Mario himself sets the tone: welcoming, friendly, and genuinely happy you're there. I had the oysters and the red snapper, and both were absolutely delicious -- fresh, perfectly prepared, and clearly made with pride. The vibe is relaxed, fun, and full of life. Come hungry, stay awhile, and don't be surprised if you leave smiling and already planning your next visit. This place is a gem.

P.S. make sure you have pesos as they don't take credit card! Right when we walked in, Mario was super welcoming and accommodating. We wanted to get a whole fried fish and were told that they usually have sea bass or red snapper but the sea bass was reserved for later. We got the sea bass and then an octopus tostada to share as an app. The octopus tostada came out quickly and was a delicious and fresh way to start the meal. We waited about 20 min for the fish to come and it was definitely worth the wait. The red snapper was plenty for us to share and the meat was perfectly tender with crispy skin and a ton of fried garlic. It was served with coconut rice (slightly sweet) and salad which rounded out the meal. The best part of our experience just definitely how kind Mario was. My boyfriend wanted orange juice but we heard they didn't have it but halfway through the meal, Mario bought orange juice to the store and gave us a complimentary glass. As we were walking out, we saw a couple of people drinking a green juice and asked what it was and Mario gave us a glass to taste. It was cucumber water and so so good. Definitely recommend you try it if you come!

Walk right into the lobby and the front desk will radio up to announce your arrival (or figure out if there's space up there for you). Then walk up a couple flights of stairs to the open air rooftop terrace. They have menus in both English and Spanish, both paper and QR. They will set you up with the wifi password if you ask. A breakfast set comes with fruit, a baby pancake, coffee and juice, and your choice of entree. My partner had pork chilaquiles in red sauce - it was really tasty; if you like meat, that's an option to try. I had the tortilla espanola with goat cheese and caramelized onion; this is a Spanish-style potato and egg omelette/casserole. It was downright dang amazing! It was a hefty portion and I had them pack my leftover for me to take to the airport afterwards because no way was I wasting a crumb of that!!! The with a side salad that came with it was an after thought. Our waiter and his colleague were good and attentive. Really enjoyable breakfast. P.S. the leftovers were eaten at the BJX airport with plastic forks from airport burger place. I was still drooling over it at the airport. If you come for breakfast, definitely try the tortilla espanola - queso de cabra y cebollas caramelizada!

This review is about La Mariskeña at Plaza Mayor---…read more La Mariskeña operates on an entirely different level. First, the location. After doing some shopping at the mall, the restaurant is just one minute away--convenient, accessible, and perfect for a spontaneous meal. Even without a reservation, we were seated immediately. The view from inside the restaurant is impressive and adds so much to the experience. Second, the staff. The service is exceptional. The team is attentive, fast, kind, and truly knowledgeable about their menu. Wanting to try something new, I ordered a shrimp cocktail I had never tasted before, La Fiera. After giving it two or three tries, I realized it wasn't for me. I asked our waiter if I could change my order, and he kindly checked with the manager. They happily agreed. Moments later, the manager, Paco--a very likable and friendly man--introduced himself, cleared our table, and even prepared our carajillos. Emiliano, our waiter, was outstanding from start to finish. Third, the food. It is simply out of this world. If it fits within the word "seafood," they probably have it here. We ordered the seafood soup, a traditional shrimp cocktail, and both octopus and fried shrimp. Every dish was superb. A quick warning: their salsas are extremely hot--delicious, but proceed with caution! I highly recommend La Mariskeña and fully intend to visit again in the future.
