GALILEO, WE MISS YOU! Anuja, Cathe, Jessica, April, Cassie, Krystal, RoseMarie, Jaqueline, Hilda (who am I forgetting?) -- these teachers and staff are second to none. My daughter went to Galileo all the way from Room 1 to Room 3. She came out of Galileo at age 4.5 as a curious, confident, happy, social kid who also had an incredible academic foundation to build on going forward. She was counting to 100 by 10s, writing sentences, adding and subtracting, expressing herself well, applying logic to problems, working in teams, reading a few words, and most important - she had a love for learning new things, while also feeling loved herself. The teachers and admins made life incredibly easy on the parents. Terrific communication all the way around -- from quick afterschool chats if needed, to weekly email updates and photos to monthly newsletters, progress reports, and fun community events. The school itself is clean and well-organized. It feels like a warm, family-focused place right when you walk in the door. Of course it doesn't hurt that Miss Cathe is usually right there saying good morning to everyone with a huge smile or a hug. :) Sometimes you don't know how great your school is until you can contrast it again something else. We moved from San Jose to Marin earlier this year and sadly had to leave Galileo before our daughter could finish out Room 3 with them. We checked out six preschools in our new neighborhood before deciding on one, and it's just not the same on so many levels. The teachers in the new school are amazed by the things our kid has already learned -- so much so that our daughter spends a lot of her time teaching the other kids! (Which is not a bad thing; sometimes teaching what you know is a terrific way to increase your own understanding of it). On our last day at Galileo, everyone in Room 3 students and teachers alike, each wrote a little letter to our daughter describing their favorite things about her. I was so touched to see how well they all knew her and loved her, and my daughter felt like a hero for days to come (which was important during the strain and loneliness of a relocation). We have been at Galileo for almost one year and can't be happier. The school is amazing. The teachers are amazing. I was reminded of that yesterday when I went pick up my child and she was sitting at the table doing "art" but really was reviewing the letters of the alphabet. They make learning fun and do it in a creative way! Another example is teaching my daughter about the continents through song! Everyday she comes home and we are amazed at the things she has learned. In addition to the teachers, the owner and assistant director are wonderful. They greet us with a smile each day, coordinate amazing events such as holiday and international shows and keep everything running smoothly. The school is clean, organized, provides good meals and really fosters a sense of community through PTA events. We love love love Galileo!!! read more

Amazing preschool! So happy to have found Galileo - our daughter truly loves it there and is thriving. She is beyond ready for kindergarten already. And kid #2 starts here this summer. Real disappointment!!! I read the good reviews and I believe these are from parents who didn't face any challenge with their child's development. My son attended the school for almost 3 months. He loved school and the teachers loved him. The curriculum was diverse and there were a lot of activities during day. The problem started when my son faced a difficulty that was normal for his age group and that is totally part of his natural development. The school didn't have any patience nor tolerance to that and asked us to take him out of school. We were really offended of how easy they give up of a child. As an educational institute I would expect them to accept not only the successful kids but to care for the ones who needs more attention. If your child is not falling into their pattern you will need to find a different school since your child will not be happy there. We were so offended by the way Mrs Burns (the manager) kicked our son from School, like she was throwing a piece of garbage, not a 2 year old child. She could have invited us and explain their reasons, which probably we would not agree, but we would understand that this is her business and the school's policy. Instead her assistant called us over the phone and asked to pick him up immediately and not dropping him the day after. Not sensitivity what so ever. When you deal with people you need to understand that there are emotions involved. I wish they will read this review and learn to be more sensitive and human to other parents who are facing problems with their kids. read more

As a few other parents before have mentioned - this place is indeed perfect for those PERFECT-AUTOMATED-PROGRAMMED kids. If your kid doesn't fall into this category for some reason, or if your kid seeks compassion, love and care - I strongly suggest you to look somewhere else. The owner is dictating what should a compliant child behavior look like, and the teachers are then left with the only choice of enforcing it on the kids, whether they like it or not, regardless of parents' point of view whatsoever. ZERO tolerance for the other, the different. Your kid will either 100% fit into their pattern or would get kicked out immediately, almost without any previous warning (what has just happened to our kid and a few other kids before us). This institution is nothing but a business. Shame on them for even daring calling it an educational environment. read more

