    Farlow & Associates

I'm only going to rate based on School Law. Even after Farlow lost my case; I'm still wondering…read morehow. There is over 30 years of case and statutory law in my favor but Farlow & Associates seemed to have painted themselves into a corner. They effectively closed all avenues of ligation in my case allowing the Ohio courts to rule against me because of the narrowness of the drafted complaint. I was happy with this firm early on and her arguments where very convincing, so we went forward with this firm based on their recommendations (I did talk to several attorney's and all agreed this was a good case), but Farlow & Associates actually convinced me that our federal claim was unnecessary and to just rely on the Ohio statues. The Ohio courts quoted in my ruling 2 areas that where not plead and therefore the courts would not rule in my favor due to the narrowness of the complaint. If either would have been plead the case would have been won. I would not recommend this firm. They seemed very convincing in their arguments and sure about the outcome; however, actions and outcomes show they are not the right firm for this type of fight.

I had hired Farlow & Associates to handle my case back in 2014. As soon as I signed Retainer…read moreAgreement 3500$, the problems had begun. I read some negative reviews prior to hiring her, but I was not quite sure as to make of those, until I experienced same issues. I understand that mostly the firm handles divorce cases, and unfortunately, even if outcomes of the case are poor, people are probably too embarrassed to write the reviews. As of today, 13,000$ and some change later, it became very clear that Beverly Farlow and her firm made no difference in the outcome of my case. Moreover, it was troubling to see that if there was anything positive, she would take a credit for it. If she or her firm did not do that good in your case, it was client's problem, and surely client's fault. Primarily, what you need to understand is that in my case, and it looks like in cases of others, I received no special help, great advice or case-breaking ideas. Moreover, to fast-forward two years, they actually complicated my case further, although fortunately for me, it was resolved, after I fired them, and handled it by myself. To give you some specifics, so that you know what to expect, here what you would be up against after you sign the retainer : 1) They bill you roughly at the rate of 350$ an hour, her rate; 300$ or so, younger attorney's rate, 150$ for secretary and paralegal help, etc. Meaning - whether they choose to email you some basic info with six lines of text, or ten line meaningless reminder or call you again with information that has no great value, you get billed on average 100-400$ per that instance, depending on who does the job. 2) If you have any questions or objections regarding their billing practices, they hesitate to answer those, but bill you for taking time answering questions. You cannot check it, but when somebody bills you for 30 minutes, when writing 10 line email...you start wondering. 3) If you raise any questions regarding ethical aspects of them handling your case , Beverly Farlow would ask her secretary to answer or would ignore questions altogether, but later you would see a line in the bill "attention to the client's emails", which would charge you 400-600$ for reading your emails, but not necessarily responding to them. 4) At some point if you request a copy of your case file to consult another attorney, between her helpers Kristy, Joni, Brianna and others etc., they would spent lots of time emailing and doing "leg work" but would not provide you with the copy. In my instance, after I fired them, they finally mailed my case file, 6 weeks after initial request. 5) Case file, copies, fax, etc are a big issue. They love sending anything by FedExpress but not via UPS or USPS. They quote some confidentiality, but USPS or UPS certified mail is as efficient as the aforementioned, only 4-6 times less costly. It matters, because as they mail anything to you, the mailing expense, is yours whether it is 5 or 500$. 6) There was a point my case was supposed to go to trial. After two years of representation, all of a sudden Ms. Farlow, starts asking me questions, that I had already answered and payed for the time she took to review those answers. She sends me multiple emails and I see very clearly that she knows very little of my case. She is confused with names, witnesses, etc. I start questioning her professionalism, as I am sorry, but paying two times to review all the same details is despicable. Immediately, the firm mails me a new agreement, it is called "Replenishment Agreement", where they want more money in advance. Now, after 10,000$ she is vague on specifics of my case, and she wants more "to start work on my case". I look and I wonder, where did 10,000$ go? Basically, I want to caution you - do not make a hasty decision. If you need an attorney, shop around. You can hire an attorney for 275$ an hour doing much better job than her office does, I know it now, but it is too late for my case. Do not get mixed up in your emotions, fears and concerns, - do your background work. Also, do not discard the reviews. If you start noticing patterns, in client's reviews - different years, different cases, different people - maybe there is a merit to it.
