We have been here 50 times plus and each sermon has been terrific. He has great energy and passion. Every single time I have left this church, I walk to my car thinking to myself how great the service was and how thankful I am to be a Christian (for 31 years). I went to a church for a long time that had a Pastor that beat us down - every single service. He would say he was just preaching the word and his preaching was a hard style. Looking back, that is not what it was. He wanted to shame us and make us feel defeated. I left there every Sunday feeling sad and nearly hopeless. Scott Cagle is the opposite. He is very uplifting and encouraging. GOD IS SO GOOD!

The staff was very welcoming which I did appreciate. However, my biggest complaint came from my daughter's experience in the 3rd/4th grade room. She said the man in charge was a yeller and often said "shut up," or other mean spirited things to some of the boys. Though not directly yelling and my daughter, she was still uncomfortable. An adult should be able to be reverent and loving for one hour on a Sunday. The service needs to dive deeper into the teachings of Christ and focus less on asking for money on repeat. Donations come from those who feel uplifted and spiritually lead.

God is not a respecter of persons. He will do it for me and you and everyone according to our faith. Just believe! Dr. Ed is truly a man of God to be trusted. He started his ministry 40+ years ago - without one scandal. There are plenty of accusers though- and remember who is the accuser of the brethren. I am a business man with 45 employees and have grown a business from zero to $19M annual revenues following the principals of the kingdom of God and teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This during my attendance of this church with Ed and Nora King as my pastors. I was filled with the Holy Spirit when I was a young Catholic boy, around the age of 8. Other tongues flowed from my inner being before I knew what other tongues were. A "river of living water flowing from my belly". You can have it too! Just ask the Holy Spirit to fill you. It's not a one time thing- it's a continual infilling. Don't pick other good people apart, look at what good they have done giving their lives to others - love never fails. So I decided to do a review based on how someone looking for a new church might view them. Anyway... When I was told about this church, I was skeptical. It's hard to find a good, non-denominational, "come as you are" church where you don't feel like you're being judged on how you look or how you dress. This place was so welcoming and so absolutely loving that even some of my family members who suffer from anxiety felt comfortable. We were told that it was like a big family all worshiping together and it really was -- but surprisingly it didn't feel like you were interrupting a family worship, it was more like you became PART of it. The pastors (Derek and Tammy Sharp) are awesome people. Tammy is the friendliest lady you'll ever meet and Derek [who gave the sermon on Sunday] is energetic and genuine and funny. It's a really young church (I would say that most of those who were in attendance were between 18 and 25) but there were older people to make me feel less self-conscious. :) If I was a young person looking for a church, I would definitely check out The Upper Room. I was a little confused about the music selections and at times I had difficulty following along, but I think that's probably mostly because of my age. I enjoyed the worship music, but didn't quite understand the moshpit-like dancing in the front. It wasn't weird or anything, just different for me. With all that being said, I really, really liked this church and I plan on going back -- perhaps making this THE church I bring my family to. I wish I could give 4.5 stars -- or 4.6. I just feel weird giving someone a perfect score. Update: I am revising my review to 5 stars after attending a few more times and seeing the love and grace they show. Not only did they reach my two sons (18 and 20) and get them interested in church for the first time, but my 18 year old son gave his life to Jesus last night. Absolutely stunning turn of events and I am truly grateful.

I have to address Hayden's review because she apparently left to go to the restroom during the…read moreservice and was asked to sit at the back. This is addressed each and every service ahead of time, so everyone knows while they still have plenty of time to visit the restroom before the teaching begins. It is simply a matter of respect to ask people who must get up and return during the teaching to not disrupt the service. It causes a distraction no matter how quietly you try to re enter, it distracts people's attention away from the teaching. If only one or two people do it, it wouldn't be that much of a distraction, however, if it is acceptable to do that, it would be constant distractions throughout the teaching. At the beginning of each service, there are approximately 40 minutes between worship, announcements and greeting one another that anyone can go visit the restroom if necessary and return to your seat before the teaching begins. It is only once the teaching has started that they request anyone returning sit at the back or in the cafe area. I hope this clarifies it for everyone.

I've gone to a Calvary Church for the last ten years and this location for the last 4. I love how he breaks down scripture and explains it in a way I can not only understand but also remember. I grew up in a topical preaching church and was amazed at how ignorant I was at 34 despite going to church my whole life. The signs posted about no young children in the sanctuary are very clear and this has always been a policy in every Calvary chapel I've attended. It makes sense. The services are like a class and distractions make it very hard to listen. Thankfully they have multiple other spaces where children can go with their parents if the parents don't want them in the children's ministry. My kids love it though, so I enjoy my one hour a week to listen to the Word. I also listen to all their past teachings when I'm driving or have time to myself. Can't say enough good things about this place. Must be why it's growing so much!!
