There's a huge selection of restaurants to check out. We checked out different menus and actually sat in one spot and left when we realized it was vegetarian. If you venture down Catedral street from the Plaza de Armas, you will think you have entered a…read moredifferent country. No longer lined with stores just focused on Peruvians, this street has transformed into a melting pot of many different ethnicities. At the end of the first block, you will find an entrance to a bustling gallery lined with people standing around either talking with one another or on their cell phones. As you walk in, you will notice the many different restaurants, stores and call centers (the bottom floor of the "caracol" is made up of "cafe con piernas" and small strip clubs). I started coming here because there is a Peruvian minimarket that used to sell great quinoa for an even better price (however, due to the Quinoa crisis prices have risen so high that they no longer can carry it) but now, we come for the occasional meal at one of the many Peruvian or Colombian restaurants (all have amazing prices and good food). You can even find a "menu del dia" for 1.700 it includes juice, soup and a main dish. Unfortunately, I tried to take a picture to help guide you guys to the best stores and restaurants in the gallery but the guard told me I wasn't allowed to since many of the workers and clients are immigrants.
