This is a pretty store in the heart of Harvard Square with a lovely collection of mostly…read morecontemporary one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. I spied some really eye-catching pieces that would add immeasurably to the knock-out factor when dressing up. These are quality pieces with price tags to match. The day we visited was a busy one but the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating giving us plenty of time to try on a variety of jewelry items from the display cases. No hard sell, no impatience, just good, attentive service. My cousin ended up with a beautiful long silver necklace interspersed with slices of quartz throughout. I fell in love with some dramatic earrings (shown in one of the photos) but when I tried them on they felt too heavy for my ear lobes (one lobe ripped once from years of heavy earrings and had to be repaired by a plastic surgeon so I'm not going down that road again) so with a heavy heart I put those beauties back on the shelf. There is plenty to look at on two floors of space here. There are lots of things to examine and explore on shelves, counters, and behind glass cases all beautifully presented. You can also find a few other things besides jewelry like hand-made silk scarves and metal serving pieces. I thought some of the serving pieces would make an excellent hostess gift when traveling to stay with friends for example. Great place to browse and to find something for yourself or a very special someone else in your life.

And I said "how much is a scarf, I looked at the ones on the other side of the floor and didn't see a tag." TBH, there was a tag, but no price on that tag. He reported with "there's a tag on every scarf." This is not a way to talk to a potential customer. I usually say "never say 'never'", but I will NEVER shop here. And also, if somebody's has less than five stars, the score is actually lower than shown because people give one star actually want to give new stars. I'm one of them.

When shopping I'm playing defense against other patrons, eyeing what is mine ... scuttling around the shop like I'm Gollum mumbling "my precious ... my precious ... my precious .... " I love the people who run Reside -- Pam Watts and Colin Glatzel. They are so so so fabulous. (Sometimes I worry they find me rude as I have to do my scan of the shop before I can properly engage as a human being and say hello.) To me, Reside is an oasis in Cambridge. It's a little slice of NYC, New Orleans, Europe, Africa .... the merchandise is sourced from all over the globe, mostly hailing from the estates of artistically-inclinced and well-traveled beings. Visionaries with taste in abounds who bought things that were designed to last and got better with age. This spot isn't a stuffy antique shop or an insufferable MCM boutique ... it's a way of life and seeing the world. It's for people that don't want to live in a period film that want to mix pieces from varying periods, places, cultures so long as they are beautiful and striking in some intangiable way. It's more enlightened? Also ... the vibe is great. Reside feels like a community, it's where I can go and know I'll see a friend. It's like teleporting to NYC where I know I can share a story about something ridicilous and we can have a laugh. I've also been in awe of both Pam's and Colin's customer service skills. They are so kind, real, genuine, helpful, patient and caring. They remember what I'm looking for and call me when it appears! They help me make the world of my dreams! While in line to buy MY TREASURES I've often overheard patrons be ultra nasty and demanding and totally out of touch with reality to the propriators of this shop and it made my heart BREAK. Cambridge is filled with self-important, entitled, demanding human beings. When a city has such a high ratio of valevictorians and high-achievers who have been told they are THE BEST this is bound to happen. Colin and Pam handle these interactions with such professionalism. They don't bat and eye or complain. They move onwards and upwards. Whereas I'm standing there thinking "did that person really just say what I think they did?" thinking I'd have liked to swung a bat fand booted such bad manners into another zipcode. Come to Reside if you're a good person that loves beautiful things, good people and good manners and keeping it real. Also: Colin Glatzel should be doing interior design on the side. He's going to be a legend someday. Call him up and give him a shot and I'm sure his work will be divine.

We came here because my niece loves the store…read more.... It was my first time in the store, so I was intrigued. The store advertises itself as a place with no high end brands. MUJI's name in Japanese, translates as "no-brand quality goods." The brand mark and the brand name, which are well-recognized by designers, convey a certain image to people beyond factors such as the functionality, quality or value of the product itself. Mujirushi Ryohin was created in Japan in 1980 with the development of 40 products in the areas of apparel, household goods and food--which, as the name indicates, had no brand but were good-quality products. I thought the prices were not bad and the quality was good. My niece bought some writing instruments, which she loves.

After a day of walking around, I knew I had to find a scarf or some type of net gator. We stopped in multiple shops along Newberry Street with no luck. I had not been in MUJI before and was so impressed with the layout, the organization, and the selection. We found the much needed net gator, which was priced fairly and so warm! While the store was crowded, the flow worked well and they had a number of people running the cash register so the line went really quick. Would definitely go back and visit again.

We stumbled upon Boston General Store & it's literally awesome! This store is a great place to go to get unique gifts for others, or for yourself, who don't really need anything but nice to have. I loved the stationary goods section and was ecstatic to find they had mechanical pencils with 2.0 mm lead! This was my favorite lead to write with growing up but I was never able to find them in the U.S. (I would bring these pencils back from Asia). So, it was very nostalgic for me when I saw them & wrote on the notepad with it! I didn't end up purchasing it because I found $12 to be quite steep for one singular pencil that I have no use for currently BUT I do see myself coming back for it haha. They also had a bunch of different home essentials like soaps, honey, & jams here, which I found to be pretty cool & unique. I would definitely come back again to grab some pens & to find gifts! Parking: meter street parking & parking lot behind Maruichi's.

I'll descibe my shopping experience for those interested…read more I came in with a very specific goal: to try out different Herman Miller office chairs (they're truly worth every penny) to see which would fit my body type best. My new year's resolution was to prioritize personal health, and I sit a lot for work so my doctor suggested these chairs. There's not a lot of places that have Herman Miller chairs in stock, and I definitely wanted to try them out in person to see which I liked best before purchasing one. I called ahead and told the associate I would be coming in to test the chairs. I arrived later that day, and the salesperson, Adam, had the different models ready to show and suggested a few that he thought would suit me best. Adam was fantastic- patiently showing me all the features and explaining the chairs' histories and main differences. I did not feel rushed or pushed in any way and it was a very pleasant experience. At the end I asked for a quote for the model, size, and specs I wanted and told him I would think it over. The quote came in a fancy envelope with a printout of the specs. 24 hours later I called and placed my order. About a week later the chair arrived (assembled) from their warehouse. I seriously think this is the best money I have spent in years. The only problem I have is I notice every other chair I sit in is heartbreakingly bad. I am very happy to have shopped at Design Within Reach, and it was exactly what I was hoping to get. I can't comment on other peoples' experiences (I wasn't browsing or casually shopping etc) but Adam and the rest of the staff were terrific.
