Incase you don't know they sell branded shoes, like Uggs, Converse, Diesel, Paul Smith, Hush Puppies ect ect. My prefered choice of shoes are Converse- I know I should of grown out of them by now but they are so reliable and go with everything. Anyway Soletrader always has a good selection, and also Birkenstocks, the most comfy sandals ever. Staff are a bit hit and miss here and the service lets them down a bit.

But this shop excels when it comes to boots. Whether you're an Uggs fan, or you're more of a Dr Martens person, there are plenty to choose from. This is the ideal place to come when winter kicks in because you can go straight to the boots and immediately find what you need. This isn't the most colourful of shops, in its shoes or the shops personality in general (or the staff's personalities for that matter) but it's all about practical, everyday footwear. Great for browsing in that everything is clearly and spaciously displayed, however, it's worth checking the prices of some shoes in other shops before you buy them here, as Soletrader tends to be more expensive.

Slightly…read moredifferent in that it is equally as fantastic, but I can see how some people may not feel as at home in Schuh as I do, while I find it hard to imagine a woman who would not love Barratts. Barratts is the place to go to get a pair of sexy heels that aren't too OTT. Heels that will go with everything, as opposed to that one outfit you don't even wear that often (or even the outfit you swear you'll find eventually but never do...). Most of the shoes here are simple, classy, but sexy at the same time. They're versatile and would go with pretty much anything. And they're all of a higher quality than the shoes you'd get in a high street clothing chain like New Look or Primark, so you know they'll last a while. This is probably the best place to look for prom, graduation or similar shoes, purely because they're comfortable, tasteful, are in colours that are easy to find matching dresses for, and remain fashionable at the same time. The boots and flats are equally great, as are the children's shoes. The men's shoes aren't really anything special, but again would be ideal to for (semi)formal occasions, and will be shoes that you can wear again and again for years to come. I've also recently discovered that this particular branch now sells women's shoes from a size 1 (!!) to a size 10. And I'm not talking special shoes that no-one would actually want, I mean the same shoes that everyone else gets, just in size 1 and size 10 too. I don't have feet that small or that big, but I think it's pretty cool that anyone who does can buy shoes that are actually for fashionable women, rather than restricted to buying children's or men's shoes. I can't talk this shop up enough; it really is just fantastic. It's also one of those wonderful shoe shops that does most of its styles in hundreds of colours so when you find a style that you really like, you can buy lots and lots of pairs!

In fact last time I was in this store, I asked the shop assistants advice on how to get a make up stain off my Hugo Boss bag (I'm an idiot, I know), and she was incredibly helpful and actually tested a range of their products on my bag in order to sell me the item which would have the optimum results. Most impressed, would certainly recommend.

Right next to Royal Arcade is a narrow paved corridor, with a snake of sunlight through glass weaving above your head, as you travel through Victorian/Edwardian/nice architecture... This arcade is worth a visit even if you don't intend to do any shopping. Although, if you do, there are delicatessens, health, jewellers, shoes, fair-trade, art shops, stationers, sweet shops, chocolate shops, furniture shops and cafes...

There's also Isabella's for Welsh gifts and Murano glass jewellery; Neal's Yard Remedies for organic natural health and beauty products; Route One for skateboards and inline skates, clothing and accessories; and a couple of ladies' fashion boutiques such as Rouge and Seren. And now that Spillers Records - the oldest record shop in the world - has moved from its original location on The Hayes into Morgan Arcade, there's even more reason to venture to the arcade when you're out shopping. I'd never heard of Graceland shoes (one of the most common makes of shoes in stock in Deichmann) but they are quite possibly the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever bought, despite their 4.5" heel. The men's shoes are also fantastic, and the children's shoes are lovely, but unfortunately there isn't a huge variety for kids. I didn't have much of a look around the sports shoes, but I know they have many well-known brands that are quite reasonably priced. There is a good range of sizes available here too, catering for tiny to enormous feet. Even though this shop works on a self-service basis, the staff are by no means absent. They are very friendly and make themselves readily available should you need any help or advice. Office have some of the mos spectacularly silly shoes that I've ever seen. They're pretty and colourful and frilly when you see them all together, but on their own I personally think they're just ugly. There are a lot of more sensible shoes, but prices can be very high, especially in their boots section. These are shoes that make a fashion statement. I practically live in Converse at the moment and there is nowhere better than Schuh to find a pair a little bit out of the ordinary! At the minute I am walking around in a pair of pink and black Converse which I have jazzed up with silver laces. This shop also has a great 'own brand' range which are not only great quality they are also very light on the bank balance. I have just bought a pair of Schuh's king cross weave sandals for my holiday. They are lush! I haven't worn them yet as I don't want to scratch them before I go, but every night before I go to bed I give them a sneaky kiss and a cuddle just to ensure they are still there! It's worth going here when there is a sale on as they mark down prices are superb!
