We ended up switching vets in April after an unrelated, yet also extremely negative, experience at Black Creek. Upon my GSD's first exam at the new vet on August 10, we had to schedule oral surgery. On August 18, THE NEW VET HAD TO EXTRACT 15 TEETH due to the level of decay, lesions, and bone loss that Dr. Hamblin COMPLETELY missed. I literally cried on the phone post-surgery with the new vet, as I could not comprehend how that level of tooth decay was missed in not only ONE , but TWO yearly "well checks", by Dr. Hamblin. Save yourself the heartache and do not confuse a pleasant bedside manner with a vet so egregious that she overlooked a condition this significant entirely. TWICE.

I called this morning to make an appointment and the woman who answered was extremely unprofessional.The very first greeting was harsh and rude, and when I asked her to clarify her question due to a bad phone connection, she spoke aggressively and made her annoyance known. I hung up after expressing to her it was obvious she was having a rough morning (it was 9am) and immediately called the Pulaski location to make an appointment. The receptionist was friendly, attentive and thorough while explaining the new regulations. I am extremely happy with the care my animals have received through North Country but will now be driving the extra miles to Pulaski as it is not worth the discomfort dealing with the front desk at the Oswego location.

It was discovered that my 12 year old cat Pippin had a belly full of cancer. They did everything they could to prop him up to try to give me a few more days with him. When it came time to say good bye, as difficult as the entire process was, they treated it as a very solemn occasion, ushering us into a room as soon as we entered the door. They're on point when it comes to wellness as well. Staff are knowledgeable (I was there and heard one on the phone with an owner whose dog went into heat for the 1st time and needed to be talked off the ledge) and compassionate. I don't expect to be a pet owner for a number of years, but thank you, Dr. Alina, for being SO kind and gracious to Pippin as well as myself. I'm happy for you that you're moving on. Dr. Fitzpatrick and the rest of the staff are caring and knowledgeable. We have always been able to get in relatively quickly, especially if there is an emergency. They have gone out of their way to help us, once staying open a couple minutes past their closing time for us, and also helped save us money on medications by searching their donation medications when we've had meds prescribed. Their prices are reasonable, especially for vet care which seems to be ridiculously expensive these days, and they have helped us make decisions that have both saved us money & time when it came to our dogs care. Our dogs are our family and we feel comfortable having them in Beaver Lake's care.

She is sensitive to prescription vet diets but will tolerate a non-prescription urinary tract diet we give her: when she can eat. Our family brought her to several vets who made various efforts to help her, such as a prescription stomach medicine that helps with nausea and stimulates appetite, to no avail. Because, our fur-baby is also sensitive to certain traditional meds and methods. Dr. Cortes immediately pinpointed what Jemima needed, a series of injections to be repeated periodically as needed. Her appetite is terrific afterward, and it has lasted sometimes for 4 months. In addition: this is a human being who loves animals. Animals are his life. He lives, breathes and interacts with them as though they were his own. They are. His knowledge is matched with his keen instincts and skilled decision-making. I highly recommend him, yes, even to people who may have to travel some extra miles to get to him. Well worth the effort.
