I placed an order last week (12/9) and reached out asking about the status of my order on (12/13) after not seeing any changes to my shipments status online. Not only did they reply within an hour, they also sent me 2 other follow up emails the same day to make sure I was getting the correct information on my shipment. Without a doubt, 10/10 on communication. The item I purchased was also in immaculate condition, even the box was flawless after shipping across the country. The price for my item was also below what competitors were charging for the specific piece. This is proof to me they care about their business and customers. These people are incredible. I wanted to come here and probably buy some stuff. I really did. But this place apparently likes to open when they feel like it. I live about 90 minutes away from this place and on two different occasions, I was to be in the area as it was. Twice I made it a point to come here during advertised business hours and TWICE this place was closed during those same advertised business hours. Thankfully I was already in the area doing other things anyway, but what terrible business practices and what a waste of time to try to come here. Unsure of the reasons they were closed during their business hours either time - whether it was because the owner didn't want to work, couldn't get out of bed, decided to be lazy, has absolutely zero business acumen, or whatnot. Who knows. On their website, social media, Google, and on their own answering machine when I've called, they claim the same hours/days - yet, they fail to be open during those select times. I'm fair and if something were to have come up - twice - where they couldn't open or didn't want to for whatever reason, I'm understanding. But to not even update their own answering machine or anywhere else is unacceptable. Perhaps I'm unlucky and both times I was there, they decided they didn't want to open on those days and during their advertised business hours - or perhaps they're just poor at running a business. I've never had this issue with any other business before (whether they're similar or not), so the fault has to lie with the owner. It's a shame too, because from what I've seen it looks like a nice place. The owner seems like a nice guy. It was a place I was looking forward to trying out. But they aren't remotely the only place around that sells the same type of stuff and I'm very lucky in my travels/searches to find other similar stores that know how to run a business. And those places (or any other like it that I find) will continue to get my business, whereas this place will not. Ever. I know I'm in the minority as they seem to have a lot of fans - good for those people. I don't wish ill will despite their poor business practices. I really hate having to write a negative review, but coming here twice in good faith only for the store to be closed with absolutely zero signage or indication as to why or that they would even be closed in the first place during advertised business hours is completely unacceptable for me. It would be unacceptable for just about any other type of business, but somehow this place has just lucked out. I can only suggest if you're local, you can try your luck. If you're coming from far away, then I'd make sure you have alternate or other plans because this place is completely unreliable to be open during the times they claim they are. Plus, my almost 5 year old wanted to check it out as well. Looking around, I found an old Leapster Explorer with a bunch of games (pre-owned). I inquired on the price and apparently the person selling it was not around. I waited a good 10 minutes before the mid-aged woman came around to give us a price quote. Here's the kicker: while I was still browsing my fiancé approached them as the girls were telling each other that the Leapster may not even work. Any ol' who, the woman quoted me $10. I didn't hesitate as I thought, my daughter turns 5 in a few weeks and she would love the entertainment nonetheless. So I purchased it and she DID end the transaction with "if it doesn't work, at least you have all of those games". Fast forward to RIGHT NOW - 9pm and my kids are both asleep and I decide to change the batteries on the Leapster Explorer. It works beautifully. No complaints. Then I proceed to get in bed so that I can play some of the games. Now, there are at least 15 games in total. Only 3 fit the Leapster Explorer. The other games are for another Leapster. I feel mistreated and abused. She could have at least let me know this. No wonder my daughter kept asking me to help her with the games. We were in the car when she was sort of playing with it and since the baby was crying, I wasn't fully attentive of this. The problem is not the $10. It's still a great deal. The problem is the lack of communication overall. So glad that I can do my normal thing of YELPING! I have no shame stating the truth and revealing who I am. I just don't like trickery. I don't like to be treated like a dummy. That's how I feel. Luckily I'm a huge online couponer and deal finder. I already found the proper Leapster for $5 and will be waiting for it to arrive so that my daughter can have access to the other games.

We have been using this store as our go to when we need presents for a birthday or other similar…read moreoccasion. As the parent of an elementary school student, we typically go there quite often. The manager, Nancy, is very sweet and a whiz at wrapping anything in the store. We are members of the rewards program and have made use of many $10 rewards certificates. This business has two locations, Westport and Stamford. We like to support local businesses and have chosen to shop them despite some lower prices at cheaper chains like Target, Walmart, or Amazon. We achieved a $10 rewards certificate just prior to the local school closures and statewide lock down. Clearly, during the lock down and the pandemic as a whole, we have done our best to avoid crowds and low ventilated areas. There have also not been ANY birthday parties since March. Today, we took the opportunity to venture into the store to get a present for a close friend (again, no party). After completing our shopping, with Nancy's help, I was astonished to learn that my now expired reward would NOT be honored. I tried to call the corporate office three times to speak with "Nick", but I was sent to voicemail each time. During the pandemic, I have been given extensions on airline miles, travel points, hotel reservations and various other rewards, coupons and now expired benefits. On their website, this company has a tab that claims to support local communities. If they truly want to support communities, the policy of not honoring rewards that expired during the pandemic must be scrapped. The day after we shopped, Nancy called me personally to say that she had spoken with corporate to fight for the customer rewards. Her persuasive efforts apparently worked and she reported that, the next time I come to the store, my expired pandemic rewards would be honored. She is great at her job and I hope she is treated as she deserves to be.
