I ended up looking for an RT program and found one through Pickens (pima and concorde charge twice as much for half the education). Even though I have all my prerequisites done, CCA requires 19.5 credits to be completed with THEM before they will allow you to get your degree. I was advised to either take throw away classes or to retake the classes I have already committed the time and money for previously. This comes out to be an EXTRA 5k for classes that I will not need! This is simply a way to suck more money from students, when they are supposed to be helping mostly MINORITY students find ways to complete school. I am an adult student who "makes too much" for financial aid... what a joke. I can barely make bills but wanted to try to create a better life for myself by going back to school. I came in person to try to talk to someone to see what options I had. The financial aid person who was supposed to know all about this area told me that the most I could get was 200 dollars and that "we all need to make sacrifices sometimes" and that sacrifice would be to take out student loans. Do these people not know what is going on with people's student loans nowadays?? I do NOT want to take out loans if I can help it! It seems like this school is my only option and I am not happy with how my experience has gone at all thus far. My only hope is to just work extra hours even though school is more than full time due to their "19.5 credits" rule and struggle through the next two years. I am very disappointed in this school and highly recommend that anyone looking to go here look at ACC. Their school goes above and beyond for their students and is totally on top of their stuff. I wish THEY had an RT program!!

My fiancé and I recently took a campus tour with Nicholas, and unfortunately, our experience was…read moreextremely disappointing. When we asked a simple question about the total cost of attendance, he immediately gave us numbers and then stated, "If it's not for you, I don't want to waste your time and continue the tour." At no point did we suggest the price was "too much" for us--we were simply requesting information. Throughout the tour, he repeatedly emphasized that "if it's not doable or not for us, we don't have to continue." Instead of focusing on the school itself, This not only distracted from the purpose of the tour but also made us feel singled out and discouraged. As a Hispanic woman and with my fiancé being Black, I felt strongly that we were being racially profiled. The way we were spoken to suggested that we were being dissuaded from considering the school, rather than welcomed or persuaded to join the community. I cannot imagine a white couple being treated in the same manner. The entire interaction felt dismissive, demeaning, and disrespectful. Nicholas also mentioned that he was leaving for vacation the next day, which left the impression that maybe he was not invested in giving us a meaningful tour so he could have a mellow last work day. Overall, what should have been an exciting and informative experience was instead extremely discouraging. I left feeling disappointed and disrespected, when I had truly hoped to leave with a positive impression of the school. EDIT: I received a call back from a lady in admissions regarding my concerns. She stated she had listened to the recording and told me, "I'm sorry you feel that way, but I didn't hear anything wrong. Sometimes the price is a deterrent for people." When I explained that Nicholas had made the comment multiple times, even when I didn't have any concerns for the price she dismissed it by saying, "I Only heard him say it once," to which I responded "He said it a few times." She replied with " Okay, two times, but I personally only heard it once," which implied I was exaggerating or lying. Instead of acknowledging our experience or offering a genuine apology, she asked me to take down my review since it mentions Nicholas' name. If she had simply validated our concerns, apologized appropriately, and not pressured me to remove my review, I would have been willing to take it down. Unfortunately, the way this was handled left me feeling even more disrespected and dismissed. I would've definitely gave you guys a second chance but this overall experience made me extremely disappointed, I am no longer choosing Concorde.

But they have a policy that they said they have of "max of three fails and you out". I was taken in by the orientation BS about how jobs would be a plenty by the time we graduated. I did not get my first graphic design job until 2006. Between those three years, Westwood helped me one time directly to find something in my area of expertise. Obviously, Westwood cannot control the ebb and flow of the economy, but they can be more practical and stop trying to sell their courses to naive students with a helping of bullshit. As of now, I am enrolled in a bachelor's degree for web design and multimedia. The online sessions are convenient, but because financial aid charges you more to participate in part time classes, I chose to go full time foolishly believing the curriculum would be formulated for people with full time jobs and families. This was not the case and is my first gripe with this program: 1. Online Degree: If you're going to market the convenience of an online degree, at least respect your clients to the point of making it so the classes can be completed during a 40 hour work week. Some of us do not have time to read through 300+ pages spread between three classes with homework and discussion posts, and still get a decent grade. These were also not for core classes, which are more important than general education, which brings me to my next point... 2. Lack of Choice: I could not choose which general education classes to take. This akin to buying an album off of Itunes and then Itunes telling you which songs they're deciding to give you with the album. Westwood gets plenty of money to be able to offer students more of a choice in which classes they want to take. 3. General Education: The Gen Ed classes available from this program are horrendous. If I'm taking a bachelor's degree program, I know what I want to focus on, but classes like "science fiction", "statistics" and "public speaking" do not help me in my development of my graphic and web design skill sets, and the fact that these classes include workloads that match or outdo the core classes lead sme to believe Westwood is stuffing their programs with unnecessary classes in order to charge students more money. 4. Curriculum: The curriculum recently changed, however, I have no idea if they've updated their outdated methods of teaching. For example, CMS platforms like drupal, wordpress and joomla are quickly becoming key elements for a lot of businesses, yet none of my core classes taught any aspect of these besides a discussion of what is the best CMS to use for a client. Even considering the fact that these are built upon languages such as PHP, these classes do not teach students how to use these languages. In conclusion, I went into the program thinking I would learn something. I learned most from my Digital Photography class and maybe a few others, yet everything else felt like a waste of time and money. So for the TL;DR version: Don't do the Web Design and Multimedia program, find a community college and take classes that don't waste your time and money like Westwood does.

My husband went there and graduated. He was laid off almost 2 years ago. Westwood says they will help you find jobs. He asked for their help and no help was offered.

After realizing how close the two campuses really were, I decided to stick it out and see how a split semester would go. You can def tell that this used to be a millitary base. It just still has the feel. I love the concept though of it being repurposed as it has been. They went through quite a bit of updating throughout the buildings. My class this semester has been in the Center for Stimulation, which to my understanding, is where most of the social science classes are held. My experience with my instructors at Community College of Aurora has been great; both online and in person. I would completely recommend this college to anyone looking for an alternative to a more traditional and expensive collegiate career. I do have a hard time finding my way around this campus. I think it's due to the many seperate buildings. An example being the Learning Resource Center the first time I went searching for it. The cafeteria area is pretty small. Luckily there are quite a few benches and places to take advantage of the school's wifi outside of these areas. I have yet to locate/see if they have a library, a bookstore, or a quiet study. I def won't hesitate about taking a class here while I finish up my time at Community College of Aurora. **Pro Tip: The CCA mobile app is very helpful in finding classroom locations amongst the various buildings!

The one positive experience I had was with Reem in the disability program, as well as one of my instructors, who were both supportive and respectful. However, overall, I did not feel supported especially in my online courses, where there was little to no check-in or guidance on how I was doing. Because of this experience, I have decided to transfer. When I asked about transferring, that was the only time I felt the staff were willing and helpful. Still, I am leaving feeling discouraged. It has made me question whether pursuing a degree at my age is the right path for me.
