I've been wanting to go here for decades for their Third Friday events, but I've somehow never made it. So getting to attend an event there was a great way to finally see the space. They have their own parking lot, which is a huge plus because parking in this area can sometimes be a little hairy. Once you walk inside, it's a big, open space that is set up for banquets and events. They host weddings and other types of gatherings, and there was plenty of room for everyone. They had high cocktail tables as well as lower tables where you could actually sit, and everything felt nice and roomy. I was also impressed with the acoustics. There was someone speaking on a microphone, and there was no annoying feedback or echo. You could actually hear what everyone was saying, which can be surprisingly hard to find in a large event space. The food at our reception was mostly finger foods--hummus, ranch, salsa, chips, pita bread, vegetables, what looked like couscous, a small salad in a cup, and fruit. Nothing was particularly spectacular, but it was good, easy-to-eat food for an evening reception. Now, the homemade cherry Coke was another story. WOW. I haven't had one that good in a long time! I definitely wasn't expecting that to be one of my favorite parts of the evening, but it was amazing. There was also beautiful glass artwork throughout the space, which I'm assuming was made right there at the studio. The decor really adds to the atmosphere and makes the venue feel unique. If you're looking for an event venue that is different from the typical banquet hall and has something interesting for everyone, I would definitely check out Third Degree Glass Factory. I'm not sure what other food options they offer for events, but the space itself was very nice, felt safe, had great parking, and I loved all of the glass artwork and decor. It's the main attraction in the Delmar Maker District, according to them, "leading the neighborhood's mission to support and promote makers of all kinds." Tonight there is a glass blowing demonstration, drinks at the bar, a street full of food and makers booths, loads of glass pumpkins and other things to look at and purchase if you like! We are going home with a glass pumpkin... It's a fun place to be. I recommend it!

I like to go around and support a variety of locally owned handcrafted soap boutiques. Since I moved to Illinois five years ago, I've been shopping on the east side of the river. Since I was having on The Hill, I made a point to shop, Herbaria The one thing that was on top of my list, Shave Soap. When shaving, I prefer a good lather from a shave soap over a cream or cream. Herbaria has several scents to choose from and I chose, Bay Rum and Jojoba. I am looking forward to my first shave with my new bar. I also bought a bar of Soapy's Choice. In the past, I've had very furry long haired dogs in the past, but now I have two Chihuahua mixes and they have very short fine hair. So, I thought I'd give Soapy's Choice a try. I'm sure my little girls are going to like showering with daddy. My other bar of soap was, Citrus Oatmeal. I love a good oatmeal soap, it invigorates my skin. To help my new bar last longer in the shower I bought a, Soap Lift. I liked that they had a good selection of colors, I grabbed a grey to match the colors in my primary en suite. We were eating next door and I saw this cute store on the way in and had to stop before going home…read more We were greeted by the most adorable dog and a friendly staff member who offered me a tour and a free sample. The products smell amazing and I was surprised at the variety, loofahs, deodorants, lotions, doggy soaps, soap dishes and more. The scents aren't scant either, there are plenty to choose from. I really enjoy that they have shea butter in them and all the ingredients are natural and not a bunch of chemicals. When checking out I asked about online ordering and was given a coupon to use online. The staff member working today remained friendly and upbeat and seemed genuinely excited about their products. It is always nice to buy from small local shops where there is genuine joy and love for their product. I am so happy that I came across this store and will definitely be returning.
