As you know I'm big into tanning, and that means that this place is somewhere that I've been a couple of times - and the last time I came in to inquire about stuff and found that it's actually really expensive so that was kind of annoying - but yeah. They were extremely friendly with all of our enquiries and if I did live in Manhattan or if I'm in Manhattan soon and need something tan-wise, or Barbie does, we will very strongly consider this place because of how nice they were. They don't give out towels anymore here. The beds are falling apart. If you use the high powered bed it forces you to listen to hideous music that is fuzzy. The salon seems very unkept for midtown Manhattan. I remember tanning salons encouraging the employees to use their product but from what I can tell, the employees aren't the epitome of tan. The bathroom sink could use some work as well. Manhattan is the fashion hub of the world yet this place seems like a silent film star of yesteryear. I can barely give this place one star.... rarely do I take the time to write a review unless it's a postive one, but this spray tan experience was so terrible that I felt I should warn others about this waste or $35. I spray tan every week in Santa Monica California so I know how to exfoliate everything and then put the barrier cream on my hands feet and nails. I followed all the instructions and got a level 1 with a bronzer. The results were literally embarrassing. I had to wash everything off my face within 4 hours because it was so blotchy, then while walking down the street I noticed my arms covered in marks. Even worse- I had just had a French manicure and despite covering every nail with thick cream they all turned brown- my gel manicure was ruined. Totally fine tanning joint. Not too hard to find, come in and take the elevator to the 2nd floor. You'll enter right into the facility, so easy enough already. Prices are a bit confusing, due to points system & various sales. Recent summer sale was 15 Tanning Points $99, 40 Tanning Points $199 or 60 Tanning Points $249 and also for the real rays adverse, 4 Custom Airbrush Tans at a pretty cheap $129. My adventures here started in winter due to Vitamin D deficiency. I really don't want to get skin cancer, but also supplements weren't helping, so once every few weeks, here I'd be. I've been 4 times now and it's a perfectly acceptable place. The pluses are the staff are nice. Everyone has been pleasant here to me. The bed ai use is the upper end Ergoline, in pretty well used condition. The minuses, and why this tanning joint gets 3 stars is that it's just run down. The walls need repainting and show signs of dirt and wear. The floorbaords are all scuffed. The actual bed was ok but a few buttons like for the stereo didn't work (oh well, didn't affect the tan, I guess). Didn't try the spray tan so no comment there. Literally the worst customer service. I went in for a spray tan the night before flying out to a Birthday vacation. The girl advised me to use a level 2 which for a very pale person was extremely dark. When the machine was spraying it felt a little like it wasn't working on one side of my body but it was almost 10pm and I hadn't done it in a while so I thought maybe I forgot how it works. Nope, got up to catch my morning flight and one half of my body was super dark and the other barely had colour. Super embarrassing. When i returned I was told to go in to the location with my credit card for a refund. When I arrived I was informed no refund would be issued and accused of not standing in the booth correctly. The manager Dayna was rude and acted as though I was lying about the whole thing. She did offer another tan but it's winter and NY. I have no use for it. I needed it for the trip my girl friends planned for my Birthday. read more

I've been going here for years and have never had a problem! It is expensive- but it's the best tanning in NYC and right in Times Square, what do you expect. (Tip: points never expire, so just splurge on a big package when it goes on sale and you'll have it for a long time!) They take appointments so you can schedule a session or just walk in. Best tanning salon in NYC hands down!!! I have been coming here for years now and have always been extremely happy with my results. I love the salt lamps, wood floors, and the overall location and ambiance. I have been spray tanned here several times and I am a regular tanning client for their beds too. The customer service is always impeccable, and I feel like the staff and managers are not only super knowledgable but also take their time to make sure that people get the best advice and guidance for their skin, which lotions should be used, etc... I recently started using their LightStim LED bed as well, and I am sooo impressed with the improvement of my skin. Not only is this salon really central to everything, but I also love the camaraderie here. After a few years of being a client I have met other regulars and honestly for people to use the same tanning salon for years and years is a testimony to the fact that they aren't a revolving door. They seem to really care about your happiness here and that to me is good business. I actually cannot believe I haven't written a rave review until now because they are one of those businesses that you naturally share and talk up to other people. (*Side note: before I went in for the first time, I checked reviews like any smart person would, it seemed (and still seems) the only bad reviews on here really are in regards to spray tanning... Sorry but these people must be idiots to put it bluntly, they clearly just don't know how to pay attention to direction? I like it here! I'll only get a spray tan about once a year before a wedding but when I do, I come here. The Norvel machine gives me a nice subtle, even tan and they get me in and out quickly. My only complaint is that it's pretty hot in the salon and you're not supposed to sweat! But I can understand how it would be hard to cool a small space full of machines. Honestly, the reason I'm writing this review is because I've seen the abuse this place takes both in Yelp reviews and over the phone for being busy. You know, it's one of few tanning salons right next to the busiest train station in North America--there are certain times of day when it's going to be busy! Do yourself a favor and don't call during rush hour! Plus the girls at the desk are really nice and handle it the best they can. Everyone needs to calm down, tanning is a non-essential service and for the convenience of location I think Future Tan is worth the few drawbacks. read more