This review is LONG overdue! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Galileo. It was the best decision we made for our family. My oldest daughter started here when she was 2.5 years old. After visiting with other preschools, I was getting worried that we would never find a good fit for Chloe and our family. Being a first time mom at the time, finding the right preschool for my daughter was one of the most stressful decisions I had to make. My husband and I are both working parents and we didn't have an option but to find care for my daughter. The very first day we stopped in to Galileo, I knew in my heart that this was the place for her. The school was BRIGHT, CLEAN, WARM and INVITING and our entire family felt welcomed. The walls were covered with beautiful colorful artwork of all kinds. We visited the classrooms and I still remember the feeling I got when I saw how happy the kids looked and how wonderful the teachers were with them. I can see that from my child's perspective, this was a fun and loving school. I noticed right away that the classrooms were designed well for learning and for playing where there are individual stations/areas for each. I knew in my heart that this was a SAFE place. They had a waitlist at the time, but we were eager to get on the waitlist and asked that they call us as soon as a spot opened up. My daughter was currently attending Bright Horizons and the environment there could not compare to Galileo. When Mrs. Burns called us to tell us that a spot as opened, we quickly moved our daughter to Galileo. Transition from one preschool to Galileo for Chloe was easy. She was so happy. I couldn't believe how easy the transition was because she was constantly crying at Bright Horizons. It was like night and day for her. For the 3 years she spent there, leaving preschool was sometimes difficult. She often asked if we could stay a little longer. I built friendships with the parents and teachers of this school. Another wonderful thing about Galileo is the community which is also very important to me. Galileo provides opportunities for parents to get to know each other and build the parent and teacher community. Our family has built long lasting friendships. The school also embraces diversity and has an awesome set of curriculum from Social Science to History to Art and Music to Science and Math, you name it. They make it fun for the kids and families - it's never a boring day! The school provides opportunities for parents to come in to the classroom to talk about their cultural backgrounds. Children learned about different countries, China, Russia, India, Egypt, Philippines, Vietnam, Mexico, America, etc. The school has a holiday show, international show a spring show and a summer luau. Galileo helps kids build their confidence in everything that they do, which is extremely important to me. Galileo has well prepared my oldest daughter for kindergarten and it was sad to say goodbye. She's thriving in kindergarten now and I have to thank Galileo for everything they taught her. I'm very happy to say that my youngest that is three years old is at Galileo. Every day she looks forward to going to school and comes home with so much to tell me. Besides being such a wonderful school, my husband and I personally love the fact that the school makes life much more convenient for the parents. They really make it easy to work with our work schedules for early drop offs and late pickups. I also really like how the teachers, staff and director communicate with us. They keep us in the loop with everything that is happening at school and with our children. They communicate with us frequently. Their doors are always open for us to swing by and stop in to talk about anything. This was a plus for me because I never felt rushed in a conversation when talking with the teachers, staff or director like I did with her previous school. They really truly care about what we have to say as parents and care about the best interest of our children. I have NO DOUBT that this is the best decision we made in choosing Galileo as our family preschool. If they opened a private school beyond pre-k, we would have our children attend! read more

We are very happy and super pleased with our experience with Galileo Preschool. Both my kids enjoyed their experience here and believe it or not loved going to school! I have 3 kids and really wished my oldest could have attended Galileo. Compared to Action Day Primary Plus and Challenger, Galileo Preschool is by far a well rounded school for preschoolers. The staff are amazing, kind, warm, and makes every effort to make sure your child is comfortable and happy on a daily basis. My daughter attended Galileo for 3 years and was well prepared for Kindergarten at public school when she graduated. The teachers do such a great job preparing the kids academically while ensuring they have a wholesome and rich experience. (My son was singing in French last week! Amazing!) Communication between the facility and parents is fantastic with the monthly newsletters, weekly emails, and event emails. When there is a problem or issue at school the teachers and staff make every effort to resolve it. For instance, my son kept having accidents in school in room 2. The teachers reached out to me to come up with a plan to help him get potty trained at school and at home. Within a few weeks, he was accident free! I highly recommend Galileo Preschool. read more

