I love this place I get all of my physical games from here I have not gotten a actual console from there yet but I plan to in the future they have made up almost all of my PS3 collection at really affordable prices, and they all work efficiently and the best selection of games If you want to relive your childhood, or maybe show your kids/nephews/cousins, etc. etc. I would definitely recommend going here read more

Bring your patience. Nothing in the store is priced - you'll be waiting on the staff to search sold values on Ebay and add $5 as a 'convenience charge'. Buy on Ebay - its cheaper - and more convenient with home delivery. read more

Honestly, not a bad place to trade games in or for cash as long as they are retro or older games. Got blocked on facebook because I decided to not buy from them and try a trial of the game for free instead. At this point we were in lockdown and I had spent so much money on things I didn't want ... My bad, sorry for being an impulsive buyer but I rather not be that person who buys something and then returns it. Staff talk to much in store also and for an introvert like me it can be challenging to cut in the conversation. I'll stick with franchised retail stores. If you buy modern games you aren't going to save much here anyways. I do fully support small businesses, but not when they act unprofessionally. I hope the owner learns that people are allowed to change their minds. Happens all the time. read more

I have visited this business several times hoping the next experience will be more enjoyable then the last. It never is. If you have a question related to games or consoles some of the staff really know their stuff! However, You'll usually be met with sarcasm and rude comments for not knowing information. The staff are young and would rather talk and hang out while working then actually help customers lined up. The only times they seem to jump to help a customer is if they know them or they are a regular. Everything seems completely over-priced, from games and consoles to plushies and key chains, and the several times I have purchased items I've had to return them since they don't work. Most of these items are USED and can be found for cheaper online or at E.B. Games. The business buys old games as well, but the times I've tried to sell to them they've offered $5 store credit for all the games I brought that they were selling on the shelf for $15 - $30 each. I want to like this business, I really do. It's one of a kind and very unique to the area, offering all sorts of nerdy things for everyone of all ages. But the bottom line is the staff is rude and everything is overpriced. I do not recommend going here. read more

G.A.M.E.S. (Previously Microplay) is really the only non-chain gaming store within Oshawa worth going to. Owned by geeky-gamer Jesse, the store features a used section for not only the newest console games, but also a rather huge variety of games from your childhood (If your childhood was in the 80's and you're awesome). He also has a small selection of older consoles you can purchase as well, however he will leave you drooling when it comes to his private, displayed collection of old consoles and arcade systems. There's a lot of clutter, especially in the staff area of the shop which is sort of in the middle of everything. The staff is friendly enough, though generally very, very young and seem to hang out in the store talking to each other whether they are working or not. The selection of new games is lacking - though I'm sure if you asked them to order in a new game for you, they would do it. They also buy used games for any system, but don't count on making big bucks as they have no qualms about literally giving you one penny for an old (probably sports related) game. If you're sick of EB Games/Gamestop then try GAMES and see if it's the place for you. Though if you're older than 20, you'll be in the minority. read more

I went to G.A.M.E.S to take my little brother to get him some Gamecube games for his birthday. There was not much of a variety of games there and there were a bunch of games out in the open out of their boxes that someone could easily steal; which made me worried. The products did not seem to be taken very good care of, if you want a used copy of a game without caring about the condition this is place for you. The things that bothered me the most though was anytime you would have a conversation about a certain game or discuss something the staff would jump into the conversation in a rude matter. Just found it very rude my brother and I had to not talk at all just to avoid them eavesdropping. The phone was ringing but they were not answering it, they would stand beside it and not answer it. They even made jokes as to why they were not answering the phone. While we were browsing a man with a disability came into the shop, he seemed a bit confused on how much money he had in his account and the man working there refused to serve him saying "I have customers who will pay I do not have time for you". The customer service was beyond repulsive. I wanted to leave as soon as possible after hearing the worker treat the man with the disability that way, so I went to buy my brother his game and leave. I was waiting at the cash and the man who was rude to the man with the disability was helping a customer instead of saying something politely to the customer example being "just one moment sir I am going to help checkout this lady", he said "I have paying customers to attend to I do not have time for you". I have never in my life seen such disgusting acts of customer service. I will not be going here ever again. read more

I've been to this store several times, each time pretty much getting the same experience, one time I was going in to trade a snes, after being told they couldn't be traded in because of "discolouration" and "a plastic bit missing off the hook up area" I thought okay but I thought, I might as well pick something up (it's a 30 minute drive to get there) so I asked one of the people working there "hey can I get one a snes game genie" the person working said "of course" he goes to unlock the shelf and looks over and starts talking to a different person right before he unlocked the case, then when he finally gives me the game and at this point I was in there for 30 minutes. I bought the game and left. To put the cherry on top the game genie didn't even work. They sold me a broken game genie. The only reason it's a two star not a one is because they have a very wide selection of video games, from the nes through to the ps4 and xb1 and they really know what their talking about. But in the end if you want to go to a retro game store that's not a far drive from there, go to the one in the courtice flea market, in less you want to wasted time. read more

Great staff that are very helpful and always explain things. They treat young kids with respect. They are knowledgeable and have an amazing inventory of every type of game, every type of game system and our much better than EB games or their competitors. Give the little guy a shot, these guys work hard to take care of their customers and are always willing to make deals and help you out. read more

Great people, very knowledgeable and always willing to chat, share stories and reminisce about older games. Very fair trade-in prices and honest about how and why they are offering certain amounts. I've been visiting this shop since they opened and have never had a problem they wouldn't address. I used to go here a lot until they deliberately stolen my super scope attachment for SNES. I brought in my boxed Super Scope, complete with attachments the two sniper scope attachment that is supposedly harder to find, according to Jesse, for he had on display his single scope sniper attachment. After the staff brought my box and its contents to the back testing area, Jesse and I were working with numbers and a final price for my Super Scope. I wasn't happy with the price I was getting for this mint condition SNES item, so i decided to take back my Super Scope, after leaving the store I later realized my scope attachment was a single scope not the double I had come in with.. So just be extra careful when bringing in your treasures they will get stolen. read more

Sold me a used console that wouldnt play any games & the open tray button didnt work either. On top of that i was waiting for them to bring me a game i had picked from there wall and finally gave up after 20 minutes of them searching & me standing at the register with another customer with a used product that didnt work. Very poor experience unknowledgeable staff & poor quality control on there used goods. Would not recommend or return to this store. Very disapointing read more