what fresh hell is this? i have literally never had a worse tanning experience. i should have known right when i entered to just turn around, because it felt like a sauna. one of the girls working there was nice, but the other was kind of rude and weirdly defensive about the ridiculously high temperature. i figured there would be a good fan while i was in the bed, but no such luck. i was dripping with sweat for the longest twelve minutes of my life. i almost couldn't bear it. the only reason i forced myself to finish was the fact that i paid $42 for this single session. after i got out i had to try to dry off with the tiny towel they provided. i ended up having to stand naked in front of their dinky fan until i was dry enough to put my clothes back on. I have very fair skin and can be a little afraid of tanning booths as normally the people try to bake me and I end up leaving burnt. I spoke with the owner and she was beyond helpful. She suggested for the most bang for my buck I do a "double-dip" where I got a tiny base tan in one of the standup machines and then get a mystic tan on top of that. The stand -up booth was pretty normal, but I did see that they have some really high-tech booths for more experienced tanners, or pretty much anyone with a little more color than I (most everyone - ha!). The mystic spray tan was the coolest part. I had visions of turning out like Ross from friends, but it was actually very easy and they were super helpful telling me exactly what to do to help everything look natural. There was no icky smell afterwards and I was able to get dressed right away and go out on the town. The next morning I woke up with the most beautiful looking skin. Not even a little orange - totally gorgeous. It lasted for over two weeks and I still have a "healthy glow". Even though I'm not a regular tanner I will definitely be back and would recommend them for those tanning novices like myself. read more

Decided to try they Mystic, buy one get one free is a good deal (1 is $35) First tan, I did about a month ago - got the typical stinky after smell, didnt shower for about 8 hours, tan got darker and darker and was great. Went for my 'free' tan tonight and I must say, the tan I got today is COMPLETELY different than what I got a month ago. I dont stink as bad (the smell is usually unbearable), and I definitely don't have that bronze look that continue to develops over the next few hours. I DEFINITELY think that for your 'free' tan, they spray you with a completely type of mystic or even one that doesnt have much color in it, not like the first one at all. I think thats how they pull off this 'buy one get one free' special - they really arent losing any money with the free one because you aren't getting a real tan. I've been to this location a few times. Most of the girls are pretty nice and knowledgeable about the products they offer. Its interesting how much there is to know about the science of tanning. I can tan at my gym too and I only come in here to spray tan. I usually use versa spa and its great every time although if you are in a rush, It does take longer then mystic. I tried Mystic there for the first time last week and the color was very light for a level two. I've been using the Mystic system since it came out and was confused as to why this was so light. I called to double check and see what level I had been given and it was in fact a level two. Was a little disappointed but the girl and her manager were super sweet and said I could come back and get the level three at no charge. Great customer service! read more

