I've been seeing Dr. Galdi for more than ten years, since before he joined The Neurology Center and had his own private practice. He has gone above and beyond for me since the very beginning, including doing everything in his power to get me Botox treatments when he thought they would help. (Long before this was commonly done for migraine patients). This included getting me into a clinical trial at NIH where i was a guinea pig as one of their doctors demonstrated the Botox protocol on me for a team of observers (including him). I got a bit woozy with everyone watching but a free treatment that usually costs 3k and up is pretty grand. After that, before most insurance policies covered Botox he found ways to obtain extra samples for me so that I only needed to pay for the procedure itself. It was not only amazing for my pain, but a testament to what this man will do for his patients. Making the extra effort to try to help me when insurance was a barrier but he knew something would help. He's done this for medications as well, writing letters to see that I get the preventatives and abortives that work best for me. (I have BCBS by the way, so it isn't as if we were waging wars against an obscure policy, just the typical red tape)
His bedside manner can seem gruff, but that is merely interpersonal, it is not a reflection of the physician himself or the lengths he will go to see that you get the care you need. He is matter of fact but also listens, including listening to suggestions if a patient has read about something that they'd like to try, or doesn't want to try something he suggests. You may have more phone calls than face to face appointments, but consider that less money spent when your care is feedback based and not requiring a physical exam.
The downside currently is the management of the office itself. Hold times for phone calls even for prescription refills can be unnecessarily long, and messages can get lost in translation when left at the front desk. Be patient, and if you need a prescription refilled begin the process a few days before you need it in hand when possible. read more
