I tried to get a tutoring job with this company and interviewed with them. At first everything…read moreseemed cool until I read more about what they expected from the tutors. You have to do a million things for a small amount of money. For example, you have to put a company magnet on your car when you go to a student's home...What is the point of this??? The training is unpaid and you're still not guaranteed any work. What do I need training for?...The student needs help and I know the subject matter!

I worked for this company from 2010-2012. I agree with Tank J. the training was a bunch of malarkey…read morethere was no educational value to be internalized from it. The company basically used outdated documents from a well established tutoring company and if it wasn't for the talent of the teachers the owner hired her company would not have been a benefit to any student she serviced. She takes complaints from students as if they tell the truth and makes decisions based on what the child says without any input from the teacher being accused. She gets funding from the state to tutor students in the surrounding counties and the bulk of the funding goes into her pocket. She will pay the teacher a quarter of what the state pays her per child. Her pedagogy was none existent she was free wheeling it at the risk of the students she serviced. For instance, I had to help a child with their spelling homework. The child was required to write the words five times each. Well, Twentieth Century Best Practices will confirm there is no educational benefit to a child writing a word numerous times. It doesn't facilitate internalization of spelling; the child merely is writing letters down on paper repeatedly with no educational benefit. It was insane to try and explain this to the owner because she basically felt what she was doing was correct and she knew better. I continued working for her because I love empowering students to be the best they can be. The owner's ultimate goal was to line her pockets with funding from the state and if what she did benefited a client then that was a hit or miss deal.

I have a high functioning autistic son with speech and language deficiency. Reading comprehension…read moreissues make math even more difficult for him than it should be. Desperate to strengthen his math grades, I enrolled him at the center in hopes that he would gain the skills and confidence needed to excel and pass the 7th grade math. Today, after the yawards ceremony, his math teacher came to me with the highest praise for him saying that he was the only one in his class who exceeded a screening test that measures progress over the year. This has placed him at grade level in math. No other student scored on level but him!!! She was so overtaken by this, she asked me for a referral for her daughter who will be entering the 9th grade next fall. I was glad to do so and I can't wait to tell Daniel at the learning center of my son's progress in math. Now, on to reading!!!! I forgot to put my name... Taylor of Snellville, GA

So thankful that the Tutoring Center is part of our community! My child was behind in school…read more Homework and studying had become a constant fight and stress in our household. After a free assessment by the Tutoring Center, they gave me a systematic plan for how they were going to catch up my child to grade level and an estimated timeframe. What is amazing--my child was caught up in the exact timeframe that they predicted! My child became a better student, was more confident, more focused, and homework was no longer a stressful endeavor. The best part--my child LOVED going to the Tutoring Center! Every night, students are greeted by the friendly owner and staff as they enter the facility. The environment is warm and welcoming. The Tutoring Center staff are thoughtful and caring for all of their students. Staff can often be found giving students pep talks before and after tutoring sessions. Students are congratulated regularly for their progress during tutoring and their progress in school. Tutoring Center staff are flexible and understanding that students have busy schedules. Tutoring Center has changed our academic outlook! Given the tremendous progress we have made already, we decided to continue with the Tutoring Center to further our academic enrichment. Would recommend the Tutoring Center of Stone Mountain to anyone and everyone.

Awesome school....,my child has attended from 6-to hopefully 8..my only hiccup is not the school,…read morebut the dekalb county's new attendance policy which is ...when a child is "absent, excused, with a drs' not etc.. checked out early, due to illness..etc.., checked in late etc.., they are considered - absent. your child may have dr's appt's w/ notes, checked out of 1-or more classes, for an appointment...but marked absent (mind you, they came to school and was checked out by a parent, guardian, or emergency contact). make it make sense!!! my child has never had any attendance issue, and i am offended about this. i've attended a meeting where other parents felt the same. Dekalb county...what is the problem here??? Parents are getting notifications that are appalling (to myself, husband, and scholar). Notes that are sent in are not getting to the proper channels, and I do have email receipts to justify. I am not here to bash and please, excuse the all caps, my business requires it. it never comes off..I am not yelling. However, I am so dispappointed in this years adminisration. Should this be directed to Mountain Industrial??? Please reply with where it should go. The attendance person was in the meeting but had little to add. I will gladly send an email to the proper chanels. I may not word things correctly, but I am sure you get what I am saying. When i was in attendance in one of the recent meetings, the majority had the same feelings.

I'll provide a little background on me. I never learned to drive in my teens. Unfortunately,…read moregrowing up, my parents were hypervigilant/overprotective and steered me away from really learning at the "assumed" age. So, I didn't get my permit until I turned 24. However, I lived in Connecticut and then Brooklyn for awhile before moving back to GA almost 10 years later. Living in cities with easily accessible public transportation (Metro North/NYC Subway) pushed learning to the backburner. So, basically, I'm an older student genuinely learning for the first time. I purchased the 10 hour package. And, I admit I'm an overly cautious driver and make rookie mistakes. Even so, I'm determined to learn to become competent and realize that means taking directions and learning from my errors. So, what do I think about Just Drive Right? Scheduling was easy. My instructor was extremely professional and never was late to a scheduled session. My instructor was experienced, knew the rules of the road to a "T" and would demonstrate any errors I made on a tablet so I can better envision how to improve. I'm not hypersensitive to strong direction. Because you WILL be corrected STRONGLY. Understandably, any mistake, even a small one, could potentially cost you your life (and the life of others). There would be days that my instructor would go over time to assist (which definitely wasn't expected). You are in very good hands and can trust that you (or your child) is sitting with an experienced driver. The costs of a package are more than reasonable. ****UPDATED REVIEW****: Just finished my last lesson with Jeanelle and JDR. Turns out it was simply a misunderstanding. If you go to JDR. Ask for Jeanelle 5 stars all the way!!