I've never experienced worse customer service in my life. Staff is slow, (very) rude, inexperienced, and unwelcoming. On top of that, the mystic machine gave a terribly uneven and "wet" tan (not something I've experienced elsewhere), AND the loose door on the booth caused spray to get all over my clothes, which I had folded and placed on the designated table. Came here with a groupon for two sessions - be warned that once you use the first you have a week to use the second. I came on a Monday and they told me my second was only good by Sunday. It was very packed that first evening, and the girls working the desk were nice but as a tanning n00b I felt a little stupid asking them probably basic questions. The stand up bed I used had goggles (string - queue ugly pale lines coming out of my face) and a towel. Hit the blue button above and left to get your session to start. The second time I came to finish my groupon, Amanda the receptionist was so helpful, talked me through my tanning plan (in anticipation of a vacation) and I ended up getting a $99 month long membership that allows me any tanning session worth 3 points - their point system is a little confusing at first. So I wasn't at all planning on getting a package there (thought I'd use groupon to shop around a little more) but because of Amanda's help and realness I did. Wish they had the cone sticky goggles rather than the string ones as my face looks silly now. Their bottles of bronzer are expensive but I don't know if they were worse than typical. I originally had an appointment for 6:30pm, and I called them right before because my boss was keeping me late at the office and they accommodated me by moving my appointment to 7:30pm. I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews. My experiences with Future Tan have been fantastic. I didn't know this place existed until Bloomspot ran a special a few weeks back. My sister & I both bought vouchers. No reservations needed. Receptionist was very polite, didn't give us a hard time at all. We filled in some paperwork and she showed us to our rooms. She explained all the different types of lotion, and which was best to use for our skin. Loved that she knew her tanning lotions! The results were great! They are able to store your tanning lotions for you, so no lugging it around, for no fees. Place is spacious, extremely clean. Convenient location. Wonderful place! read more

Came to town for photoshoot 2/10/19, needed a spray tan same day. They don't have Versa spa, but they had a Norvel machine. I did level one clear and it came out very good! I was greeted immediately by really nice staff, explained my options ( buy one get one free, which I bought), filled out a quick waiver on an ipad, and taken to the room. the machine itself is open and airy. pretty sure its the Novel. the room had a closet for my stuff (shopping bags/clothes/jacket/boots). I lotioned up my hands and feet, covered my hair, and stepped onto the platform. the spray was pleasant. no issues trying to breathe. the voice guided directions were easy to understand. it was over in about 5 minutes. I got dressed, left to a chorus of good-byes from the friendly folks, and went home. The next day I rinsed off, put on moisturizer, and have a PERFECT spray tan. I started coming here a few months back. The gals up front are great. There was once an issue with machinery (the mystery is whether it was machinery or operator error). Somehow it registered my having completed the session, but the machine never turned on. Because of NYC law dictating that a person must wait 24 hours before tanning again, the manager couldn't simply reset that machine. But because she knew I was being honest and really had NOT tanned, she got creative and found a way for me to get that day's session. She went above and beyond to help me!! Terrible experience - was a year-long weekly regular, now not EVER going back I was willing to put up with the rudeness from particular members of staff given the salon's proximity to my apt...but today I discovered (to my detriment) the risks to using a company that doesn't give a monkeys about their customers. When getting a spray tan in the Norvell booth this afternoon, the machine malfunctioned and only sprayed my body from the chest down. If this wasn't enough of a sh*t storm by itself, the receptionist seemed agnostic to the problem, failed to apologise at any point & even beyond failing to come up with a rational solution (going home, washing what I could off, and coming back to spin the wheel again doesn't count I'm afraid) claimed that she didn't know anything about the machine (seems strange given she's been working there for over a year?) and therefore was unable to be of any use. Wtf. Calling the manager on Monday to complain primarily about the extremely shoddy customer service, and obviously the unreliability of the Norvell booth. Let's see what she says, but either way I won't be going anywhere near this place again - horrible horrible experience read more

Very convenient midtown location, a floor above the hectic pace of 7th Avenue. Well furnished and comfortable interior, very clean and not run down like a lot of other salons in the city. I Went pretty late at night (an hour before closing) uncertain of what special promotion would be be best and not sure of which he'd to use given it had been some time since my last visit to a Tanning salon. Luckily I was in very good hands; Monica and Alissa were working that evening and I couldn't have asked for better customer service. They were both we super helpful and knowledgeable, not to mention friendly in a genuine/non-phony way. Ended up giving me a deal in the monthly unlimited membership. Great machines, competitive prices (with points specials happening all the time), super convenient location and hours, and friendly staff. Dana, the manager, is not only the nicest/most patient but she is the BEST airbrush tech in the city. Seriously, I've gotten a lot of airbrush tans and she is perfect every single time.
