I was on the fence after mixed reviews, and while some finds felt genuinely unique, others seemed a little overpriced. It's located under the Manhattan Bridge at 80 Pearl St. and has a mix of vintage clothing, jewelry, antiques, collectibles, art, records, and handmade goods. The vintage point-and-shoot camera table was the highlight for my teen and apparently a ton of twenty-somethings are drawn to those Canon ELPHs and PowerShots, Nikon Coolpix, Sony Cyber-shots, and Fujifilm FinePix cameras. Those cameras are having a serious comeback, thanks to their nostalgic early-2000s look of soft, grainy, flash-heavy photos that somehow feel cooler than anything your way more modern phone takes. The crowd surrounding the table never died down. My only regret is arriving midday so consider going earlier in the morning to browse without the shoulder-to-shoulder chaos. Open Saturdays & Sundays, 10 AM-5 PM. From Manhattan, the F to York St. or A/C to High St. My tip: Make it part of a DUMBO day, not the main event. Even if you leave empty-handed, you've still got bridge & waterfront views, Time Out Market, and plenty to explore. That was our plan, and it worked out perfectly.

The waterfront district here starting to get developed into prime real estate just like Brooklyn Bridge Park as the previous industrial area makes way to residential / commercial. Situated in Industry City the warehouse hub where food establishments are using the industrial space to prepare their food to be distributed throughout the NYC area. Smorgasburg now has set up shop here on the weekends. It's a bit confusing to navigate since it's such a large commercial park but Smorgasburg is situated in building 1 and on the 2nd floor. One side of the large floor space is dedicated to the flea portion and the other side is dedicated to the food stall section. Some highlights in the food section are the ramen shack with the same proprietor of the ramen burger. The ramen shack is a small stall seating at the bar. The ramen is quite good. Had the Brooklyn style and spicey ramen. Both broths were really good along with the tender pork. The add on elements of a tea egg and the spices really make it a good bowl of ramen on a winters day. The tonkatsu broth really shines. Wowfulls another stall serves Hong Kong style waffle cakes but in this instance wrapped crepe style and filled with ice cream and add ons. The green tea wowfull with ice cream and mocha really make a great snack or dessert. In all the seasons smorgasburg in industry city is a great choice of venue.

This flea is a few blocks away from the market , within walking distance. What I loved about this particular one, was that it wasn't overwhelmingly huge. Just the perfect amount of vendors selling quite a few vintage items and antiques. I zeroed in on the $10 or less tent and the brooch/pin/jewelry vendor. It is convenient to get to since it sits right near the 28th St (1, N, R, W) subway stations. While it is a fun spot to browse for vintage treasures like cameras, clothing. decor, purses, jewelry, it is not necessarily a major destination spot (in my opinion). I would only recommend stopping by if you are already staying or hanging out in the area. Depending on the month or the day, I have spent anywhere from 10 minutes to up to an hour here, it really just depends on your mood, the weather and how much you want to dig through the treasures. The vendors are friendly and no one is pushy. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. TIP: some vendors do take electronic payments, but definitely bring cash just in case.

Exactly the type of location you'd picture it at - a perfect fit. There are upwards of 30 vendors in the space with everything from pottery, clothing, jewelry, coasters, plants, and general household knick-knacks that you're SURE to find something for yourself or something for a friend's birthday or for a "just because" gift. I'm obsessed. It's extra cool because you're shopping local and supporting local businesses and artists. Tip: don't miss the trucks stopped outside that are also part of the event (esp Hunt & Gather!). So freaking cool that there are pop-up shops INSIDE trucks as part of the pop-up shop! As most know, shopping local oftentimes comes at a cost... and some things are a bit pricey. Which is why I'm knocking it down a star. It's not the market's fault, but it still makes it tough for us sort-of-frugal-buyers to find affordable items. I did, however, get an amazing coaster with the Brooklyn Bridge on it, painted by a local, and there were some plates/bowls and rings I had my eye on as well. I have included a photo of the feces they left on the sidewalk. This is either done by the owner or one of the vendors. I came back a few days later to see if somebody cleaned it up. Not only did they not clean it up, but there was more! There is a 100% chance that there is fecal coliform on every product that this flea market! If you shop here, you going to get everybody in your house severely sick or worse! If you browsed here, wash and sterilize your hands with rubbing alcohol! Jesus! And they're selling food here! It has a fun and lively vibe with a mix of vintage items, handmade crafts, jewelry, artwork, clothing, collectibles, and food stands all in one place. What we liked most was how easy it was to spend a few hours just walking around and exploring different local vendors and small businesses. The market feels very New York, with lots of unique finds and creative products you do not usually see in regular stores.

It made my visit to the Bazaar all the more pleasant. I've been coming to Grand Bazaar for more years than I care to remember, having taken a break for ten -- okay twenty -- years. Can't put my finger on why, perhaps I'm not as interested as I used to be. While the market is vibrant and busy, it's not as it was. Perhaps not as much diversity in wares. (I used to get a lot of pottery, art and vintage jewelry.) Back in the day, my friends and I would go to the East Village and buy funky old fur jackets for a song. I kind of had that in the back of my mind coming here. (There are many vintage coat vendors.) But prices have risen considerably. (What hasn't?!) The market is open Sundays, year 'round. Despite buying nothing, I know I'll be back. (Maybe coats get cheaper when it's warmer.) Plus, I like strolling around on the upper westside, which has a different flavor than the eastside, where I live.
