Not exactly "fresh, fresh produce, however I find most everything can be stored away for at least a week. Exceptionally clean and produce arrangement is "always" aesthetically to the eye. Always several a variety of apples, and citrus produce to choose from and the majority of supermarket consumables. Service personnel are friendly, helpful yet professional. I've shopped here for years and most always found not just very good discounts but occasionally super good discounts pending on large items that they acquire and pass the savings on to the consumer. I have driven by here so many times and had never stop till now...boy have I been missing out. They have so many fresh fruits and vegetables I just can't believe I had never stop here. They have so many deals compared to a grocery store. We went into Fruit King on Saturday while we were in Corpus to eat at Chacho's before they closed..spent $30 in produce..only the watermelon was good. Cucumbers were bitter. Cabbage was rotten inside.. red yellow and orange peppers were also rotten inside..avocados were like rubber..couldn't soften them..not sure what's going on but money is too tight to waste on cheaper produce that's no good. Awesome family owned market to buy high quality produce (fruits and veggies) for a cheap price! They receive shipments everyday so there are different options daily. The gentleman behind the counter was really friendly and excited to answer any questions I had. Tortillas, chiles, herbs, bottled sodas/drinks, oaxaca cheese, local honey, eggs, and more are sold here also! Prices vary but the day I went I bought: 2 Papayas for $3 4 containers of Blackberries for $2 2 boxes of Mangoes for $5 2 bags of Green Beans for $2 2 bundles of Green Onions with Bulbs for $1.50 They have a great variety and I am so glad I found my new go to produce shop!! As with other states, Texas was no other exception as the fruits and vegetable are extremely high. My wife decided to do a search and found fruit king. I believe it's locally owned and operated it small but had everything and more that my wife and I wanted. The cashier was friendly and helpful. read more

You never know what bargains you will discover. Last Friday it was 2 cases of Heirloom Tomatoes for $5. The fill up a produce bag for $2 is awesome. There are two locations. It's best to get cases and share the goodness with your neighbors. read more

If you are looking for less than perfect produce this is the place to go to! You have all sorts of deals on all sorts of fresh produce. All signs are handwritten on what is being offered as well as produce is laid out nicely and in an organized manner. Each aisle is 1 person walk thru only (with a cart) but if you are patient enough you will find the fruits and veggies you want to take home with you soon enough! Be sure to check out the racks of local spices, chia seeds, and the cooler in the front near the register as they have eggs, milk, mexican cheeses, and sodas. Check out takes card or cash so don't worry about a thing. Just show up and expect to walk out with a nice big bag of fruit without breaking the bank. We walked out with 15 pears, 3 big pineapples, a bag of fuji apples, a short bag of chia seeds, and 4 peaches for less than $8. read more

I have purchased a melon that was bad and called and they did give me credit on my next trip. It is a place that you never know what is going to be there. I have gotten such good buys and good fruits and vegetables, and I have come home with nothing because it was all over ripe. There are fruit flies there, yes. It is what it is, you never know, but can get good buys. I stop when I go to town, which is unfortunately is not that often. I wish they would open another in the Calallen area. I am a disabled U.S. veteran who has to drive over one hour just to patronize this business. I purchased a watermelon there a few days ago intending on having it on Wednesday evening. To my surprise, the melon was spoiled. I immediately called the Ayers street location where I spoke with Samantha. All I really wanted was a credit voucher to exchange the melon since it was the the only one left that day and also due to the fact that I am not spending $35 in gas to exchange a melon. They could have just given me a verbal approval to write on the receipt that I reported in and given me an exchange for another melon or trade for something else of equal value on my next trip to Corpus Christi. Samantha replied that their policy was that they only had 24 hours on any sale. Having paid $3.00 for this melon, I tried to reason with her as $3.00 will surely cost them more in this review than just accepting the fact that produce does spoil from time to time. I'm sure I have spent in excess of $200 there in all, but with a policy like this, I hope everyone knows in advance what they will hear if they try to take spoiled produce back there. H.E.B. and Wal-mart are my heroes because they would have bent over backwards to give me a new melon immediately. After trying to reason with the clerk, I decided that they really don't need my business anymore...... Let this be a good lesson that they can learn from....I could easily understand if I no longer had my receipt. Samantha told me the manager was not there but that was their policy! It is my policy to always provide feedback on anything I buy to help others, no matter if it might be completely positive or completely negative!!!!!! So......did $3.00 meet your needs over time???? If one hundred patrons pay attention to this review, then maybe they will go elsewhere to get a better guarantee! This business has a $5.00 minimum on all credit card / debit card sales. Fruit King is stocked with less than perfect produce at incredible savings. Availability varies daily. Yesterday I bought two large bags of cherries, 2 beautiful squash, 2 large cucumbers, 2 quarts of blueberries, 6 thumbs of ginger, and a gallon of nice strawberries for a little over $7. Best fruitking in Corpus for sure. They have products at this place that I can't find any where else. It amazes me! Things like Adobo and Sazon and the mangos like the ones in the islands I'm from. If you are looking for Latin foods/groceries I definitely recommend you go to this place first. There's not even alot of fruit flies like most produce places do.
