It is made with a buttery hazelnut crust and currants. Not raspberries like I have always seen on the knock-offs. (Although admittedly, those are pretty good too....no harm, no foul......they just aren't really what linzer tortes really are.) Anyhow, it's a busy little shop and we had a private section upstairs to enjoy our coffee. Our guide told us to put the little chocolate in the coffee too. Even though I usually like my coffee black, I obliged. When in Rome..... My only regret is not buying one to take home with me. I heard they travel and keep very well.

I was about to give up on Linz until I found this street lined with cafes and little tables with…read moreoutdoor seating. The coffee shop was unexpectedly large. There's indoor seating at two big tables, chairs set around a table, and bar seating. They offer coffee and tea as well as some baked goods, none of which I really fancied. I ordered regular coffee and it was strong, as is all that is offered in Austria I've realized. The employee working there was very friendly. The patrons were mostly young 20-30 year olds. While it's a very modern space, it fits into this seemingly historic pedestrian street.
