries into the yearly community art exhibition that will open soon, which is open to all City Of Marion residents, and is supposed to be a snapshot of what community members have created over the last year. What a fantastic idea! I had no idea that Gallery M did this, so will definitely be keeping an eye out for future events.
Gallery M also takes submissions from groups wanting to exhibit in their space - while I was there Ozquilts Australia and the Class Act Collective were exhibiting - lots of textile art (which is rarely exhibited, so that was exciting!), and a great range of artistic styles. While we were there, two of the artists gave an informal Artist Talk, which was very interesting.
The Gallery is open every day, so there's always time to visit! Even though it is near the Marion Shopping Centre, it has its own carpark, so it's easy to get to.
I can't wait to visit here again! read more
