Another awesome experience with Cheri and her team at Full Cycle Accountants. Tax season is so much easier now.

After upgrading their website from the 90s, customers including myself continue to have issues. Recently, I wrote a check for myself using the standard Montecito Bank and Trust check to deposit to another account. Note, both name and account number are fillable. After correctly writing the account number, I was charged a NSF. Although I had the funds in the account. I stopped by in person and the clerk confirmed the account number was correct. And was not sure why that had happens. She told me she could not refund me the full NSF fee but could maybe split it with me. I really though this was some kind of joke. She explained that where you open your account originally is where the branch manager decides the amount of the fee and if they will provide a refund. All the locations operate under Montecito Bank & Trust but the policies and regulations implemented are up to the specific manager in that branch. So if you open a bank account in Santa Barbara and move to Solvang you'll have to drive or call your original branch to discuss any fees. I do not recommend you wasting your time with this bank if you're looking for good customer service, mobile deposits or a user friendly website.

I get logged out of my account in seconds if I press the wrong thing... and I am not hitting log out. The system also cannot be reached unless I am on a computer and at that point it is still glitchy. I do not recommend just because of the online banking but in all other areas they are a 10/10.

Late in 2019 and early in 2020 one of her personal helpers helped himself to a few of her checks and forged a dozen checks for about $1300. We notified Mechanics Bank as soon as we discovered the forgeries, and they quickly closed that account and opened a new one. Ed helped out by watching for incoming automatic deposits to make sure they went into the new account. Unfortunately, that's where their helpfulness ended. I immediately started trying to work with the branch manager to try to get the bank to reimburse my mother-in-law for the forged checks which they had cashed without question. $1300 is nothing to a bank, but is significant money to a widow on a fixed income. Over the next several months the manager kept giving excuses about why she couldn't even find the right form to get started. After OVER EIGHT MONTHS OF NO PROGRESS, I called Mechanics Bank customer service (this was not my first call to them) and was able to convince someone to go figure out which form was needed. She couldn't send me the form, though--it's for internal use only--so she sent it to the entire Santa Ynez branch. I sent an email to the branch manager to tell her to expect the form. The next day I had an email from the manager saying that she'd received the form and it was too late to do anything. I replied and asked her for more information and for a copy of the policy, but she couldn't even be bothered to reply. If customer service means anything to you, I would bank anywhere else but here.