I'm a fan, this place was the best decision for my daughter. She wakes up wanting to go to preschool. Our previous experiences with other preschools wasn't as exciting. My daughter comes home telling me about the bible stories she learned, the prayers she has heard, the art she has done, the food she ate, the kids she played with, the awesome teachers she has, and can't stop talking. For a 4yr old to not stop talking about a place it has to be pretty special. She asks me every day are we going, even on the weekends. I love that she has a place that she fits in and feels loved. We went to about 10 different preschools to check out before we picked this one. It just felt right from the moment we walked in the door. Oh and they teach Spanish, sign language, and lots of cool subjects like math, history, and writing. They even have a computer lab. When we came across Galileo while touring visiting preschools in the area we knew right away we wanted our daughter to be part of this amazing school and community. The school is well maintained, clean, great looking classrooms with a variety of tools to educate the children as well as a great play structure outside. It's the staff and teachers who make Galileo such a great preschool. The teachers are outstanding. They are very nurturing and have been amazing educators to my daughter. She has learned so much while attending Galileo and loves going to school. They have a great academic curriculum as well as incorporating cultural studies in the classroom. In addition to academics, Galileo also hosts great events like the Holiday Show, Spring Show, International Show and a Summer Luau. This is definitely a hidden gem of a pre-school in San Jose, and I'm surprised the school doesn't have more reviews, but that might be due to the fact that it recently underwent a change in management (the new owner Mrs. Burns is so great!), which has led to a ton of fantastic improvements and changes. Let me name a few highlights: 1. First, there is a lot of attention for each student - the teacher to student ratio is 1 to 6 - and all of the kids are great and get along really well. 2. Next, they're great at teaching core subjects but also invest a lot in enriching subjects like Music, Dance, Geography, and foreign language. 3. Really convenient location, right near the intersection of highways 85 and 87. 4. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks included in the tuition. 5. Most importantly, the new school leader Mrs. Burns and her teachers really care about and love all of the kids. I definitely highly recommend Galileo - I think they provide comparable programming and services as the "elite" programs (e.g., Challenger, Stratford), but in a more personal, intimate, and affordable manner! read more

Fantastic school. My son is here since a year now and am very happy with the progress. Mrs.Burns, Mrs.Mable,Ms.Crystal and the new Ms.Naomi and Ms. Jaqueline are all good with kids. They are very patient and kids love them. I see happy kids and happy teachers here. I would have never known about this school thanks to a good friend. Perfect balance of Art and Study. They have awesome celebrations though out the year from Diwali, Chinese new year to Christmas. Facility is very clean and Mrs.Burns takes care of the premises like her own home. Individual restrooms in each room. The only down side is the parking and not too much of play area but since it is only until 4year olds and the playtime is distributed it works. Friday is a fun day with pizza and sharing day. The food is included in the fee and it is yummy. They take special care if there are any food allergies. Galileo Preschool is a great balance of play/interaction/learning. We are very satisfied with the teachers and staff. Everyone is helpful, warm and always welcoming. Galileo staff spells everything out with schedule and how your child is doing. Interaction with all the children is consistant and helpful each day. Our daughter came over to Galileo in February from another preschool and we couldn't be happier. Teachers and staff were and are so helpful and wonderful with her. We love Galileo! Our son Jack is the first to go to Galileo and will be graduating this year. Our second son is there now and our daughter will be starting in Sept 2019. We have nothing but positive things to say about Galileo, the curriculum is well rounded, the teachers are awesome and the facilities are always well cleaned and organized. My husband and I toured many facilities before choosing Galileo. Even though we were on the waitlist for about two years, it was all worth it. We have seen how our son Jack has grown the last few years and the things that he has learned. It's not just the standard curriculum, Anuja has included extra activities like soccer, basketball and piano the last few years, which is a nice addition for those busy working parents who might not have the time to take their kids to additional activities during the week. I truly believe that the best part of Galileo are the families. Ms. Burns really fosters diversity in the school and their curriculum. Best decision ever to send our daughter to Galileo preschool! We did a lot of research into preschools a couple years ago and originally Galileo wasn't in our consideration set because it was a little more than we wanted to spend. We were all set to sign up for another school and after looking at the yelp reviews, we decided at the last minute to do a tour. There was such a positive vibe on the tour. We expected at this price point for it to be a rigorous academic academy, which we were not looking for. But what we saw was a family atmosphere where we wanted to send our daughter. So we changed our mind and paid a bit more to send her to Galileo. And that is what it has become for us. Ms. Burns is fabulous. You can tell how much she cares for the children. Every teacher my daughter has had has been phenomenal. Galileo is a place the best teachers want to work and it shows in low turnover and happy teachers. I consider Galileo to be part of our family and important part of my daughter becoming a happy, caring, and loving person. I highly recommend Galileo to anyone who is looking. We are so lucky to have found them. And now that our daughter is graduating, we couldn't be more thrilled that our youngest daughter will be starting in the fall. read more

