Randy stepped-up, I told him this might be a challenge, and he said he wasn't afraid of a challenge. I spec'd the high-lift pump (fields were almost 30ft above us on a hill) and he agreed to install it in the new tanks. Imagine trying to fit a pair of shoes into a shoebox not quite big enough for the shoes, but in this case the box was basalt bedrock slot and the shoes were 2 tanks. There was no other logical place to put the tanks. The old tank was right in the middle of the driveway, making that portion of it useless. I wrote the check for the entire amount and drove over to his office and gave it to Marion that day.

A pair of workers arrived, worked on the plug for two hours, but couldn't unplug the drain. When they left, they said they would "check with the boss" and get back to us. They never came back, never called, but sent us a bill for $258.48 for the failed job. I called the Smart scheduler, and she said she'd check with the crew and get back to us. She never called. I called the scheduler again and asked if she expected the bill to be paid even though the workers failed to repair the drain. She said that even though they couldn't fix the plugged drain, they did spend two hours trying. We paid the bill, mainly to be able to wash our hands of any future "help" from Smart Plumbing and Heating.

One said they'd see what they could do, although they later called and told us it would be a week before they could even get to us, let alone fix the problem. The other didn't even return our call. In the meantime, we had also reached out to Superior Plumbing and Mechanical, a firm we were not familiar with. Not only was their phone customer service top notch, they said they would do their best to fit us in that day. To our great surprise and tremendous relief, two young men arrived in well equipped trucks within several hours. They were very young guys but the calibre of their work was the highest quality. They investigated the problem thoroughly and explained everything they found in great detail, carefully showing us the video of our sewer line. They took the time needed to resolve the problem and to explain how we could avoid a recurrence.
