Immediate panic set in after a sleepless night of our tire blowing out on our boat trailer, hitting a deer, on the way and now this. So I called Adam the next morning and he got here within minutes. Although we weren't sure about the situation and very hopeless he was very genuine and wanted to help in any way he could. After checking the lines with cameras, a hot few hours in the sun, excavating the septic tank, removing the lid, fishing for keys which seemed like a needle in a haystack, and an attempt to pump it, we had given up. Although this type of fishing is not what we were expecting on our four hour trip away from home, we were finally able to pull the keys out thanks to Adam. A few tears were shed and he genuinely was willing to take less payment then what he deserved. And to think he did this all on the morning of his sons birthday. He didn't know me/I wasn't a client, but when I called, he came out to my house, found us a hot water replacement tank, was very knowledgeable when we asked him about converting to tankless, and installed the new tank on two days notice. The most amazing part . . . he installed the new tank ON A SATURDAY! I've used him 3 times since then, and I could not recommend him more. He is wonderful, very good at his trade, and most importantly in this day and age, reliable. The last time I needed his services, he came on two hours notice to fix my toilet that was rocking so it would be stable and safe for my husband, who had just had a total-knee replacement. I get it. Interior house painting is, if done right, at best a meticulous process. Below are a few…read moreof my observations of John's Painting and Construction. The project was bid as a five day project. Reality was it could have been done in four days. At the onset I will say John and Zander are great guys who seem to be serious about succeeding in their business. That said, I hope this helps. Bidding: 5 I got multiple bids but the thing that impressed me most was their approach to the process. They walked in with pencil and pad but rather than take notes they first literally drew out the areas that needed repair. Then they took measurements and notes. I felt like they left that process knowing exactly what was needed for this project. Communication: 4 They did well describing each step of the process and for that part I would score them at 5. However, although they would contact me to tell me they were on their way and maybe what stops they had on their way, the gap of time from initial contact and arrival seemed unordinary. More on that below. Arrival times: 3.75 Arrival times were all over the place with the 4th day (paint day) being the most out of whack (11 AM arrival). The reasoning was they had to pick up paint and connect with another customer. My thinking was the paint should have already been in their hands by this point in the project and this is the primary reason for the lower grade. My point is they should want to get as early of a start as possible each day and especially "paint day" to mitigate the issues that caused them to have to come back for a fifth day. Prep work: 4 This obviously is the longest and messiest part of the project. Originally we were left with the impression that furniture would not be in the way (communication) so we assumed they would move it around as necessary. After the first day we emptied the areas completely to ensure our furniture did not get completely covered in dust. I wish we had emptied our book shelves too. The residual dust from moving supplies and drop cloths in and out each day contributed to lots of dust and some frustration. The texture spray on was also a point of frustration because some of the spray landed in areas where it should not have . It'll come off but will be extra and messy work for us. Repair work: 5 They did a great job repairing the tape work on the ceiling and walls which was the primary reason for the project. Definitely a 5 for this. Painting: 4.5 I suppose this could change in a few days post-project but as I see it now, the ceilings and walls look fantastic. Overall grade: 4.5 Oh, my living room ceiling peaked at 18 feet.