We're now on kid number 2 now enrolled at Galileo. From the first time my wife and I came to tour we were very impressed with the facilities and the staff. At the time we were looking for a preschool that would challenge our kids academically without burning them out... Galileo was exactly what we were looking for! Because of my work I visit a ton of preschools and see a lot of the teachers and staff members that just look plain tired and unenthusiastic to be there. The staff at Galileo on the other hand is upbeat, overtly friendly and genuinely enthusiastic at both drop of and pick up. I come from a family of educators and it's seems that the key to learning and personal growth especially in our kids is to create the right atmosphere for learning. One with balance and structure so that our children feel comfortable and safe. Once they feel that stability it opens the doors for them to start exploring their curiosity and the world around them. In this category, they definitely get 5 stars! After all preschool is meant to prepare our kids for elementary school and I find my oldest child's success in kindergarten as a major indication of this. On a side note. I can't help but to laugh at the comment in some of the other reviews I've read about your kids needing to be perfect to attend Galileo! My kids are special and amazing but like all kids challenge authority, test boundaries and some days wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Galileo has always been very sweet and patience with my kids, even when they are testing those boundaries. I can't imagine what it would take to be kicked out. In addition to this Mrs. Burns has been very accommodating to my family and our needs in so many ways. If you're lucky enough to get in and have the opportunity to send your kids here, it will be one of the best decisions you will make towards your child's future success! My youngest is wrapping up the school year in Room 3 and I must say that I'm sad to leave Galileo! After being on the wait list for my older child and then my younger child, we joined Galileo Preschool when my younger was 3. And ever since that day, we have been nothing but pleased with the teachers, the loving and patient environment, and the academics. My child is always happy about going to school and never wants to leave at the end of the day. My older one even says he enjoys going to his sister's school to pick her up because it is such a fun place. My older is in Kindergarten and is learning the same curriculum (sometimes less than) as my daughter in Room 3. I love that the academics are so well rounded and the kids are being taught art (famous artists), Geography (different countries and cultures), and science (child appropriate science experiments) that make learning fun for them. The children are also encouraged to be kind, compassionate, and confident individuals. Anuja (the director) and Cathe (assistant director) make such an effort to celebrate all cultures and diversities that are represented by the families by organizing various shows throughout the year. We've been shopping pre-schools for my nephew - exhausting! - and thankfully came across Galileo. The curriculum is incredible and I'm excited he'll be able to stretch his math/science muscles but also focus on creativity (music/dance class) and technology (there's a computer lab to work on phonics and motor skills! Even the 2s get access to the lab). During our visit the kids seemed really happy and eager to learn - the teachers were engaging and emphasized varied hands-on activities. I was able to watch while the kids picked sunflower seeds out of a giant sunflower and cooked them to eat. It was educational for me too! My favorite was Geography. I learned from the school founder, Mrs. Burns, that the kids will learn about a different country each week starting with the countries their school friends are from - parents can bring in clothes, food, and pictures to help them learn about the country and diversity. What a great idea! I wish I had something like this while growing up. We've shopped most of the best programs in the area but Galileo feels a lot more friendly, private, and affordable. I spoke to a parent who even mentioned there's a potty training program for the really young kids. Overall, the most important things to us are an excellent education, enthusiastic teachers who can spread their passion for learning/teaching, and confidence that our kids are safe and being cared for by the right people. I really felt this in meeting with the new school founder (Mrs. Burns) and some of the teachers, all of which were experienced and very nurturing. read more

