An amazing castle loved and 'renovated' by many families over its 800 years of history from no so humble beginnings in the 1300 as a hunting lodge for the royal family to today as an Edwardian masterpiece.
Tours are guided which limits you to the wandering you can do but is fantastic as you get a good understanding of the five families that at one time or another owned and resided in this amazing house and of course each added their own flair though the building of a tower. Come on a sunny day if you can, the gardens are breathtaking and perfect for a picnic lunch... Unfortunately the day I came it was raining heavily so I only got to enjoy the, from the dry warmth of my car. read more
