After…read moregrowing up staying at Cedar Green Resort, I remembered with fondness all the good times we had hanging out at The Lake and wanted to share that with my wife and young kids. We have stayed at Kon Tiki Resort two of the last four years and have stayed in the same cabin both times. The cabins are small but cozy and well kept. In fact, our cabin was renovated in between our first and second stay. New floors and complete bathroom remodel. Cabin has a kitchen and table for four which is great for my wife and I and two young girls. It's a full kitchen with fridge, stove, sink, microwave and several cabinets stocked with all the dishes and utensils needed for a weeks vacation. Cabin also has three small bedrooms, not much bigger than the beds. Tight, but really, we are there to be out in The Lake and be out running around. Cabin also has a charcoal grill which we used several times. Our cabin had a shaded deck that wrapped around one corner of the cabin offering a great view of the lake. Resort has all the facilities you need for a week of fun in the water. Laundry, boat rental, sand swimming beach, two docks with slips, ice on site. We rented a fishing boat just to give our oldest a ride on the lake and not so much for fishing. Rental was moderately priced and well maintained. Since the resort is on "the quiet side" of The Lake, we had a nice leisurely ride. There is also a nice patio area with several tables and lots of lounge chairs, great for keeping an eye on the girls while they are swimming or relaxing and watching the evening fade away. Kon Tiki is located on EE along with a lot of other family resorts. EE is close to a full service grocery store and there is a gas station nearby, both located at the corner of highway 7 and 5. Kon Tiki is beautifully maintained and the owners are nice as can be, and available if needed.

Visit review first, then some speculation:…read more The girlfriend and I picked this place as it is NOT a pub down at the lake. We wanted something a little more upscale with some veggies (ok, SHE wanted the veg... I didn't care about that. :p)! So we opted for this place. 1. This place is gorgeous. A fantastic little lakefront area with some games and a venue that opens right to the water. Even the boat up to get dinner. Exactly the Vibe we were looking for. 2. The staff was super friendly. They informed us right away that the kitchen was behind, and it could be a long wait for our food. We decided that drinks by the lake would be a good way to kill the time, so we informed them we would wait it out. 3. The baseball team showed up. This is a venue space. They host events. A kids' baseball team showed up for a little bit of after game dinner (with drinks for the parents). What a fantastic idea! And, they had thought to phone ahead and place some generic orders. 4. The wait staff again warns us that the kitchen is way behind and they would be with us when they can, but there would be a long wait. We have already been here sipping on drinks for 45 minutes, so why not wait? 5. The owner is delivering the homemade pizzas to the baseball team, which had already had their appetisers. Some of the parents are ordering something other than pizza for their kids. 6. The waitress stops by and drops off an order of onion rings to munch on while we wait. This was over her own volition. The baseball moms start offering to share their pizzas with us. (Very nice people at the lake). 7. Our food arrives! Katie's Salmon, green beans, and mash are reportedly very good. My Rigatoni Bolognese had well- overcooked pasta and a sauce that tasted like a tangy BBQ sauce mixed with marinara. The sausage was next to non-existent, and the carrots (yes, carrots in the sauce) were plentiful. 8. Our appetiser of stuffed mushrooms arrives. This was ordered first 1hr and 50 minutes ago. These were good. And piping hot! 9. Waitress notices that I am only picking at my dinner. Without asking removed it and the mushrooms from the bill due to the excessive wait and me not liking the pasta. WELL Played! She was tipped well, and I want to ensure that the staff gets ALL the stars here! Now for the crux: I believe that this place is a venue first and an eatery second. They prioritised incoming groups over those seated at their tables. They also don't really have a good handle on what a dinner rush looks like, as this was early in the season. There is the potential for something great to happen with this location. And I feel like the learning curve is what happened with us. The menu is a little too expansive for what they are trying to provide. They do need to pick between being a pub or an upscale lakeside eatery. Kitchen staff need way more training. It is my hope that next time I go down to the lake, I can visit this place again. I want to give them a shot at getting those extra stars!

The pulled pork sandwich, fries and onion rings were great as well. The atmosphere was here is so laid back, fun, and super friendly. They have several games to play while you wait for food (didn't wait long) such as pickleball, putt putt golf, and corn hole. The staff was super friendly, fun, and outgoing. Would be very happy to come back many times.
