Bottom Line: A nice little museum providing some history of Crisfield…read more I love the heritage and culture of the Chesapeake Bay so this local museum was right up my alley. There seem to be several visitor centers and museum like buildings in Crisfield but this particular one is set back from Main Street in the Somer's Cover Marina. This museum consists of the main building and few outdoor exhibits too. The main building has a friendly staff, small but interesting museum, tiny gift shop (mostly book and ornaments) and restrooms. Regarding the museum exhibits, my favorite was the story of John Woodland Crisfield bringing the railroad into what was then called Somer's Cove. I am fascinated by trains so that was perfect for me. I also really enjoyed the exhibit about the lost island of Holland Island. (I cringe wondering if that is Smith Island's fate too.) A third exhibit I really enjoyed was the The Briddell Company exhibit as the Carvel Hall knife is my preferred knife for crab pickin'. Many others are proud owners of the Caravel Hall knife, named for a luxurious hotel in Annapolis, such that The Bridell Company later changed their name to Carvel Hall. We visited Labor Day weekend and the museum fee of $3 per person was waived so we donated instead. After making our donation we headed outside to check out the replica of a crab shanty and the waterman's pavilion exhibit. We also chatted with the gentlemen working and he was very friendly.

All of the exhibits speak to the town and how it has thrived on the crabbing, as well as other, industries. Also, this museum is named for, and gives a look at the life of one of the few governors of the State of Maryland that was born on the historic Eastern Shore. Well worth a detour and an hour of your time! Don't forget to visit the gift shop!

Not surprised by the price--tourist attractions in OCMD are bound to be pricy. That said, I think it was fun and surprisingly intense! I'm a bigger girl, so I will say the carts can be uncomfortable especially since they will try to shove your whole party in the car if it's a small party. A scare actor had to help my friends and I clear a hill because we were sandwiched in and weighing the car down. Whoever was playing Pennywise that week--you're the best, dude. Additionally, there is an adjacent horror-themed store called 'Ghoulish Things' that I also highly recommend!

Nothing in there is scary, per se--the scares come from things and people jumping out at you, optical illusions and the like. But I love it because it has mostly stayed the same over the decades--the same music, the same coffin cars, the same tinny music, the same door covered in gum on the top floor (I hate when they clean it). The one addition I like (which isn't new anymore) is the merch they sell--I've got a fridge magnet, a keychain and a drawing of the building. The Ocean City Boardwalk is one of my favorite places on earth and the Haunted House is my favorite thing about it. May it live forever.

There were a lot of games here that were $1 and under even which allowed the kids to play for a good chunk of time as well as having a lot of variety in games. We also loved the spending of 5 tries and getting an extra credit for a lot of the prize games.
