Instead, he encouraged me to rest when I needed to, keep showing up, and trust the process. Now I'm consistently completing one-hour workouts three days a week! When I broke my ankle this summer, Devon created a modified routine that helped me safely ease back into working out. He knows when to push me, but he also understands my limits. For anyone who feels nervous, intimidated, or afraid to step into a gym, I highly recommend Devon. He creates a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you can build confidence and work toward your goals. I've come a long way from tapping out at 30 minutes--and I'm excited to see how much further I can go!

I was extremely nervous about getting started at the gym and honestly didn't know what I was doing, but Devon was incredibly patient, understanding, and encouraging. What stood out to me most was how **flexible and genuinely supportive** he was. When life got busy and I needed time to adjust to a new job and schedule, he never made me feel pressured or guilty. Instead, he told me to take my time, make sure everything worked with my life, and reassured me that he was there to help whenever I was ready. That meant so much to me. He even offered to work with me and my son **at no cost just to help us get started**, which really showed me that he genuinely cares about helping people live healthier lives and isn't just focused on making a sale. He also checked in with me and made sure I knew I could reach out if I needed help. As someone who was very nervous about stepping into a gym, having a trainer who is **patient, kind, encouraging, flexible, and nonjudgmental** makes all the difference. Devon has created an environment where I feel comfortable asking questions and learning at my own pace. **If you're nervous about starting your fitness journey or just don't know where to begin, I highly recommend Devon. He truly meets you where you are and makes you feel supported every step of the way.**

I never felt any less than the other members there that had been doing CrossFit for years. The gym is family-friendly and the members are not only kind but inspirational as well. The machinery is all clean and well maintained. I also appreciated the smaller tight-knit atmosphere. I would highly recommend this gym to beginners or seasoned CrossFiters!

Being someone who struggled for over 15 years with chronic back pain and fatigue, to my surprise these classes have truly been a life saver. While researching on line trying to find a personal trainer that specializes in working with back problems I came across a journal sentinel article about this gym. I went in knowing nothing or ever even heard of cross fit. I told them about my back problems and my prior surgeries. I started out real slow, barely enough strength to do a girl push up. They spent a lot of time explaining the exercises, how to alter them in regards to my fitness level making sure I do them correctly and use proper form. I mostly work with Matt, who has helped me tremendously. Slowly I've been gaining more and more strength and endurance I didn't know I was capable of. Everyone that works out there is so super supportive and I actually look forward to getting exercise! The biggest part of all this....My back pain and the pain down my leg is GONE, like it was never there. I am so thankful to have found this place!!!

I can do things I never could before and it makes me feel proud. Karah is a really skilled trainer and always gives us a well rounded, full body workout that keeps ramping up as our athletic ability does. Each week, when I walk in the door after my work out, my husband asks, "How was work out?" The reply is simple, "It was hard! But GOOD!" I think that just about sums it all up, don't you? I've also taken classes offered by Nick, and every single time I go, he drops some serious knowledge about strength, form, posture, the body, etc. A few months ago, SH moved to a new location (closer to my house! bonus!) and I really like it. It's a big open space with squishy floors and lots of natural light. Every once in a while, SH offers other cool events like guided meditations on nights with full moons and walks by the lake. There are lots of things to try out here and I think every body should check it out. The prices are reasonable and well worth it. Overall, SH is such a positive and welcoming place!

It's just a room with some weird ropes and big medicine balls and strange props? Some girl's going to tell me what to do and it's all circuits or whatever? What is this? What it is is awesome, my friends. One class in and already I'm hooked, and I'm sure I'll be returning with Ellie and the crew week after week on Monday nights. This... THIS... is just what I need to take my regiment to the next level. I mean, sure... I play derby, and I go to the gym and do my requisite half hour of cardio and core work 2-3 times a week, but this is a real challenge. This is how I'm going to TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL. Plyometrics, weight training, innovative cardio exercises... our class does it all. And it's not all "personal trainer screaming at you to keep going, or judging you for not having 7% body fat," either. It's encouraging and awesome and the vibe is really a good one. I dig. Worth noting is their group exercise classes held on the regular vary from yoga to intense "like the movie 300" workouts, so check their website and see what may appeal to you, and what classes are offered when and how much they run. (Not terribly expensive, and you can pay per class or buy packages.) Yay for Superb Health! I look forward to seeing where your weird plushy medicine balls and rope-arm-workout thing will put me in a few weeks' time.

Previous CrossFit experiences had left me with the impression that CrossFit is hard to break into and that the culture could be overbearing. None of that is true for Groundworks! I genuinely enjoyed going to Groundworks from Day #1 for a number of reasons: - Coaches take their time to thoroughly explain technique, workouts, scaling. They take your individual fitness level as well as potential injuries into account to provide dedicated instructions. Lots of attention given to athletes who are new to CrossFit. Nothing was intimidating. - Athletes span across all genders, backgrounds, ages and fitness levels. Everyone fits in, nobody is judged. - Athletes are very welcoming and there's simply a pleasant atmosphere, making you feel comfortable from the get-go. For those who desire there are also opportunities to participate in a number of fun social WoDs... - Facilities are great and coaches put a focus on updated equipment. Location is also a plus as the box is located in a low-traffic area so you can do your WoD outside if weather permits. Also a plus for longer runs. In summary: highly recommend CrossFit Groundworks - Terri & the team are probably one of the best CrossFit experiences you'll ever have.
