This is THE place for amazing American food. The owner is so nice and the place is fun! USA stuff…read moreall around and yes, the owner has been to the states and took a HUGE tour throughout our country! Awesome burgers with amazing buns. Their fries were some of the best I have ever had and I have eaten fries all over the US. Local? Eat here! Traveling through eat here! It is that good!

Located just about a minute or two by foot away from the more touristy places in the pedestrian…read morezone, this American diner is somewhat of a hidden gem in Salzburg. Ask any local for the best burgers in town and you can be sure that Goodmans will be among the names you get. And it doesn't stop there. Unlike your usual hipster places they don't just sell burgers, but actually have a full diner menu on offer. Starters, Soups, Sandwiches, Steaks, Salads - you name it. While the place may be a bit hard to spot from the outside, it just screams American Diner on the inside. The owner has been collecting and decorating his store with authentic diner decorations from all over the US and there is even a real, working Wurlitzer music machine. Speaking of the owner...  his name is Marko Gutman (hence the diners name). I first read about his story in a local newspaper article and it was quite impressive. He basically scraped all of his money together and sold his car and bike to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning an American diner. He's very dedicated, a nice and interesting guy to chat with and you will usually meet him when you visit the place. But, enough with the blah blah, let's get to the good part: The food. Like I mentioned earlier, they very likely serve the best Burgers in all of Salzburg. And I'm not just talking about the Salzburg the city. Their highlight of the (burger) menu - and also what I order most often - is the Goodmans Burger. Black Angus beef with all the works... including bacon, eggs and their great home made barbecue sauce. If you don't fancy that combo you can also "customize" your own beef or chicken burger. All burgers come with nice and crispy home made fries and are served on something that actually deserves to be called a burger bun btw. Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to give the rest of the main courses a try yet, but I will soon, hopefully  (the burgers are just too tempting). What you must try however is their signature desert: The Donut Burger. It's a Donut served with Nutella, crispy cornflakes and fruits. Tastes as wonderful as it sounds weird when you first hear about it. Have it, just trust me! Downsides? Well it's the City of Salzburg, so you can expect somewhat higher prices than in rural areas, but if you're used to your usual tourist places, prices are actually on the fair side. Regarding the Black Angus Burger: it's 19.90 Euros including fries. Last time we were there my girlfriend had a Beef Burger with blue cheese, avocado, tomato and onions (+ fries), which was easily as good at about half the price (~11 EUR). So choose wisely! Bottom line... my experiences with Goodmans so far: A+

Great service and view I would Come here again if I was in…read morethe area. I have no idea why Yelp makes you write more

From the street, you can only see the sign for Walker. Go into the breezeway, through the first…read moredoor, and turn left up the stairs. You'll find yourself in the bar smoking area, and to the left is the non-smoking seating area. Seat yourself, and a server will find you. PRO: food quality (and price) We'll start with the food since that's the highlight. There are a good number of burger selections and combinations. I had the cheeseburger with shinken (ham) and ei (fried egg), which was great. All burgers come with mayonnaise, salat (lettuce), tomatoes, and a bit of mais (corn). The corn was a nice, uniquely non-American addition. And them shinken was a nice adaptation to bacon, which I'm accustomed to. The burger meat is good too. I've had burgers at some other restaurants in Linz that make me wonder if the patties are pre-formed and frozen. The ones from Walker are juicy, tender, and seem fresh and hand-formed. If you're used to American restaurants that serve you a burger with full fixings and a side, be warned. Here, a burger is a burger. The fully dressed burgers comes out on a saucer-sized plate. No extra sides, fries are à la carte, no utensils, no napkins. CON: service Don't expect too much regarding service. I was there on a Sunday afternoon, and there were only two servers for the whole restaurant/bar (three distinct rooms or sections). Once we sat down, it took quite a while (~10-15 minutes) before our server came over to acknowledge us or take our order. That said, once our orders were placed, the food came out relatively quickly.
