The big offices just gave me the "next available" appointment, which was several months away. Dr Katz's office is small, so Dr Katz himself looked at my referral and saw me quickly. My recommendation to new patients: hold your questions. Let Dr Katz ask all of his questions. Answer them clearly, but briefly. He has a method to figure out your vision problem, but follow his lead. I still had questions at the end of my appointment and Dr Katz patiently answered all of them. Tip #2: when you go to the exam room, sit in the "patient" chair if you're the patient. Good luck if you're seeing neuro-opthamology, but you're in good hands with Dr Katz.

I was scheduled to have a telehealth appointment this morning. During my commute to work, I received a call from a girl named Sharma asking for my copayment balance to be paid before my appointment. Considering the various circumstances in my life, I apologize that I was not aware. However, I will make the payment through the portal. When I asked her if I could still be seen, she responded that payment must be made before the appointment. In my opinion, this did not answer my question. When I asked to speak with the billing department, I was informed that they weren't yet open. As I work in the medical field and have patients to see, I received calls but couldn't take them. Immediately prior to my appointment, I receive a call from the same person, Sharma, informing me that Dr Cohen had canceled my appointment if no payment had been received. When I asked to speak with Dr Cohen, the girl Sharma responded that he will not speak with me. It was at this point that I stated my position that I would not engage in back and forth discussion with Sharma. She replied, "Oki Doki.". To me, that was an unprofessional response. Sharma replies that I have been aggressive? If there is a recording of the call, I would suggest you listen to it. I should point out that every time I have been to the physicians' office, I have asked if i can pay my copay and they have always said we will bill you. I know how bad I am at remembering to send my bills. With all of my health issues, I would never have expected such treatment to be given to me in the event that I failed to pay my copayment. Additionally, I received a call from the billing department relaying the same message, but of course coworkers cover each other's bases. As much as it makes me sad, I will be leaving this practice.

Unfortunately, his office staff isn't the most professional but they do always gave him my messages and called in my rx refills. Dr. Galdi himself was a little strange and didn't really want me to do any talking, "just the facts ma'am." My migraines improved somewhat, but I have added acupuncture twice weekly. Dr. Galdi's style of patient management is actually 'telephone-management": you don't come in again, you just call, leave a message and then he calls you back between 12 and 1pm. The problem is he tells you to call back in X number of days and then he just changes meds again. I feel like I'm talking to a robot for the 60 secs he's on the phone. Sorry, but I need a flesh-n-blood person and have since switched practices.

Now my young daughter goes to Kerry for a medical issue. She is wonderful with her - she shares things with Kerry issues that she won't share with me. They have fun together and she trusts her.
