The 5 star review is for the Front desk staff and the Watch Commanders. I have a nephew at Fulton County jail. We heard he was involved in some kind of altercation that required for him to go to the hospital. My nephew mom and I called the jail to figure out what was going because we hadn't heard from my nephew all day. That night we spoke with the Watch Commander Captain Wells, she couldn't share much info but she said he was ok. Captain Wells was short with the convo. but she was professional and informational. I came to the jail the next day in person to speak to someone about the condition of my nephew. Upon arrival I was greeted and about 5 officers immediately tried getting me some assistance. There was a older white guy and the Watch Commander Captain Holiday, answered all my concerns about my nephew. They may have been feeding me some BS about his wellbeing, but they were so nice I had no choice but to believe them. The jail condition and the inmates safety are horrible, but the front desk and the entry of the jail customer service is A+. read more

DON'T compare JAIL to the HOTEL!! lol...We never know where we may have to go. I have a legal matter that brought me here. Not my idea of grand, however, but many much more worse places to be. The most impressive factor was that I had a personal item of A+ priority and I did get it returned to me promptly. Everyone should exhibit a certain decent amount of friendly based upon their career. They are NOT car salesmen. The vending machines were modern and they did have a state of the art Inmate System. Securus/Smart Deposit. I had to use the restroom and it was clean with locks on the restroom to limit any more forms of drama. Who in the heck makes a date to the County Jail? So why would I even think to take a peek at this facility, however the people in the jail were cool as heck. Jails should give YOU EVERY reason to provoke NO return. P.S. This place is a run down hell hole that treats young aged inmates under 25 inhumane!! They have my son arrested there and he and some others locked up there have complained about being on lock down all day with the exception of them being let out for an hour , only 3 rooms at a time. They can't clean their rooms as needed because they aren't allowed access to cleaning supplies. Many of the inmates are carrying dangerous makeshift shanks. The jail is lacking in serious medical attention. Some guards are bullies and one tased my son for no reason and so after I emailed the jail to raise concerns about these issues, no one ever reached out. Fulton county jail is a mockery and I will OWN THAT ENTIRE COUNTY if they don't get my son some medical attention from where they YANKED that taser out of his groin region and a knot has developed and been growing there ever since then. read more

This place is horrible. Even though your in jail people are still human. Days in a holding cell sleeping on the floor. No water,no toilet paper,no blankets,sleeping on the hard cold cement floor. The girl next to me had her monthly cycle waited over 4 hours for someone to help her. Some of the guards are wrapped around male inmates fingers and do whatever they want. They really treat the women there badly. Really inhumane There was atleast 10 of us in a holding cell sleeping bunched up. The sink in the holding cell didn't work. read more

