San Miguel's Cumpanio makes its first incursion into Querétaro, broadening the brand that will…read moresurely see more outposts in this city and the country in the near future. The French-and-Mediterranean inspired restaurant, who also owns Panio, a French-inspired bakery, is now looking to share its pastries and food with a wider audience, and so far the public has responded. Although the dining area is small, people flock to the cozy restaurant for the food and the pastries but mostly the pastries. The interior is a beautiful modernist design, contrasted by the rustic French pastries that make their way from the baking area to the dining room. Dinner is also quaint and flavorful and and a good option for a quiet glass of wine. Even though breakfast has a sweet start, the food might still be a bit behind of the quality of pastries. The menu offers a nice variety of options, but the dishes might suffer from being too simple and minimalist with not a lot of flavor bursting through the small-ish portions. The place is still packed, though, maybe because of the newness or the coziness, but it is looking more and more like a place where the socialite femmes gather for breakfast and gossip. Querétaro welcomes another option for breakfast and pastries and another go to spot for sweets in this remote part of town.

Due to the holiday and the latter hour, a lot of restaurants were shutting down. Saw a recommendation on here for this place and made a call. They were closing in less than an hour but told be to bring my party in. We were immediately sat . Our server Boni attended us and made great recommendations. I'll post some pages form the menu because the choices were vast.and adventurous. If you're in town, please check it out. Right by the town square. The staff was wonderful, warm and welcoming. Great attentive service. Didn't have room for dessert and they also had a breakfast menu.

We started with complimentary fresh salsas and a savory cheesy bite. Very nice! One of the salsas had a real spicy kick, which I enjoyed. Also split and shared: - Sopa de Lima, a regional chicken and lime soup. Loved this! It was a light, brothy dish, and felt very nourishing. Delicious. Also tried adding some of the fresh salsas (as suggested). - Enchiladas Mole Negro. I'm glad I tried this one! Made me feel like I've never actually had authentic mole in my life. This was really rich, with complex flavor. Was sweet as well, and savory. - Tacos Cochinita Pibil. Yummy! Loved this with the salsas as well. Which, by the way, were refilled! A friend got the grasshopper appetizer as well which turned out to be a pretty sizeable plate full. So we all got to try that as well! Not bad not bad. Not quite what I was expecting, but I was happy to try it! (I thought they'd be salty and crunchy; actually they were softer and tasted a bit tea like. Leisurely and relaxed dining. Nice drinks too. So many agua Fresca options! I got a guava lime one.
