I know, the "Custom" in the name makes you think I have a fancy car. But I don't. Rather, it's pretty old, covered with stickers, and parts are wearing out at an alarming rate. I was stopped at a light last week and thought, "Wow, that car next to me sure is loud." Then the car turned, and I was on the street alone. The noise remained. Turns out, I needed a flex pipe - fumes were coming into the car, and it sounded like I was driving a Harley (which my son thought was cool). Other than insane volume and effluvia, the car was perfectly drivable, so I have been dragging my feet on the repair: I figured it would cost a million dollars and take a week or two to fix, and I really don't want to figure out NJ Transit this time of year to get to work. I called this morning to see if I could get in on Saturday, and the guy who answered the phone was agreeable. I decided to swing by the shop on my way home today - partially to make sure it was the flex pipe, and they had the part, and to find out how long the repair would take on Saturday - I've been worried about the double whammy of missing work for an expensive repair. Chris said they could look at it now, and he could answer my questions in a few minutes. He got it up on the lift, popped the hood, and said, "I can fix this now, 45 minutes, top. $175." It took them less than 20 minutes, and while I would have rather spent the money on something else, I'm pretty happy right now. Anyway, I totally recommend this place if you need work done on your car.

Always a quality job. Fair prices. Unfortunately the guy that works for them is a Mets fan.

This is solely based on communication... there is none. I tried numerous times calling to try to…read moreset up an appointment and all I got was an answering machine to which I finally left my info but still nothing. I moved onto Marlton transmissions...

I inspected some parts of the transmission to determine they did nothing to open it up or diagnose the problem, other than scanning trouble codes. In search of a second opinion, I called Cottman and the service manager Scott happily spent 20 minutes on the phone with me asking questions to give me a more accurate picture of what the problem might be, and what the costs could be. A few weeks later I visited the shop on my way home from work (20 minutes before they closed) and Scott took the time to take a 30-minute test drive, plug in the diagnostic, and troubleshoot the matter. He said that there was a much smaller issue related to the transmission fluid temperature and said he could get the work done in under a day. I arranged for an appointment a few days later. Scott and Beth were happy to arrange drop-off/pick-up service to my office a few miles away. I couldn't be happier with their honesty, efficiency, and experience. In this day and age, even though I'm mechanically inclined, it's tough to find a skilled mechanic you can trust. I will confidently refer my friends, family, and professional contacts to Cottman knowing they will be in good hands with Beth and Scott at the helm.
