While Brian did come out to sand out all the bubbles, it actually made things worse as I have areas of raw wood now. I've had to hire another contractor and will weigh my options as far as recovering compensation for a job that wasn't done right.

Brian told us he currently did not have the money, would be traveling in Europe for several weeks, but would "guarantee to pay at latest by June 5th." We will update this review accordingly. ORIGINAL REVIEW (April 2026): Using Brian's Painting was a very disappointing and costly experience that left us with an unfinished home and significant financial loss. We hired Brian for a $10,000 exterior painting project. After collecting $6,000, he completed only about 10% of the work, then abandoned the project and stopped communicating. Brian requested a 40% deposit ($4,000) and later an additional 20% ($2,000) after a short prep stage that took about eight hours. After receiving the $6,000, he returned only twice for brief visits over several weeks, then dropped the job, leaving the house unfinished. (See attached photos.) We attempted to resolve the matter in good faith. We agreed he could keep the $2,000 even though several licensed painters we consulted estimated that only about 10% ($1,000) of the work had been completed by Brian. He eventually agreed to refund the $4,000 deposit, but after multiple deadline extensions has only returned $1,300 and has now stopped communicating altogether. We are now pursuing recovery through court and filing a complaint with the Regulated Industries Complaints Office (RICO), which takes enforcement action against unlicensed contractors operating illegally in Hawaii. We also had prior issues with a smaller job he completed in 2023, including use of lower-grade paint than what we paid for and paint splatter left on appliances. Despite this, we gave him another opportunity when he repeatedly requested the exterior project. We greatly regret that decision now. Bottom line: We strongly recommend homeowners to look elsewhere.

Bryson knows what he's doing and has a solution for everything that was bad with our worn down exterior. We let the exterior paint deteriorate for too long, and now the house looks brand new. Prep work needed a lot, and Bryson was meticulous when prepping every surface including the gutters, overhangs, window sills, and worn areas requiring extensive work. Pressure wash, caulk, fill, and sand. Then some repeated to make things look new again. He's genuine and does what he says he's going to do. No skimping. He uses quality Sherwin Williams paint that is expected to last. Paint is sprayed, rolled, and brushed and looks flawless. Man....such a difference! And of course, his estimate came in at around the mid-range compared to others. Completely worth the money. Hire B&B! They also painted the entire interior of our house a year ago which prior to our moving in, was a rental property. Now it's ready for a photo shoot! Beautiful work and everything looks incredibly new. B&B goes the extra mile to make you happy. They genuinely care about their work. We are very happy campers and you will be too. They're all about service and satisfied clients. I'm recommending them to all my neighbors, friends, and family. Get on their list!

I was fortunate that he was able to perform the interior painting himself. His is very knowledgeable about painting and takes pride in his workmanship. These guys fixed…read moremy walls up so well, were so easy to work with, and did everything I needed at a very reasonable price! I highly recommend Mike and his team for your wall repairs! I uploaded a few before and after photos, of two of my walls but they worked on several more walls! My CMU block walls and drywall had about 50+ holes, a bunch of which were the size of my index finger, many areas of ripped drywall paper, and numerous outlet-sized drywall cutouts that I wanted patched as if they never existed. Mike came over himself, looked at the job, and gave me a price on the spot. A few weeks later he sent John over to do the work. I was on a pretty tight schedule with an upcoming move and Mike really worked around my schedule as best as he could! John was so kind and efficient, and he took care of every single hole and cut out in under 2 hours and got the walls paint ready for me (I painted the walls the following day). I was expecting the work to cost $1,500 plus easily but Mike's did it for under $600 and the quality is on point! I was really worried about the outlet sized cutouts I made for running wires, but John patched them like it was no big deal and that was such a relief! They did such a good job!!! 10/10 highly recommend

