The staff couldn't be more friendly and will bend over backwards to help you. Nothing is too much trouble. The prices in there aren't too bad at all. OK the nature of the business means there are no cheapies but certain stores are still well over priced but not here at Music man. The after care service is great, nothing is too much trouble for them and they want their customers to go away happy. My daughter is quite happy to go back here for all her guitar accessories as well as the next time she needs her guitar restrung.

I get the impression that they started out as a mobile DJ and karaoke machine supplier along with some cheaper PA's and sound systems and branched out into a few of the budget guitars and things and now they've got this uneasy mix. I'm always going for either highly technical queries regarding professional equipment which they can't really help with and would have to order in anyway or I'm on the musical instrument side which they only cover the basics of for the purposes of the beginner. From a personal perspective, this means that it's the worse of the two, in my opinion, but ignoring my personal bias, this branch is a lot easier to navigate, has a larger selection of stock and is larger, too. There is a massive selection of DVDs and games, of all genres and types, and a reasonable selection of music. Definitely worth a look!

Personally, I dread going into HMV as there is always booming music playing, but I used to tolerate it for student discount! Their pricing is very competitive however, and I often still visit there if I need a DVD for a present. Blast From The Past is just that, it's a retro toyshop that has figures galore, loads of old Nintendo games which pleased my gaming obsessed son no end, and there vinyl section had the most fantastic selection of 80's soundtracks I've seen in quite some time. The staff were fantastic, even though we didn't spend more than a fiver, they were warm and welcoming. Shops like these are an asset to the local community. I can't wait until I've got a bit more spare cash to hand (school uniform season!) to go back and have me a bit of a soundtrack splurge!

You've probably never seen so many records in your life. The place is like a mine. The cold, the mess, Radio 1 on the go.. you will never forget what you see. This place can be your heaven or hell. Some record diggers will shake in fear at the thought of digging in this place and some will accept the challenge willingly. Bring a cup of tea in a flask, a portable turntable and try and get through every record in this shop. You'd be there for years!