Our daughter just graduated from Galileo Preschool, and we could not be more pleased with the experience she's had over the past two years there. We had toured the school and immediately fell in love with it, but because we knew how popular it was, we weren't optimistic we'd be able to get in. Indeed, we entered the lottery to join the waitlist for Room 2 (the 3-4s class), but were thrilled to be offered a spot before the school year started. As it was our daughter's first experience at any sort of drop-off program, she initially had a tough time adjusting, but the caring staff and teachers at Galileo were incredibly supportive and worked with us to come up with different approaches to make her more comfortable. Ms. Anuja (the school's director) and Ms. Cathe (the assistant director) were also wonderful about showing us her progress by sending updates and photos via email and text. Before long, our daughter looked forward to going to school each day and seeing her friends and teachers. The school offers an amazing blend of academics, art, music, cultural education, and play, in addition to a variety of fun events for the Galileo community. We are certain that our daughter will succeed in kindergarten once she starts later this summer, not only because she has received such a comprehensive academic education (reading/writing/math/etc.) at Galileo, but also because her experience has given her the confidence to speak up, ask questions, meet and befriend new people, and perform in front of an audience. The school also emphasizes the importance of being kind, polite, and thoughtful, which is so important in today's world. In short, we highly, highly recommend checking out Galileo if you're looking for a well-rounded preschool for your child! I can't recommend this school enough. I believe most preschools are inclined to park your child and ride out the day with cheap labor and play time. This school is completely different. My son attended and not only loved his teachers and fellow students - he graduated reading full sentences, writing words (30-40 words), and understanding how to complete basic math. My only worry is that now that he is in Kindergarten he will stagnate or become bored because he graduated at such an advanced state. The school is reasonably priced, well run, and the staff and teachers are extremely friendly to both students and parents. read more

I had to take my son out due to our family moving to a different state. It's been almost 5 months, I found a new preschool for him but could never find one as wonderful as Galileo. His teachers in room 1 still message me on occasion to he how he is adjusting. They even sent a video of all his old friends saying Hi to him. Our daughter has been at this school for over an year now. We just moved into the neighborhood and we didn't know anyone. The teachers not only made sure our daughter felt loved and welcomed into the school but they also helped us plan play dates with other kids in her class so she felt she belonged there. Its amazing how much personal attention they gave in spite of the busy days they had. My daughter never liked coming home and would always she wants to stay there. Parents really are involved in this school cause we get invited to parents teachers conference and they present an annual report on how your kid is doing. They also had so many stage shows and my daughter really felt like she is a star. Its the best decision for your kid and they really mean it when they say "dare to find happier kids". This review is a long over due. Our first daughter started in Room 2 over 2 years ago, graduated from Room 3 and now our 2nd daughter is in Room 1. I'm extremely surprised at the negative reviews I read, as this place has been nothing short of a second home for my children. They have been welcoming, flexible, professional and just plain amazing since the initial tour before my first daughter's enrollment. During this tour one of the biggest things that stood out to me was the cleanliness, friendliness and the fact that there wasn't a single crying child. The children all seemed happy and situated and the teachers talked to them as "friends". I felt as though the curriculum gave an even balance of play and academics. Mrs. Burns was upfront about expectations for the children and in each classroom; none of which I felt were extreme or unusual. My second daughter was running into issues of biting and I asked what the policy was regarding said issue. I was told that if it became a problem, which is more then 3 bites, she would have a closer eye kept on her. If it still continued, we would start a sticker chart. If it did not subside, she would need to be picked up that day and put on a brake to give her some separation. If it continued after that, which it normally does not, she would need to be removed. It wasn't anything personal, it is a health/safety issue. This seems to be standard policy at all preschools. When my older daughter was in room 2, she was only attending part time. Galileo was accommodating to the fact that I wanted the class work for the entire week so she could practice at home and I could follow along with the routine. They printed me out sheets and sent home a packet in her folder every week. There were multiple times I reached out specifically to Mrs. Burns if I had worries with a certain behavior. She always took the time to meet with me and ease my worries or recommend books and whatever other resources or advice she could offer.  