I parked my car @ the harbor for $10 and went on a really beautiful stroll along the lakefront.....I fell head over heels in love with my beautiful city, scenic route and the skyline. Love CHICAGO !

I cannot help but to stop here when I'm running or riding my bike downtown, and also through Boystown - Lakeview neighborhood. What attracts me to Belmont Harbor is the beauty of it! I have taken many pictures of it and it never seems to get old to me. Belmont Harbor has this classy feel to it and sometimes makes me feel as though I'm not in Chicago. I cannot get enough of it; it is one of those landmarks that attracts many of us that run, walk or ride along the Lakefront trail. Inside of the Harbor there is a dog beach where many take their dogs, and also a mini playground for children. Enjoy!

I had the extreme privilege of living across the street from here. I think this harbor has such an enjoyable environment and boasts one of the best view of the skyline. I would often be found here jogging along the lake, which wraps around a harbor. You look one way and you see all lovely docked boats in a harbor, look another way and all you see is glistening lake, and behind you is grassy lawn offering recreation, and ahead is the skyline along the shore. Beautiful! It is very dog and bike friendly too. There is a golfing, walking paths, volleyball, etc. The totem pole (which is very cool), if often a good meeting landmark. I've taken a few outdoor fitness classes here. I also have enjoyed bringing my small portable charcoal grill and just spending the day grilling and relaxing. The only downfall that I can think of is that you cannot swim in the water here. But that was ok with me because it made it more peaceful.

A beautiful evening enjoying the reflection of the moon on the water.

Belmont harbor is a great escape for the land and water adventurer with pets! Star #1 goes to convenience and parking accessibility. You would enter through Recreation Drive through Chicago's Lake Shore Drive. Upon entering through the park there is paid parking available for $14 for the day across from the harbor. Star #2 for per friendly. It's a beautiful view and plenty for those who want to enjoy a nice walk or run around the harbor. There is also a dog beach for your furry companions! Star #3 for sailing classes and charters. They have sailing classes and charters for you to learn or rent a sail boat for a few hours. Star #4 is for boaters. If you have a boat the marina is managed by West Rec, for more info visit www.chicagoharbors.info. It is one of the largest harbors in Chicago. They can accommodate yachts on deck, sailboats on stardocks or an adventurous fishing boat. We visit as we have several friends with boats and always enjoy the convenience of parking. I did not give this harbor 5 stars as it is missing a nice little cafe or bistro restaurant to get drinks or food. If you're fortunate enough to have friends in the boating community, you have one up on some grub. But if you're just leisurely passing by, a nice little refreshment stop would be a nice addition. #Chicago #BelmontHarbor #Sailing #Boating

Chicago Walking Tour - Elevated Architecture Downtown 'L' Train…read moreWe have previously taken the CAC boat tour and one of the surface walking tours (both of which were great), but this time we wanted something with a slightly different perspective while staying downtown. We chose the Elevated Architecture Downtown 'L' Train tour led by Andrew, our CAC docent. As no one else had signed up for the tour that morning, it became a private tour. Andrew was not only very knowledgeable about the architecture and friendly, but also, given that he works in planning at the Chicago Metro, was able to take us on an even deeper dive concerning the "L", its history, and some of the current challenges. As we were about 35' about street level for the tour, we were also treated to a different perspective of the building and their design/decoration, something that cannot be readily observed from street level. Thans again to Andrew for an information and entertaining tour above the streets of downtown Chicago-truly a unique experience.

It causes the person you follow's reviews to tier to top when you pull up a business. I find this very handy when researching venues. Rod's Review grading scale explained. Essentially I personally base it on the likelihood of a return visit and I try to be stingy with 5 star reviews since they should be "special" in my eyes. Price/Value also play a role obviously but there are $ and $$$$ littered across my grading scale. 5 stars - "I'll go out of my way" (approx 6 % of my reviews) 4 stars- "If I was in the area I'd go here and would recommend", (approx 38% of my reviews) 3 stars "Maybe if was nearby", (approx 37% of my reviews) 2 stars -"Would likely not return, Only if you want to go", (approx 16% of my reviews) 1 star -"No thanks, even if I was hungry", (approx. 3 % of my reviews)
