Before I thought this was just a part of North Avenue Beach. Fullerton Beach is apparently its own one according to maps. It actually doesn't seem like much of one because there's not even any sand. Apparently there used to be, but now this is just all concrete. There's pretty good views of the skyline and city though. Apparently erosion has ruined it, so that's why it's not much of a beach. It's been replaced by concrete. The good thing is you can go home without an ass full of sand. A bad thing is how hard the ground is. This is concrete after all, so it's not comfortable to lay on. Also the ground gets hot. Hard to believe anyone would rather come here to sunbathe than on a sandy beach not far away from this. A few good things are around here. The Theater On The Lake is a good play to watch a play. Go to a better beach. It's just to the north of one of the city's best and most popular. This also isn't that far from other stuff in Lincoln Park, and you can lie in grass there, and still be able to chill and sunbathe. read more

02/04/22 - it's been months since I've been out here by the lake. Just another day in paradise known as Chicago w/our magnificent Lake Michigan. Today it's a relatively warm day in February. It's a balmy sunny 24 degrees. The left over snow from a few days ago is floating & freezing on the lake. It's cold but absolutely magnificent. This morning there was some moron walking on the lake near promontory point about 1/2 mile off of the shore. WGN TV was filming this moron walking on the lake. The Chicago Police were called to ask him to come in off of the lake. This is what I call a very dim light that's pretty low on the evolutionary scale. read more

It doesn't exist anymore!!! With the reconstruction after the winter damage of 2019 to 2020 they closed it. Now it's open but it's Gone !!! There are barriers and rocks against the encroaching lake. At least they widen the pedestrian path read more

This particular spot idle right off of Fullerton Ave. there is no sand, just cement steps to lay on and grassy areas. There are ladders to step down the cement wall but it's deep. You'd need to know how to swim or a float. But, it's not touristy. Which is Why we went there. There is a beer/concession stand I never saw before. Beautiful view of the city. Great spot! read more

If you're a fan of going to the beach, but not a fan of sand getting literally everywhere then this is the beach for you. Fullerton Beach is the perfect spot to set up a picnic and lounge for a few hours with some buddies. The beach consists of grass and cement, so you don't have the same vibe as North Ave beach next-door at all. Fullerton Beach is way more chill. There are a lot of bicyclist so make sure you stay clear out of their way. If you're walking your dog or coming with children, make sure they stay clear of the bike paths as not to cause any accidents. The place is easier to access with public transportation, than it is to deal with finding reasonably priced parking. I would definitely take the bus over instead because it's cheaper. One of my favorite things about this area is going in the evening time and watching the sunset with a whole bunch of strangers and appreciating it all. It's definitely something you should do if you haven't. read more

This is the spot if you want the ultimate view of the city and the lake. This beach has sand as well as a grassy area where you can relax and enjoy the view. The Fullerton beach is back and better than ever! After a storm clobbered the lakefront in Oct 2014 most of Fullerton beach stayed closed for an awesome renovation. As of March 2016 the location reopened with some sweet new features. You'll most likely find me there but here's what else you can expect: - A huge, expanded green space for lounging, similar to Diversy Harbor but with less shade (trees are too new). The land area is so much bigger than the old Fullerton beach which mostly served as a bike path. - A circular tree-shaded space with built-in rock seating. Great spot to meet people before heading out on a run or bike ride. Also a good spot to just relax and enjoy the lake breeze. - The restrooms are open just above (north of) Theater By the Lake; you have to walk around the building, off the main path. It's easy to find and in plain sight. - There's a bike rack on the east side of the theater; right near the interior path. - There's a huge Divvy station conveniently just across Lake Shore Drive. - The lakefront trail splits into two paths for a short distance but reconnects just before you hit beach front path. Runners and bike riders can coexist in harmony for a brief moment. - A new water fountain for refueling (4 spigots) - Beautiful views of the lake and downtown - Good access to Lake Shore Drive if you have a car, but no parking. If you get enough of the sunshine and lake views head over to the Lincoln Park Zoo and Nature Boardwalk, it's a block away! read more

Having resided in Texas most of my life you get used to beaches being ugly and salty. Not Fullerton beach. It was a pretty big mind fuck to see waves, water, lifeguards, and a beach, but when you jump into the water there is no need for you to wipe your eyes because its a fresh water lake. This place takes On top of this, it seems to me like everybody in Chicago is in shape. The babe-o-meter was off the charts. Overall, this beach was one of the nicer beaches I have been too. Good company, great view, great weather. They had recycle bins too. Not something people really care about down here in Texas. I thought it was pretty cool. read more

This is the beach that we went to when I was a little kid!!! However, I don't remember it being quite so SMALL. Maybe things look bigger when you're little... North Ave. Beach is where it's at but for the memories I give Fullerton four stars :). read more

Attention Photographers: This beach, I would argue, has the BEST SKYLINE VIEW. With the perspective following the light North Avenue sandy beach with the splashing blue water, Lake Shore Drive shoreline and the Hancock Building as the focal point. Fullerton Beach is pleasant, if you're not all about sand being on a Beach. Most of it's grass but there is the Theatre on the Lake if you're in for a show with a gorgeous surrounding.. You can always walk along it's gigantic rocks and swerving (watch out for those bikers) bike path. read more

I love this beach!!! I went to DePaul so I came here all the time in college. It's nice and small and definitely not as crowded as Oak St. or North Ave. beaches. It has a great skyline view and is easily walkable to the aforementioned beaches by simply strolling south down the sand. There are also bathrooms located nearby. This beach is kind of hard to find, if you're a tourist. We just saw it from the Parkway, and had trouble getting to it by car. We had to park in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and walk there, with the help of a knowledgeable Chicagoan. Now, about the view of Lake Michigan: priceless. I was completely awestruck by its beauty. We were only in the city for a few hours, but this was definitely a gem not to be missed. It is an absolute beautiful section of the neighborhood to run in. It made me want to run spontaneously! Fullerton beach is a good beach to visit and just up from North Avenue Beach. Though it is closer to Lake Shore Drive and a bit narrow in places certain parts and can be crowded and dirty, but it does have a bathroom across the walk way which is a huge plus in my book. The beaches are actually groomed daily if you can believe that one. In the late morning it looks like a resort....well sort of *grin*. Plus if you want food or a drink, Castaways is a hop, skip, and jump south of this beach. read more

Having been working in Chicago in several locations. I can attest the view located at Fullerton and LSD (or where they merge...just walk east until lake!) has the best view of the city. Often I run 5K's from Uptown here just to chill and take it in. Highly recommend for photographers and for dates also. read more

I have been there a few times and it's a great place. There's always parking available somewhere near which makes this experience much more pleasant. It doesn't get crowded here as the other beaches. I might be vising or going there for a walk during winter so I hope it won't be to windy!! read more