I feel like Mrs. Burns and all her staff go above and beyond in every aspect of their school. I am warmly greeted every morning at drop off and at pick up and they make sure to take the extra few moments to see how my family and I are doing. This happens both at the front desk and upon entering the classrooms. They show a genuine interest in my family's wellbeing and strive to make us feel welcome in their Galileo family. My younger daughter has had some challenging behavioral issues and Mrs. Burns and her staff have been understanding, helpful and an active in finding a solution that worked for them and for us. I also want to point out, that Mrs. Burns took personal time to contact me multiple times by phone, email and in person while she was on maternity leave. That in its self deserves 5 stars. My first daughter started Kindergarten this year. She went in as the youngest child in her class and still she far exceeded her new teachers expectations for Kindergarten preparedness. It clearly shows in her academics, emotions and behaviors. There is no doubt in my mind that the Galileo family helped shape her into the amazing little lady she is today. Like I said, I can't give enough positive feedback about this place. They deserve 100 stars! If you are looking for a great preschool for your children and have time for a walk-thru, do it. This review is so late, but I wanted to share our wonderful experience we had with Galileo, the principal, and the staff. Our daughter was very blessed to be able to attend all 3 years there. I won't go into details about the excellent curriculum and class ratios as other Reviewers have mentioned them already. One aspect I wanted to mention that I found so important is that they also focus on the essentials of becoming a kind, considerate, confident, responsible and respectful person. I feel our daughter has learned so much about the appropriate way of expressing herself, how her actions affect others, compassion for others, the freedom to be who she is, and the confidence to do so. The entire staff is so supportive of the children and provide exceptional care, not only per safety and education, but also emotionally and psychologically. I'm not privy as to why students may be asked to leave Galileo, but in our experience, it was due to inappropriate behavior of a classmate which could have led to safety concerns for the other students. It wasn't a one time incident, as the staff do consider the age of the children and # of occurrences along with the actual situation. They do contact parents immediately when situations arise and have always been open to discussion, as well as working with the children to improve the behavior. Both my kids go to Galileo (in Room 1 and Room 2) and they are both having the best time of their life. I am sure they will never find such a nurturing environment with highly skilled caring teachers. When my little boy started, he would say only a few words. Now, a year later he knows all the letters and he can even draw some of them. I've always been able to openly talk to Ms Burns about anything and it feels like talking to a dear friend who has precious advise on how to raise kids, without sounds fake. Absolutely awesome preschool. My daughter spent 3 years here (room 1 through room 3). She left Galileo a confident 5 year old who could read, write and do math at the Kindergarten level. Apart from the academics, the cultural diversity and the events that are planned by the school, bring this diversity into the classroom providing an immersive experience for the kids. My daughter knows more about some countries and cultures than I do. I did not expect to learn stuff from her so soon :). The shows that the school organizes throughout the year allows the kids to get over stage fright in a safe and stress free environment. I saw my daughter on stage in room 1 during the shows barely open her mouth to singing loudly in room 2 and room 3. My son now goes to Galileo. He had some serious separation anxiety. The teachers were so loving and caring through those initial months, watching out for him, holding and comforting him as he adjusted. Now he is in room 2 and cannot wait to get to school every morning. Getting him out of school at 6 pm is sometimes a struggle as he does not want to leave. We have been lucky to have both our kids go through Galileo. The teachers are fantastic and genuinely love the kids and their jobs. While the school runs like clockwork, very professionally managed we always feel we get personal attention to any queries we may have. This is THE best school you can imagine for your little ones. My daughter attended Galileo from 2 years old until she turns 4, and she had to leave the school when we moved to another city where we couldn't possibly find a school as good as Galileo. This school has everything you want. - Very good academic curriculum for little kids; We, as parents, expect a good education program even for preschoolers. - The most caring teachers ; Every classroom has a caregiver besides main teachers so your little kids can get help with little but essential stuff like cleaning hands, and wiping bottoms, feeding snacks, and even emotional support when they don't feel well. I didn't know having a caregiver is so important until we don't have one at a new school (My kid still asks for Ms.Carmen from her classroom when she gets a Booboo) - A variety of events throughout the year ; Galileo has a big event almost every quarter which is not overwhelm but just right for working parents such as Spring show around Easter, international fair around fourth of July, Luau Festival in the summer, and Christmas show. In additional, there are so many little events like mother's day "Breakfast with mommy", father's day "build-something with daddy", V-day party, Thanksgiving party, Halloween party... etc where you can enjoy your kids