We booked a family outing to go to this place for the Axeplosion portion of the business. I was unimpressed from start to finish. The gentleman at the counter was not personable at all. He did not even acknowledge my in laws when they walked in the door a few minutes after we did.
We both had Groupons to use. The fine print said "one per person," my mother in law and I each had one to use. The employee would not let us use both, said it was actually one per reservation, even after I had him read the fine print himself. I understand that Groupons can be difficult to use but nothing in the fine print suggested that we were trying to use them incorrectly.
So, I asked if we could be on two separate lanes and he said there were no other reservations available even though there was nobody else there for the majority of the time we were.
He then shows us how to throw the axes, talking faster than anybody could understand and walks away to go throw a bunch of axes himself on the lane next to us. The only advice he gave was to repetitively antagonize my father in law for flicking his wrist. I can still hear him saying "you're still doing it" in my head. There are MUCH better ways to offer constructive criticism.
The boards in all 3 lanes of the facility were very worn (some worse than others). He said they didn't have any more and wouldn't let us switch lanes, again because supposedly there were more reservations but there were not. Same deal with the axes, they were all broken.
We had minimal guidance on games we could play. Thankfully my husband and I have thrown before and were able to run the show.
Finally at the end of our time when other customers showed up, instead of greeting them, he continued to throw axes.
I will NEVER return to this place and if I were you, I would spare yourself from a night of disappointment and go elsewhere.
We couldn't have had a more positive experience in comparison at other places, like Bad Axe. read more
