Situated on the left hand side of the ground floor atrium (past the escalators) of the spanking new South Glasgow University Hospital (still getting used to that new name!) Souped Up & Juiced is the latest cafe to open up here and I can almost hear the cries of 'YAS!' ring throughout the whole of the SGUH grounds by fellow lovers of coffee, sweet treats and sandwiches. With only the Aroma Cafe as competition (so far) SU&J really are MILES ahead of the game ~ you only have to look at the place to see how much better they are. Run by the same folk that gave us the Deco cafes, SU&J is their newest (and may I say, funkiest) venture. I loved Deco so it was really no surprise I was going to love this place too. These gals and guys know their shiz. I visited about 10:50am & there was a substantial queue already but unlike in Aroma where you seem to wait an age before you're even acknowledged here it was so quick yet with just the right amount of time to let you peruse the menus. I was impressed. All staff were friendly and helpful (not in a forced way either) and the queue moved very swiftly indeed. Great start, especially considering this was their 1st day of opening. What do they serve? Well, there's sandwiches/wraps/paninis, savoury snacks, bottled/canned drinks (San Pellegrino, yas!), delicious sounding soups (Chickpea & Spinach Dahl, NYC Chicken Noodle & Mexican Chilli Chicken to name a few), fresh pressed juices & smoothies (to which you can add 'Booster Shots' of wheatgrass & other such healthlicious goodies), Froyo, Breakfast pots (Porridge, Museli & Granola), coffees (hot & iced) and yummy yummy sweet delights such as their epic Empire Biscuits, pastries and muffins too. I think that's everything?! I had a soya (yes, they serve soya milk ~ bonus) flat white and Empire Biscuit and the coffee was REALLY good; very well made, nice & strong yet also nice creamy foamed soya milk. Service was impeccable and I really like their vast menu/choice and the look of the place. Only downside is they don't have their own seating but I'm guessing that's not their fault...however there are seats & tables not far away also on the ground floor of the atrium and also more upstairs too. Price wise Smoothis start from £3.15, fresh juices from £2.95 and their coffees average at about £1.90 for a medium size. Not bad. They also have plenty of Meal Deals & offers on which saves a bit of your hard earned dollah. Whether you're visiting, a patient or staff here this place is a wee haven offering up yummy eats & tasty drinks to heal you (maybe). Souped Up & Juiced ~ I shall visit you again, soon! So that's what I did (it was also bloody freezing!). I like the look of this cafe and that it's somewhere I hadn't heard of before I saw it appear in the hospital. It's in the main building, near the patient check-in machines and has an appealing frontage. At 9am it was pretty quiet and I went over to check out the soup options. I have to say from the outset the staff member working was not especially friendly, kind of gesturing towards the boards of soup at the back and looking a bit miffed that I asked about them at all. Maybe she's not a morning person but perhaps she could have been a smidgeon chirpier. They also have 8 different soups on the go which - for a new customer - is pretty surprising as most places will offer 2 maximum. Anyway. I asked for a medium pea and ham to which she told me it hadn't been warmed to the correct temperature yet (she was checking the vats with a thermometer) and that she would need to microwave it for me. Ok, sure. For a medium soup and some bread it came to £2.95 and was packaged in a takeaway cup. The soup was awesome - one of the best pea and ham soups I can remember ever having (except for my Mum's soup, of course). So that's why this review still hits the 3-star mark even though the customer service left much to be desired. Would I go back here? Probably yes, and hopefully I can give them an upgrade next time.

Had a good variety of dishes from lighter salads to burgers and pizzas. All the macros are listed so great way to help make a choice if watching daily calories and macros. We both opted for the chipotle chicken salad and it was so tasty!! Was surprisingly filling but not too heavy that felt majorly stuffed afterwards. Salad had a delicious mango dressing and was very fresh. We also had a side of sweet potato wedges which were so tasty. Definitely going to come back here and try all the other amazing dishes. First impressions Expensive for what you get fruit, topped of with apple juice and lots of ice served in a polystyrene take away cup that takes nearly a thousand years to break down. Menu You can choose pressed fruit that is served in shot glasses and various types of smoothies they where nice enough but nothing out of this world. Prices Quite expensive for what you get l would have thought that this company would have tried to source paper cups than polystyrene especially with the prices that they charge.

I asked if I could pay on a card (not an unreasonable request, you'd think) and was met with a firm no and a display of grumpiness. So I delved deep into my handbag and gathered enough pennies together to order a smoothie anyway. A little overpriced, perhaps, it cost me around £3 for a regular sized smoothie. (Which perhaps wouldn't have bothered me quite so much if they had been friendlier!) Another slight gripe that I had was that they put my expensive smoothie into a quite nasty cheap polystyrene cup. Call me particular - but I was expecting one of the clear plastic traditional smoothie cups with a dome on top. No such luck! The smoothie was really tasty though, and kept me very happy all the way home on the subway.

It is really refreshing, and gives me a wee pick up after a hard weekend!! Today I tried Veggie Vibe - Beetroot, carrot and cucumber. This was a gorgeous purple colour, sweet, fresh and restorative. It is a take away only shop, with no seating. However it is in the middle of St Enochs centre, so there is plenty of seating available throughout. Or if the sun is shinning (wishful thinking) you can pop out side to the square and do a bit of people watching and whilst sipping on your fruity delight!

We were standing waiting to order and whilst it's good to have time to choose, we realised there were a lot of people standing around with not much happening. One member of staff was on whilst a shopping trolley full of boxes of fruit and milk was sitting at the front of the store. Soon it was obvious that the sole staff member was making drinks for all the people standing by the side as another member of staff came and went a few times. We eventually ordered and the other member of staff returned and started unpacking the stock, cutting it up (not sure why they didn't get the milk into a chiller ASAP?) as the first member of staff took another order and then proceeded to clean the blenders from the earlier orders. After a while, she started blending several drinks in what did not appear to be in any particular order. The staff did not appear to be happy working in the place and there was little customer interaction, not a very positive experience. I am unsure why this place is not run as efficiently as it used to be. They used to take the order, make the drinks and wash everything before taking the next order, everything was methodical, clean and efficient. I don't remember things being this disorganised . On a positive, the drinks themselves were tasty, nothing to complain about there.
