As the name goes G&T - this bar is one for the lovers of the classic Gin & Tonic !
Set in a small space with low lights and even lower seating - this gin & tonic bar comes from the same group that has Mak & Kouzina restaurants in the neighbourhood. The snagged bartender Talita Simões (ex-Side Restaurant bartender) to set up the menu which mainly is 90% gin based drinks and 10% others. It is being marketed as Brazil's first Gin bar and I have been told that they also have an internal partnership with Beefeater gin.
One of the main reasons that I visited this place was because of the price - its rare to see decently made gin-tonic (Beefeater fin) being served in the city at R$ 15, some variations of this same gin-tonic with extra herbs and even Red Bull are sold at R$ 20. You do have other options of gins also like Beefeater24, Tanqueray, Tanqueray 10, Bulldog, Bombay Sapphire, Gin Mare, Gin Saffron, Hendricks etc (to name a few), but these are pricier and can go all the way upto R$ 50
I tried the classic G&T at R$ 15 and a rosemary version at R$ 20 and was certainly not disappointed - you are getting very good bang for your buck. One of my drinks was made by Talita Simões and she knows how to make a basic drink seem good. I had read the review from Fabio S. and I stuck to the basics - didn't even think of getting another cocktail although one of my friends did order the Bramble and it was extra sweet and syrupy. They don't have table service - you have to go to the counter, pay (cash & debit cards only), get a coupon and then get your drink - this also means that there is no service fee. I did not see any food on the menu or anything being served but they do offer free mixed nuts to go along with your drink.
It's a cool place to get a few drinks - either before dinner or after, in the region. The price makes it worth the visit and decent G&T's do the rest. Will definitely return again. read more