cute performances and meet other parents too. - Love ; This is the most important fact most parents are looking for when it comes to their kids. Our children have thrived in ways we never thought possible and it is because of Galileo Preschool. This school prepares children socially and academically above grade level all while having fun with their friends, dancing and lots of singing. From the Teachers to the Directors they treat each child like their own. If we could we would put our children through 12th grade at Galileo Preschool. Yes, I am so in love with this school that I have mentioned this comment to several Teachers and the Directors at the school. This school is out of our way in terms of location, but it is well worth it for the care, learning and fun our children receive on a daily basis. Sending my daughter to Galileo is one of the BEST decisions I've ever made. My husband and I checked out a handful of other schools and Galileo was BY FAR superior to any other school. We were on the waitlist for a few months and we were always kept updated as to the progress of the waitlist. We were thrilled when they finally had a spot in room 1. On my daughter's first day I was the one crying! But everybody gave me a hug and for the whole first week her teacher's sent me pictures and updates of about how well she was adjusting. My daughter is now in Room 2 and she loves her teachers! she often comes home and plays school and rotates which teacher she will be. My child is not perfect, automated or programmed. My child has faced challenges with certain aspects of her development. The entire staff at Galileo has shown amazing support. Not only have they been supportive with my daughter but I spoke with a mother who confided to me that her child was having behavioral concerns. She went on to tell me the the staff has been supportive in providing behavior management interventions and had been working closely with her son. Mrs. Burns and the rest of the staff are the most tolerant and patient people i have have had the pleasure of meeting. When you become part of the Galileo family...you feel just that. You become part of a family that cares for each and every member and works hard to provide the best for everyone. They are compassionate, kind, caring, and patient. This is evident in the way they interact with the children in their care and all they do to make sure that Galileo is safe and happy place to be. I am so grateful that my daughter's first memories of school will be marked by positivity, tolerance, and acceptance. I have NEVER felt that this place is "just a business." It is a wonderful school that feels more like home and a place where my child can learn and grow in a loving safe environment. In regards to a couple of the negative reviews that were posted: I am Counselor for special education and I work specifically with a program for children who have been labeled as emotionally disturbed. Literally every student in my program has behavioral concerns. I speak with parents on a daily basis and understand the frustration felt by all parties involved when a child's behavior is difficult and they are not responding to interventions. I also understand the heartbreak when I have to be part of making the difficult decision that a child cannot safely be a part of the program. If interventions have been tried, and behavior management isn't working, the school also has a duty to to rest of the student population to keep the environment safe. I know that I would be upset about being asked to take my child out of the school. However, I would also need to look at the situation from the other perspective. It's a hard pill to swallow but I would take it as a great opportunity to find more appropriate interventions that would meet my child's unique needs. Please don't make a negative judgement about Galileo based on an emotional response to a very difficult situation. I understand and feel the frustration that people may feel when they are told something concerning about their child so I don't blame anyone for being upset, However, Galileo is not to blame. read more

We've been lucky to send both our kids to Galileo. While at the school, our kids have flourished from learning ABCs, numbers and countries to picking up good habits like cleaning up after play and respecting other kids in the classroom. I can always tell how content and happy my kids are when I pick them at the end of the day. Even after spending a long day at Galileo (8a to 5:30p), my kids often do not want to come home. They love playing with other kids and their teachers. The teachers are friendly, cooperative and fun. Both my children have formed strong bonds with teachers in their respective classrooms. The teachers also do a great job with organizing events (halloween parade, spring show, international day etc.). Finally, we've gotten to know some wonderful families at the school through birthdays, play dates and parent nights. We've become close friends with some of them and even recently went to Disneyland and a Cruise to Mexico with some of them! Simply put: the best preschool in the South Bay. Since the day we found out my daughter got into Galileo, we have been over the moon. She is now in room 3, and our son will be starting there soon. I could not imagine another school for my kids. The quality of the teachers, facilities, curriculum is exceptional. They have done a great job including play and academic in one. The assistant director:Ms. Cathe is so warm and friendly and honestly knows everything so well, it makes you as a