He was easy to contact via email, quoted a reasonable price, and we were able to set an appointment the next day. He arrived on time and was very professional throughout. He explained how his test was even more thorough than the abatement's company's test, as his actually would specifically ID asbestos fibers (vs a general fiber test the other company did). You can tell he knows what he is talking about. The test took two hours and I was able to work while Kevin filled out paperwork in his car. He contacted me the next day with the test results, and also sent me a certificate from the lab and his summary showing the air was clean. Note that Kevin only does the air testing (not the removal) and I used him as a second opinion to ensure the air was clean as asbestos is nothing to mess with! I would definitely recommend his company to anyone wanting to test their environment post abatement.

Mastertech Environmental - Mold Removal Prep

    Mastertech Environmental

Five enthusiastic stars!…read more A water leak from above my home office caused some damage to the ceiling and wall. The cause was remediated but the dampness in the room was not improving. We called MasterTech Environmental for an air quality test and moisture assessment. Tom Duff was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The air quality test showed no airborne mold, but the dampness in the ceiling was of concern. His team came out to remove parts of the drywall to assess for mold. Trace amounts of black mold were uncovered along with quite a bit of white mold. The team quickly removed all affected drywall and insulation. When I tell you these guys are thorough and work clean, I mean it. Tony, etc were meticulous with closing off the affected areas for safety and ensuring no mess was left behind. There wasn't an ounce of dust anywhere. It was as if they were never here! MasterTech Environmental does not replace the dry wall, but they recommended an incredibly reliable contractor who did. He also worked exceptionally clean and had my office back to normal in 2 days. Diane in the office is a sweetheart and her communication was second to none. She kept me updated on everything and ensured I received detailed reports complete with photos for insurance claims. Pricing was upfront and fair and they provide a 5 year guarantee on their work. I cannot recommend this wonderful business enough. They will take excellent care of you and your home!

While I wanted to get it fixed the prices I was given by other supposedly reputable companies in the area were astronomical. I delayed until I was given a realistic estimate from Mastertech. That is not to say it was cheap but reasonable by comparison. I was especially impressed when getting my estimate that I was being listened to and not talked at. The guys who came to my house were friendly and professional. They sent up a containment area so the rest of the house was safe from the work area. It only took a few days to clean out and clean up 40+ years of stuff in the basement. Now I have a perfectly clean and empty basement. Oh ,and I have a certificate stating my house was clean. Now for a side note to people like me who honestly don't know what you got till it's gone.....I will say that you must (let me emphasize this) must know what you want to keep before they start clearing out your stuff. They will save what you say you want to keep and anything they deem valuable like silverware or family photos If they can. They we're thorough and I was naive and didn't think they would toss out my closed plastic bins of media or a sculpture I made. This is not their fault. What one seems valuable is subjective and I should have been more diligent in checking on what I wanted to keep. Now, let's all have a moment of silence for the gargoyle I made in high school. They did an excellent job making my basement and crawl space mold free.

These "engineers" essentially have a license to steal. It's really a glorious business model. I was selling a newly remodeled home and was told by my realtor that any buried tank must be removed. This remediation contractor lures u in with the $1000 estimate to remove the submerged oil tank and then tell you oil was found and the billing becomes an avalanche of contrivances. In my case I was informed that my oil tank which was abandoned and foam-filled 15 years earlier had at some point leaked whatever drops of residual oil film had been left in the tank with the foam. Lab report indicated same. Anco backhoe removed a ridiculous 20' x '20' pit of soil and the itemized billing began for everything from backhoe and baking (of the soil - which they then sell for a profit!) to my having to pay the employees salaries and the cost of the truck driver lacing his boots and starting the truck in the morning. I stood there and watched them take 3 hours to complete the job yet they billed me for a full day including anco's cost to rent equipment they didn't even own! Oh! And I was asked to complete a questionnaire to be submitted to the state. Anco billed me for submitting it ! Also Itemized in the bill was a line item for the use of their license to operate in the state (Whaaat??!!) My complaints about these line items went completely ignored. Of course they did. After all, the resolution of this matter was completely in their control and if I wanted my NFA letter I had better just pay. $16k all-in for about a tablespoon of oil leakage. I threw a dart at the yellow pages when searching for a soil remediation contractor. Do yourself a favor and get an initial contract with a fully comprehensive itemization of all possible charges and leave nothing to subjectivity in the billing.