My apartment had recently suffered multiple unidentified leaks this past year that has been a…read morenightmare to navigate. I first messaged Mike and other candidates in 2025 when I was gathering quotes for an insurance claim that ultimately got denied. It was very clear that Mike and the team have great workmanship from the photos - this is coming from someone who's seen great drywall work and extremely poor work that I could do better myself. I could tell right off the bat that these were the guys I wanted to work with. The proof was in the "mudding" as I changed scope to account for materials, budget, level 4-5 finish, and paint finish quality. Having to pay out of pocket for an expense I anticipated someone else to cover was a bit of a concern for my wallet. Mike was patient with me and we worked out a price we could agree on by removing items from the scope that might still been in good condition and limiting the amount of work that needed to be done on a bump-out wall next to my shower. John texted me soon after we agreed to move forward and scheduled the work for the following week. He also suggested a change in material (DensShield) from what I had originally requested (blueboard) and I am so grateful to have skilled/experienced teammates to work with that really know what they're doing. Day 1 was demolition, hanging, and mudding. John was finished and out before lunch and I could already tell that the quality of work was spectacular. You couldn't even tell the ceiling was repaired because it was blended in perfectly with the surrounding area. The bump-out wall was looking way better than it was even prior to the water damage. We left the fan on throughout the day and overnight to let the hot mud dry out. Day 2 was sanding, priming, and painting. Fortunately, I purchased and stored paint that was specific to my bathroom from a previous repair and had it at the ready this time around as well. Honestly, when I first discovered the leak, I originally planned to fix it myself so I also had a brand new container of primer. I'm pretty satisfied with the work, especially with the DensShield suggestion and installation in both affected areas to account for future leaks. I didn't know such product existed and the workmanship mudding a material such as DensShield and it essentially coming out nearly flawless is pretty impressive. Overall, I would give Mike's team a solid 9/10. Prompt responses, flexibility in materials/scope, and great quality of work. The quote, as some have mentioned is on the higher side compared to other candidates I'd spoken with, but I learned the last time that you get what you pay for. Could I have gotten it cheaper? 100%. Would it have come out as good? Not sure. The last guy I hired at maybe half the price got the job done, but clearly not done well and that's what got me in this predicament, SO... don't cheap out if you can help it - especially for a bathroom or high-moisture/high-risk area. I'm certain I'll be working with Mike and the team in the future and there are no regrets here as compared to my last drywall adventure. Thank you Mike & John for your patience and hard work.

Roger was a great asset, he had recommended a nice off white color and discussed their process, to include all holes filled, walls prepped and primer, the works. We agreed and they came on Saturday on time, as scheduled (a few minutes early) and immediately got started. We came by later in the afternoon and they (Roger and Eddie) were well underway, excellent. We were called about 3pm on Sunday all completed! Perfect color, perfect job top to bottom, they moved the washer and dryer out and put everything back the way it was, actually they even checked out the hoses and such. The bottom line after all said and done? The polite, prompt, and accurate customer service, the professionalism, and the quality of work, the fact they took extra steps not even within the scope, you could only dream of ALL other contractors would give the same. To Jeff, Roger, and Eddie, thank you very much. Awesomeness all around, (thank you as well Tricia for the prompt correspondence).

I was also under time constraints to get the job done quickly to qualify for my new homeowner's insurance policy. Roger came out and did a thorough inspection of the home and explained how the process would go and answered all of my questions about points of concern I had around the house, and made me feel very comfortable with the project. Tricia and Jeff were able to answer any additional queries I had by phone or email in a timely manner. Luckily, due to my need to have the job done asap, Jeff said he'd be able to fit me in just a month later. There was a slight delay to starting the job at my house due to weather, but Tricia kept me up to date along the way and it wasn't long before Roger and his crew were showing up to get the job underway. Roger and his paint crew were on site early every day, and worked tirelessly from 7:00-3:00 nonstop for 7 days. I left drinks for them in a cooler but I really don't know if these guys took a break, they just busted butt all day long. On the first day they pressure washed the whole house to remove dirt and debris. Over the course of the next four days they slaved away getting the home ready for a new finish. The amount of prep work my house needed was overwhelming and they cut no corners in removing the old tired paint and doing minor repairs to weather damaged surfaces here and there until they had a bare smooth canvas to work with. After the whole house was primed it took another two days to lay two coats of Sherwin Williams Duration down on the whole house and finish the trim work, and the end result is nothing short of amazing. My nearly 50 year old home looks brand new. The amount of pride Roger and his crew take in their work showed through in the finished product and its perfection all around. They always showed up early and worked right til the end, and left every day having cleaned up and put things away. They were always happy and friendly. Before the job was completed Roger made sure I was perfectly happy with everything and that they left me 100% satisfied. I can say with certainty that hiring Platinum Painting Service for this project was money well spent, and I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking to have someone repaint their home.