parent feel so at ease leaving your child. The director Anuja is amazing, she is a genius from her educational background. But is approachable, and very understanding and empathetic to parents needs. Now being in every classroom: the teachers are all just amazing. The school does a great job of keeping parents involved, weekly emails, monthly newsletters, parent involved celebrations. You will not find a better school for your kids. Trust me: I looked at over 30 schools, the day we found out my daughter was accepted to Galileo: we celebrated!! My daughter has learned so much academically, physically and even emotionally. I am often surprised how much she knows for a 4 year old. My wife and I could not be happier with the care and education our son is receiving at Galileo. All of his teachers, from Room 1 now through Room 3, as well as the school staff take a personal interest in his development. They know that my child is unique, and they make the effort to get to know him. It was not easy in the beginning to leave our kid with someone else. I now know, though, that when I ask any of his teachers about the day they will tell me how he did (both the good and the occasional bad). When he has received minor scrapes on the playground, we hear about the details in an email. There have were even a few times when we had a difficult drop-off, that the teachers later sent pictures and a report later in the day showing how he was doing. We are very comfortable that he is safe and well taken care of. We are also very impressed with how they are able to work in rigorous academics, while somehow making it fun. At age 5 he seems ahead of the game and well prepared for Kindergarten and beyond. He is reading now, steadily getting better with writing, and is learning some math skills. He is also learning social skills. When he first arrived he was quite shy, but he now looks forward to meeting with his classmates and teachers. Galileo makes it easy for working parents. We can drop him off before 8am if needed and we can pick him up as late as 6pm. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are all included, which is super convenient. Galileo Preschool is awesome, fantastic, wonderful! I am shocked at reading the less favorable reviews. My oldest child who is now in 1st grade had a positive experience in Room 2 and Room 3. My youngest started in Room 1 and is currently in Room 2. My boys are like day and night when it comes to personalities and yet both have thrived at Galileo and continue to do so. #1 is very sensitive, a perfectionist and had a lot of separation anxiety in general. From Ms. Cathe at the front to Ms. Burns in the office and all the teachers in between, they worked with my child and offered lots of compassion, love and care yet gave him the skills to cope and work on being independent. #1 experienced so much personal growth and graduated from Galileo with the skills to be successful in Kindergarten. By the time he left Room 3 he was able to read, problem solve, work in groups, work independently, clean up, eat lunch with no help, adopt a go with the flow attitude and learn to say goodbye without having a complete meltdown. In public school you don't get daily reports or anyone who monitors how much your child ate. The teachers don't have time to console your child 1 on 1. It was important for #1 to develop these skills before heading into Kindergarten and I feel so fortunate that Galileo was able to help with the preparation. #2 is a little more strong willed and stubborn and again we have experienced lots of patience and open communication on how to best work together so my child can succeed. Some things I have noticed at home are lots of please and thank yous, cleaning up when being asked and being generous on sharing and taking turns. (A work in progress and not perfect by any means but constantly improving). #2 happily bounces out of the house every morning and cannot wait to see his friends and teachers. He talks about them non-stop and even insists we invite the teachers to his birthday party this year. Of course, we too have the odd clingy moment or tears during the morning drop off but the teachers are always ready to distract, hug or console as I'm leaving. I love the open communication. If the morning drop off is particularly rough, I'll get a follow up email or a photo of my child recovered and happy. I like the celebrations of all the cultures, having visitors like librarians, firefighters and nurses, talking about science, having pajama day or mismatch sock day and doing all kinds of creative art projects. It's such a varied curriculum with a healthy blend of silly and serious and my little sponge enjoys absorbing all the information made available to him. On the drive home I always ask my kids questions like, "how was your day?", "what did you do?", "who did you play with?". Like #1, #2 talks non-stop and can't get the information out fast enough. He really loves school! Tuition is a steal. We shopped around a lot before choosing Galileo. The academics offered are impressive yet the school is not pushy or expensive like a Challenger type school. It's the exact kind of balanced environment I want for my kids. From the minute we walked into Galileo, saw the facility, met the staff and saw the kids, there was an instant 'go with your gut' feeling about this place. It just felt right. I am so glad we made the decision to send our kids here. I highly recommend this place to all of my friends and family! As a quick side note, I would take the negative reviews with a grain of salt.
