In late September, I stayed at AC Aitana on a business trip for five days and four nights. Here are…read moresome notes throughout my stay:
* My room was located on the first floor, where the walls appear to be super thin. From 7:00 AM, I was repeatedly woken by loud noises: people stomping in the hall, people in the adjacent room flushing their toilet, maids talking and slamming doors. Because I worked late, it was hard to get more than four or five hours of sleep each night, even with earplugs.
* The gym is located underground and has neither windows nor attendees. It was very hot and lacked proper air ventilation. The walls were thin and I could clearly hear the dialogue of a private business conference next door.
* My room card stopped working four times in one single day. I was forced to go back to the front desk and get it re-magnetized every time. This problem stopped when I finally asked to get a new card.
* Upon check out, I asked an attendee at the front desk to email my invoice to me. The attendee verified that the invoice was sent. 4 days later, I checked my email and did not find the invoice. Since Aitana doesn't list their email address anywhere, I was forced to call the hotel (even though I was already back in the states) and ask for my invoice again.
* I dined at the breakfast buffet twice throughout my stay. Both times, I asked to charge the breakfast to my personal Visa, not to my room. 4 days later, I checked my Visa statement and found only one charge for breakfast. I called the hotel again and they adamantly stated that they didn't have my personal Visa on record, which is impossible since the breakfast appeared on my statement. Since the hotel still hasn't sent me the invoice for my trip, I can't verify where the 2nd breakfast was charged.
* My TV (in the superior room) almost exclusively accessed Spanish channels. There were only two English channels available; think C-SPAN or the Weather Channel. I didn't mind it because I spent most of my time at work, but if I were a kid on vacation, it would've sucked.
It makes me sad to post this review because I really enjoy most hotels in the Marriott chain.
