There's a massive lack of…read moresupervision, some of the teen counselors are great and some completely ignore the kids and are there to socialize so it's just luck of the draw. Biggest problem is that the area is crawling with ticks (and lyme disease) and the Frost Valley doesn't seem to take any precautions - aside from our daughter being reminded once or twice at bedtime to do a tick check. The kids go on an overnight campout where they hike through tall grass and then camp outdoors in tall grass - against all Department of Health guidelines. Not recommended. I see another parent had the same issue as well, which inspired me to write this review as well.

We flew all the way from overseas to attend this camp due to its reputation. My daughter contracted…read moreLyme disease at this camp due to inadequate tick prevention protocols. They sent 9-year-olds camping in woods during thunderstorms without tick repellent or education about risks. The camp's family handbook contains no tick/Lyme disease information - inexcusable for a camp in a high-risk area. Medical response was slow (6+ hour delay) and medication was mismanaged. Management refused any refund for sessions missed due to the medical condition acquired at their camp. Three families in our group reported similar operational issues with unresponsive counselors. Save your money and choose a camp that prioritizes child safety.

Not a bad campsite to stay at. I'm not sure what anyone would do in the immediate area other than…read moreget away from home for a night or two because there are no tourist attractions nearby. The property is kept stellar clean by the amazing staff that cares for the grounds. All the past reviews about confrontational staff seems unusual since my encounters with the staff is always pleasant and positive. I saw zero confrontations with others staying at the property while I was there. Camp personal even drove around twice in the day to check up on everyone without any incidents or confrontations. So unless you come here and you are a confrontational kind of person, I can't imagine most people will have any issues visiting. Facilities, like the restrooms and showers are in really great shape as the staff enters to clean it like 2-3 times a day to ensure camp goers are getting the best possible experience while visiting. Showers are kept clean though with "any" public showers I'd suggest some form of open saddles for your feet to prevent any kind of foot infection cause nobody knows how grimy the last person was that showered. My only complaint and reason I don't give this location a 5-star rating is that most camp site are insanely close to the next with only a downed tree separating each camp site. I would have liked to see at least a few feet (5FT even) between camp spots. I'd say half the spots have that gap between sites and the other half are on top of each other. If I farted the next camp would have not only heard it but likely smelt it. Just sayin' otherwise it's a great camp grounds with caring staff that work tirelessly to keep the place clean.

The park itself is pretty nice, with a number of facilities that were being used: baseball diamonds, basketball and tennis courts, and a nice big playground for the kids. The parking lot could use some shade trees, as it was pretty sunny and the cars get pretty heated up. Down by the baseball diamond, there's a nice shady picnic area with a lot of tables and bathrooms. I would have given this park 5 stars if not for these bathrooms, which were broken, badly. I'm not going to go into explicit detail, but suffice to say that they were rather fragrant, and highly unpleasant. Hopefully they've been repaired since our visit. So, if you're going for a ride, this is a good place to park your car for the duration, and an ok after-ride spot. It's definitely a lot quieter than the lots closer to the Walkway over the Hudson.

Mark and Ed were absolutely amazing! With such a wide range of ages, skill levels, and comfort zones, they navigated it all seamlessly, thanks to Mark and Ed. Their patience, kindness, and deep knowledge made a huge difference--they knew exactly when to encourage and when to hold back. Everyone had a great time, even our youngest, who was a bit hesitant at first but felt proud and happy afterward. The older girls each pushed past their comfort zones, and their dad was able to set an inspiring example by challenging himself alongside them. It was an incredible experience for all of us--I can't say enough good things about it!

Teddy guided us on the Gunks for a full beginner's day and was a perfect fit with our group. He was professional, very safe, and incredibly funny. He spent more time with our less experienced climbers and let the more seasoned climbers enjoy themselves. Teddy had great insight to climbing and inspired all of us to try top rope / lead anchor more. I will book Teddy again if I climb in the area. (Also, I think Mountain Skills is the lowest cost of the gunks guides - about $175/person down to $130 with more people)

There is plenty of parking to find, but it expects to be fairly packed during spring/summertime. There is a lake just as you leave along with a playground. Going toward the woods, you'll come across a trail that is marked red. Some of the signatures are not clear as we happened to go off the trail for a bit, but we managed to get back on. Walking further, the lake is still visible until crossing to another trail that is called the white trail. There are a lot of hills on this part, which eventually leads to another trail. I'll have more info about it in my update.