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE "KNOW BEFORE YOU GO" EXPERIENCE! No Honey, I did not shank anyone and end up in county jail! Let's just say I went on a field trip today and there are some things that you need to know before you go. If you are going to the Fulton County Jail on Rice Street from the burbs, you will want to drive. We took Marta down because we were handling business at the courthouse and somehow it was assumed that the jail was connected. No Ma'am, that is not the case as the jail is miles away. We hailed a taxi to get to the jail and were met with a little surprise when we arrived. Here is what you need to know: It is located in an isolated area away from any businesses so you can't just walk down the street for refreshments or anything. You are not allowed to enter the building if you are wearing sandals or carrying a bag, (not even a purse). You are not allowed to take in a cell phone under any circumstances. You cannot wear a short skirt or mini-dress. Since my daughter and I were wearing sandals, we were not going to be able to go inside of the building. However, my daughter really needed to go inside because she was the interpreter. So in order to go inside, she had to trade shoes with her father. Yes, she gave my husband her black sandals with the cute little flowers while he gave her his size 12 boats. After adjusting her dress, (ideally it should reach her knees but it didn't) she was permitted to enter. Daddy and I waited outside bewildered! We obviously did not handle this morning's plans, but simply tagged along for moral support so this is why we ended up in this dilemma. Anyway, the officers who were handling the security checks were very helpful with answering our questions and providing information. As you are facing the building, there is a small sitting area off to the left. However, it is for smoking, so not an option. We wander over to the general area because it is shaded and we find a concrete structure (away from the smoking), to sit on as we wait for our daughter to return. Just remember that if you must visit this area, you want to know all of the rules and policies in advance and you will definitely want to drive instead of taking a taxi. Parking is not an issue here so it is highly recommended that you drive. ***As we are walking away from the facility just trying to find a commercial area so that we can summon a ride back to the station. A guardian Angel (Tasha),suddenly pulls over and offers us a ride to the train station, which we gladly accept because it a hot day and we really have no idea where we are. We accept her kind gesture and arrive at the station with only minutes (3) to spare. Thanks Ms. Tasha! ***Several years ago as I was driving around Alpharetta, an unfamiliar woman (sweating profusely), approached me and asked for a ride to the bus station. Although I had lived in the area for years, I did not know that there was a bus station here. It was an extremely hot day so I gave her a ride as she directed me to the location. She was very appreciative and thanked me repeatedly. Today as I received an act of kindness, I remembered her. I had an adult sleepover here once and let's just say that I'm not impressed. I mean what kind of place doesn't even give you underwear? The food is horrible. No vegan options available at all. Bologna with pepper jack cheese and a juice that has no straw. No privacy when you use the bathroom and let's not even get into the fact that there is one square of tissue. You're cramped in a small cell with at least 10-12 people and there are roaches. This place needs to be shut down and re-vamped. How do you "review" a jail. I dont know but i will do my best. I had a lady friend who was living with me at the time and we had a very contentious relationship. We were always screaming at each other. One day, a saturday, we got into another biggie. I was completely ignoring her and i played Meatloaf's "paradise by the dashboard light" as loud as it would go on my computer which was very loud. I got up to sit on the couch to ignore her and she jumped on me and started to choke me. In the melee a glass fell on the floor and shattered. I jumped up and ran outside to get away from her. A few seconds later she runs screaming out of the house with blood gushing down her face. She picked up a piece of glass and slashed herself on the forehead. She called the cops from a neighbors house and said i did it so hence i went to jail. She did too as i had strangulation marks on my neck. I got to the intake center which was orderly and clean.....not rowdy and loud and disgusting like i thought it would be. The guards knew i was a first timer and they treated me with compassion and friendliness. They led me to my cell which i shared with two other people. I was on the floor. There were no mice or roaches or anything which surprised me again. At 7am they called my name to go to court. I thought i was headed downtown but they have a court in the jail itself. Most of the inmates seemed pretty normal....not monsters like on the MSNBC show Lockup. They dismissed my case immediately and went to a holding cell to wait for release. It was disgusting. Trash on the floor and "stuff" smeared on the wall. I was in that cell for 9 hellish hours waiting to go home. Its difficult to hear in jail as everything echos and the holding cell was the worst for that. Now the food. It was not that bad actually. For "breakfast" they gave us oatmeal with a piece of sausage. The sausage was actually quite tasty and spicy. Oatmeal is oatmeal. For lunch we got a bologna and cheese sandwich which was not bad either. It was pretty darn good too. Bread was soft and we got packets of mayonnaise and mustard. Right before i left they served us another sandwich. As i was leaving they gave me a marta card as i didnt have my wallet or any cash to get home. That was a godsend as i would have had to have walked home if they didnt give those out. Oh, they also gave me pills for my blood pressure which was nice. The moral of this review.......you dont want to go to jail. Its a lonely, depressing place. But, if you do have to go, request to go to the Rice Street one. I think its newer and very clean and orderly and the food isnt half bad. read more

Jail is not supposed to be fun but some things here are fucked. Some people get lunch, some don't and thats one of the worst things. You may be thinking thats not that bad but breakfast is at 3 am and dinner is at 6:30 pm. It is especially concerning that in the handbook which i read because you are basically staring at a wall 99 percent of the time, it says that everyone gets lunch and lists the times. All of this was bs. And also the food was utterly disgusting like u dont expect it to be good i mean its jail but not to the point where you dont want to eat it. Breakfast is always baloney and bread and the baloney doesnt seem bad at first but by the second day i was gagging just smelling it. Bread is ok. Dinner wasnt terrible besides bugs in the vegtables one day. Talked to one guy there and said he hasnt had fuit in a year. Guards are disrespected so much that they are tired of the bullshit so they are mean to everyone. My sink didn't work also and nothing was done about that. Guards would just ignore you even when you are respectful and have never had a problem. Asked for water 3 times one day and was promised it every time only for them to not come back ever.... No drinks were served at meal times although they give you a packet of drink flavoring. Most are expected to drink from sinks but literally ours did not work so there was no way to get water. Couldn't even try to work out or anything because i was so thirsty and hungry 24/7. There are a few guards that are ok if you are str8 with them. The system and everything in Fulton county takes forever but theres some things that are alright. The clothing was warm and they give you enough blankets which is good although sometimes it gets down to where u freezing your ass off. moral is don't get arrested its not fun. If there were 3 meals that didn't taste great and guards were better at doing their job and they abided by the handbook it would still be bad but what jail should be. read more

I don't appreciate Fulton County Jail giving me false positive results for syphilis and being left in a closed van with no A/C no ventilation for 20 minutes with 14 other women. I would have given this jail 4 stars at first because it was almost like summer camp - free concerts performed by inmates, dance practice, church etc BUT it's not fair I have to stop being a care-free hoe all because I'm too scared that every and anyone may have a disease - I guess it's good for me but UGH!!!!!!! read more
